I am trying to get him s strength built up before all the treatments start. He is on some pain meds that seem to give constipation. Also what kind of foods should he eat? He is open to anything that will not interact with Hydocodone and morphine.

I don't understand most of it, but seems like they say vit e interrupted or inhibited liver cell regeneration in their study. Am I reading that right? Should we be taking vit e??
Avatar f tn the doctor who wrote it ran a treatment facility in UPstate New york where they gave patients amino acids and vitamin via IV during treatment.. He also counsels patients individually.. All of these things are meant to rebuild activity in the major neuro transmitters.. as addicts our neurotransmitters have been disrupted by our use of drugs.. even stuff like cigarettes and eating alot of sugar can disrupt them.. with drugs however it can be more damaging..
662361 tn?1225334507 What happens in many people who are chronically ill (myself included) is that we have a low vitamin D and a high vitamin D 1,25 result. It is the belief of some physicians now that this dysregulation happens due to intracellular bacteria. For more information, you can google, "vitamin D dysregulation". Q: My chronic fatigue illness started with infectious mono. After about a year, a very low vitamin D level was discovered.
1985196 tn?1402190098 I now am prescribed the prescription medication Lovaza which is a synthetic version of fish oil and has shown to be of help as a mood stabilizer in clinical studies. I take a full (W.H.O. approved amount) regimen of vitamins including a vitamin b and c complex and haven't found any specific efficacy on mental symptoms. However each person's reaction may vary and you can discuss the use of vitamins and minerals or supplements with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn I emailed you last week about the fact that I had a Vitamin D level of 9, and that after 6 weeks on vitamin D therapy, my level is now 55. You asked if I had been tested for celiac sprue-- I have not. After Vitamin D therapy my TSH rose from 2.33 to 4.97, indicating that I needed to increase from 100 mcg to 112 mcg of Synthroid. I have been on the new dose (112) for 1 1/2 weeks. I am having increased appetite.
Avatar n tn The doctor had prescribed vitamin E, Calcium with vitamin D and a multivitamin tablet. Several online websites had warned against the use of antioxidants during radiation and hence the concern..

1282416 tn?1271439654 After some reading I found out that once you begin a Vitamin D therapy you may develop symptoms of Magnesium deficiency as Vitamin D uses up whatever Magnesium is in the body to do its thing in the body. Okay, I said. Then I will start Magnesium now......
Avatar m tn Now looking into Vitamin C IV therapy. Most of you probably heard of the recent study involving OVC and V C injections into tumors. IV therapy seems to have gone on for some time. Has anyone done it? Hopw do you order the infusions of your clinic or MD is not doing it? What are the other alternatives if you can't handle chemo? Just on the curious side, in your clinic, are staff allowed to be on duty if they have runny noses?
Avatar n tn Vitamin B17 should not be considered a vitamin just like vitamin D as both are not vitamins. Glycosides and secosteroids being vitamins? What? The wise thing to do is to follow the doctor's indications as he is the one who knows the current stage of his cancer, patients blood counts etc. I am not saying that crunching some apricot kernels here and there is not safe and not healthy but special precautions need to be considered with patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
Avatar n tn "HCV infection significantly lowered vitamin B(6) and folate (p<0.05). Therapy caused further decrease in vitamin B(6) (p<0.05), and also significantly decreased vitamins B(1) and B(2) (p<0.05). This anti-HCV therapy caused more patients to exhibit insufficient iron status. HCV infection elevated plasma level of malondialdehyde and 8-isoprostane, and therapy further exacerbated lipid oxidation (p<0.05).
Avatar f tn and Vitamin D deficiency can have serious health implications, so before stopping the therapy, you may want to discuss this with your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I suffer from seasonal anxiety during the winter, and I've tried various things from light boxes to Lexapro over the years. A couple weeks ago, my doctor suprised me by perscribing vitamin D therapy. I'm very skeptical about herbs and vitamin therapy, because one hears so much superstitious nonsense about these things. But I have to admit, vitamin D calms me down dramatically. Anyone else have experiences with this? I hasten to add VITAMIN D IS POISONOUS in massive doses.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone... sorry the vitamin D therapy isn't the cure for acne like I had made it out to be before. But vitamin D is a very critical nutrient you need in your diet if you are not getting it on a regular basis from the sun. And I still think that it does play a role in helping your acne get better. I cut out milk and cheese and I always protect myself from the sun so I will be using vitamin D supplementation regularly no matter what. It can lead to wide variety of diseases.
