Common Questions and Answers about Taking vytorin in the morning

vytorin

Avatar m tn It says increases in liver enzymes occur in 1.7 percent of people taking Vytorin. This increase appears to be more prevalent in people who are taking higher doses. It goes on to explain other causes of high liver enzymes. The bottom line is the person best to determine this is one who is familiar with your medical history as well as your labs prior to starting the medication. Avatar m tn By this time I was completely stressed due to the never ending diarrhea and having anxiety about going to work, driving in the car etc. The diarrhea got so bad I didnt want to leave the house. He took me off the Vytorin and put me on Zocor with same results. After stopping all meds and getting a colonoscopy and blood tests nothing was found. He now states I have IBS and put me on SSRI Citalopram. HELP!
1846163 tn?1331048748 m not quite sure if the contrandication is a result of the Incivek elevating the plasma concentration of the statin or the statin lowering exposure and loss of efficacy of the Incivek but it's one or the other.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on 30mg of Coreg (time release) that I take once in the morning. My fatigue has increased and my libido has dropped to zero. I have also gained 30 pounds since my quintuple CABG back in September 2007. I am also on Zocor, Aspirin and Niaspam. Can Coreg cause any of these symptoms? Also, my HDL has not improved since my surgery. I'm stuck in the high 20's. I feel a lack of motivation and rarely exercise. I'm worried about the HDL.
Avatar f tn I had a triple bypass in April 05, and like you I have part of my leg in my chest now. I can't really say how long they will last, but I'm not doing to bad. My EF has improved quite a bit and I would probably be doing even better if I exercised (as everyone around me recommends). Prior to my surgery, my 'bad' cholesterol number was 169. I'm not sure what the rest of the numbers were. I started on Litptor but it made me itch - not too good with the blood thinners...
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar f tn My family doc first prescribed Magic Mouthwash for thrush, to no avail. The white coating is worse in the morning and after I eat. I drink a lot of water. I talk all day as I am a teacher; it tends to feel like glue inside my mouth at times. I can scrape it out with my fingernail but it just comes back a few hours later. Now my tongue feels rough in the back and up against my palate. Please help!
Avatar m tn First, why are you taking Lipitor and Vytorin? Those are both "statins" and should never be taken together. You should stop one of these immediately. If you have had elevated CPK's it could be due to the statin and it is questionable whether you should be on one at all. Stop both of those medications and see your doctor immediately--bring your pill bottles. You need to get your medications straight before considering any testing.
Avatar n tn But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home. Since the pain (enough to climb the walls) started at night and I took the Vytorin at night, I concluded, it must be the Statins and I quit taking them and, just as I thought, no more pain. Now I am taking Crestor 5mg's because the cardiologist said, I should be taking them again.
Avatar m tn The manufacturer of a newer drug may quote research to support the promotional argument, but who pays for the research to be done? Generally, it is the manufacturer of the drug that is being promoted. You can find out if lovastatin is effective for you by having your cholesterol tested after you have been on it for a while. My mother has been on three different statins, and two of them reduced her cholesterol, and one did not. Different statins are effective for different people.
Avatar n tn I am a 46 year old male, 5' 11" and 168lbs. My legs are really bothering me lately. I can do something as simple as crouch down to pick up a toy, get back up and experience that "just worked out" feeling in my legs. Like they're "spent", sort of. Kicking a soccer ball around with my kids for more than a minute -- I really feel that in my legs though I'm not winded. Same thing going up stairs; my legs feel like lead but I'm not winded.
Avatar f tn The last two weeks I have had pain in all my joints all over my body.(ankles, hands, feets, knees etc.) It is so painful It hurt to walk to stand. I can hear my bones cracking. I can not sleep when I lay down my left arm go to sleep and my fingers turn cold and heavy. My whole body feel like a rock. I turn all night trying to sleep. Most nights I feel like I am having a heart attack or stoke.
Avatar m tn I have had some intense muscle and joint pain in the past, which is why my doctor has been changing my statin type and dosage. We're trying to find the right combo. I have a history of CAD and PAD, have had a femoral stent, and am a smoker.(59 yo male, btw). Does anyone know if I can substitute 20 mg Lipitor for my 20 mg Simvastatin, which I just ran out of? I have some Lipitor in the cabinet and my doc is going to put me on Vytorin in 11 days.
Avatar m tn If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart. In order for cholesterol to stick, there has to be a sticking spot. Do you have a high level of inflammation in your body? There is a test for this. Do you have arthritis? It is great that you are eating no red meat. This will help a great deal. Do you eat lots of vegetables fresh and foods rich in omega 3?
Avatar m tn If you are on statins, the muscle and joint pain could be related to the statin you are taking. Let your doctor know, so your doctor can switch your statin medication.
645800 tn?1466860955 Vytorin is a combination Ezetimibe and simvastatin and I'm currently taking simvastatin. My doctor is switching my medicine due to my leg cramps to see if that will help. All of the cholesterol "statin" medicines can cause muscle cramps. This one works in the gut to keep your body from getting the cholesterol into your body in the first place.
212161 tn?1599427282 I take it every night, it dropped my tri's over 50 points, great stuff with no side effects at all. I've been very happy with this med. I actually take it along with Vytorin, very happy with the results. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi again, Regarding vytorin, it is a combo of zetia and zocor. There was a study that said that although the Vytorin will lower the cholesterol, it didn't have good effects to prevent heart attacks. Howeverk, Crestor was shown to reduce plaque and had better results in clinical studies. Also, with the Niaspan, it is known to raise HDL level but HDL is not necessarily protective as they thought. But that study may be skewed because it was done on all cardiac patients.
Avatar f tn I take .50 Klonopin in the morning w/ my 40 mg of Paxil (not a fan of this ssri). I'm busy taking care of my son in the am, dropping him off at the in laws, and then heading to work so being busy does help. On occasion I take half of my Klonopin at night to help as prescribed. I stay away from Xanax because it's short acting and the Klonopin does the same thing but lasts longer. Management of medication and seeing a therapist has helped most.
1486020 tn?1354028475 I'm taking a HPT first thing in the morning. Fingers crossed for a BFP! Although, I've convinced myself it'll be negative.. we'll see.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Taking a T3 med before sleep is not advised, the active hormone can keep you awake and possibly result in night time heart palps.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Lisinopril, 20mg. I take Lisinopril in a.m. without other drugs, vitamins. Within 2 hours and continues throughout the day, I am having overall weakness, cough, dizziness, legs feel like they are shaking inside, although not externally visible. B/P is sometimes 170 / 90 and other times 125 / 70 and anywhere in-between. Is there some other drug to control hypertension which does not have these side effects?
