Avatar n tn I had a DVT that went through my heart and into my lungs(PE). A valve was damaged, also one chanber of my heart. My problem is that I wasn't diagnosed as a "heart attack", but rather a "pulmonary embolism", and the lawyers representing me in my vioxx lawsuit say it has to be a heart attack, not a PE. Isn't a heart attack part of a PE? Rather, did I suffer a heart attack as well as a pulmonary embolism?

Avatar m tn Don't know what you're working on. Time release is slow release. When I managed health food stores the saying about time release was, expensive urine or bowel movements, since the body evacuates before the stuff comes out of the capsule.
Avatar f tn Comparing the data there with the Merck press-release points out a couple of details left out from the glossy, good news, press release. I usually pick on Vertex for this sort of selective data fishing but it looks like Merck is just as suspect.
Avatar m tn Years ago I tried Vioxx (the non-sulpha version of Celebrex) and wound up in the ER with dangerously high BP. Trouble is, even after I stopped Vioxx my BP never went back to normal. Now I'm on two different BP meds to control it. (Full disclosure: I also have a family history of hypertension.) I took meloxicam for a long time because I could take it along with my BP meds, but eventually my stomach couldn't take it anymore.
Avatar n tn [2] A series of small-scale studies completed in Germany found that H. procumbens was indistinguishable from Vioxx in the treatment of chronic low back pain,[3] and was well-tolerated after more than four years of treatment of H. procumbens alone.[4] H. procumbens also seems efficacious in the treatment of arthritis-caused hip and knee pain.
Avatar f tn Yes very disappointing news. I think the scariest part is the number of people who do not know they are HCV infected and can lead to HCC. We can send men to the moon but we can't get the word out about the importance of HCV testing.
