Levothyroxine is the active ingredient for both of them; the difference is the inactive ingredients (fillers/binders and dyes) they each contain. Levothyroxine is also the generic for all brands of T4 medications.
Inactive ingredients in Synthroid are: acacia, confectioner's sugar, D&C Red No. 27 & D&C Red No. 30, FD&C Blue No. 1, lactose, magnesium stearate, povidone, and talc.

EMedTV has an article that explains some statins are associated with high liver enzymes. It says increases in liver enzymes occur in 1.7 percent of people taking Vytorin. This increase appears to be more prevalent in people who are taking higher doses.
It goes on to explain other causes of high liver enzymes.

I notice is doesn’t say what it DOES contain, just what it doesn’t.

From review of the active ingredients I can't imagine why there would be a difference in thyroid effect. If it were me I would question cutting your dosage in half and risking becoming hypo again, unless the doctor can provide a valid reason. I have switched from Armour to NatureThroid without noticing any effect.

My doctor perscribed Vytorin 10/20. This is where my health began to deteriorate. I developed both clay soft stool and chronic explosive diarrhea in the mornings (3-4X before leaving the house) and excessive tiredness. At first I didnt put the two together, I just thought it was something I was eating or drinking so I continuously changed my diet. Nothing helped. I went back to the doctor for a 1 yr follow up and mentioned the diarrhea.
Generics all have their own names but from a chemical standpoint, the active ingredients are identical to the name brand. Where Junel and Blisovi differ is just in the inactive ingredients.
I have looked up all the medications available for hypothyroid and they all seem to contain the same inactive ingredients. Getting pretty scared at this point. Dr. says to take antihistamines before taking the synthroid, but hives are still there and I can still feel the reaction going on. Don't know how much longer I can continue this. Please help!
Some other companies which has same composition but other inactive ingredients and preservatives,they might take the color of inactive ingredients or color of natural or synthetic chemicals mixed: like Vytone or Ethex,Alcortin,Glades or Dynarex.
If you might have noticed on the label it says 'Paraben free',which is a potential ingredient if included in composition causes severe allergic reactions, which is a good thing.
Yes, Synthroid is the same as Levoxyl as being a brand thyroid medication. However, Levoxyl has less inactive ingredients than Synthroid, with less chance for adverse reactions. Active ingredients are the same. The active ingredient T4, is not known to cause adverse issues, however, the inactive ingredients in all the thyroid medications
(including Armour and Cytomel), are the actual culprits.
Armour is not a 100% natural. Nor a 100% cure-all for all our symptoms.
Reading the many comments I came across one that stated lovastatin is an old medicine and is not used often. After recent cath my doctor changed my medication from vytorin ,have taken vytorin for 5 years, to lovastatin. I did ask for a cheaper medicine and lovastatin was what he came with. I have no problems or side effects . My question is lovastatin less effective then other of the same and if not why is it not used often. My engineering background comes out if I d not have proper data.
I have IBS with diarrhea. My family doctor gave me Vytorin and it caused ONE HORRIBLE bout with the diarrea.
So, my question is: Should people with IBS not take Vytorin?
If the answer is: No,they shouldn't,then why do you think this side effect is not listed on the pamphlet that comes with the drug.....or any where else?!

I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore.
My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily.My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?
Fatigue and lethargy are side effects of atenolol, however, I do not see any information suggesting that muscle weakness is a side effect of atenolol. I see that you also take Vytorin. It appears that symptoms of ALS,( Lou Gehrig's Disease) have been reported to the FDA in a higher than expected number of patients taking statins. ALS is a progressive motor neuron disorder with symptoms such as difficulty walking or standing, difficulty with fine motor skills and muscle paralysis.
I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol the doc put me on Vytorin samples for a month it seemed to agree till I took it for 2 months, got flu like symptoms, then he put me on Crestor samples for a month again the bad side effects came 2 months after I took them aching muscles, coughing, tightness to where nothing would come up when I coughed..... this all scared me and I chave not called him I really don't want to go any other meds for this, is there any alternative for this.???
