Common Questions and Answers about Vytorin withdrawal symptoms

vytorin

Avatar m tn If serious liver injury with clinical symptoms and/or hyperbilirubinemia or jaundice occurs during treatment with Vytorin, promptly interrupt therapy. If an alternate etiology is not found do not restart Vytorin. Note that ALT may emanate from muscle, therefore ALT rising with CK may indicate myopathy [see Warnings and Precautions (5.1)]. Vytorin should be used with caution in patients who consume substantial quantities of alcohol and/or have a past history of liver disease.
Avatar m tn My doctor perscribed Vytorin 10/20. This is where my health began to deteriorate. I developed both clay soft stool and chronic explosive diarrhea in the mornings (3-4X before leaving the house) and excessive tiredness. At first I didnt put the two together, I just thought it was something I was eating or drinking so I continuously changed my diet. Nothing helped. I went back to the doctor for a 1 yr follow up and mentioned the diarrhea.
Avatar f tn Fatigue and lethargy are side effects of atenolol, however, I do not see any information suggesting that muscle weakness is a side effect of atenolol. I see that you also take Vytorin. It appears that symptoms of ALS,( Lou Gehrig's Disease) have been reported to the FDA in a higher than expected number of patients taking statins. ALS is a progressive motor neuron disorder with symptoms such as difficulty walking or standing, difficulty with fine motor skills and muscle paralysis.
Avatar n tn I have IBS with diarrhea. My family doctor gave me Vytorin and it caused ONE HORRIBLE bout with the diarrea. So, my question is: Should people with IBS not take Vytorin? If the answer is: No,they shouldn't,then why do you think this side effect is not listed on the pamphlet that comes with the drug.....or any where else?!
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar f tn Vytorin is a statin that lowers LDL and raises HDL. I believe Vytorin is a combination of Zetia and Zocor. I am not sure if the Vytorin will go with the Niaspam so you will need to ask your doctor that.
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar m tn Reading the many comments I came across one that stated lovastatin is an old medicine and is not used often. After recent cath my doctor changed my medication from vytorin ,have taken vytorin for 5 years, to lovastatin. I did ask for a cheaper medicine and lovastatin was what he came with. I have no problems or side effects . My question is lovastatin less effective then other of the same and if not why is it not used often. My engineering background comes out if I d not have proper data.
Avatar f tn I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore. My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily. My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?
Avatar n tn p will spike high ( dont know the reason) but it happens! and you will have withdrawal symptoms - slight but there ! they always happen depending how long you were on the medication? and the doseage you took ! I had this happen to me ! the big problem is, most doctors in hmos or ppo plans -refuse to take people off this medication!
Avatar m tn Someone suggested that I consider inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's. Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems. Do you think I should consider this image screening?
Avatar m tn , 165 lbs, eat well (no red meat or pork, little dairy, etc), and active. My chol is excellent all around (thanks to 10mg of vytorin). Total chol was 215 before, 135 after. My dad had a heart attack at 49, second at 73, he is now 82. I went for stress test and echo last week. Dr said stress was great but he saw a very small calcium deposit on lining of heart muscle, not near arteries. He was not overly concerned and said we just need to watch it during next year's test.

Avatar n tn My father needs to lower his cholesterol, but Statins cause him significant muscle problems (Myositis) and elevated Creatine Kinase CPK and Aldalase. His symptoms resolve and tests return to normal when the Statins are discontinued. What Cholesterol drugs can he try that do not have Myositis as a side effect?
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar f tn I have wondered about MS for a while. My symptoms are strange and varied and don't seem to fit in any one box. Tiredness Numbness in the fingers usually the middle to small fingers. Cramps and contractions in the same places - under ribs ( front and back) on certain movements - (L) middle finger contracts ( only this finger) - cramp severe and uncontrollable inside (R) inner thigh. Severe burning ( like a hot needle) pain on top of ( R) foot in exactly the same spot each time.
Avatar n tn I too have similar symptoms of just really tired heavy legs. I've been on Vytorin for some time now. Have you tried Co enzyme Q10. These statins stop the production of this enzyme.
Avatar m tn I have some Lipitor in the cabinet and my doc is going to put me on Vytorin in 11 days. I was trying to avoid a new Rx of Simva since I have a cupboard full of comparable meds and will be starting Vytorin soon. I can't get a hold of my doc for a week. Just wondering if anyone knew of any bad reactions, a required layoff before switching, etc. Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn My diet is good but I do not exercise. It has been suggested that I could try Pravastatin as a last resort but if adverse symptoms occur, that will be the end of the statins for me. Should I even consider another statin as they all seem to have the same effects.
Avatar f tn I am taking Inderal for migraines, Vytorin for high cholesterol, and Metformin for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
