Vicodin vs tylenol

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin vs tylenol

Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn Norco is the same active ingredient as Vicodin and Lortab (hydrocodone), but the Tylenol (acetaminophen) content is lower at 325mg than the 500mg in Lortab and Vicodin.
Avatar f tn Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
Avatar f tn I took my last pill yesterday evening..........the vicodin es. Im now 11hrs into zero pills......I was wondering if Tylenol pm is safe to take while pregnant. I will need something for my pain but also I will need something to help me sleep. Since Im preggers I cannot take any Xanax (have this in case of an emergency). I know last time my dr cancelled everyones appt due to weather I had to go thru 5 days of withdrawl.........but I had the xanax to help the anxiety and allow me to sleep.
Avatar n tn Tramadol is not even a narcotic or opiate. Its not similar to vicodin either. Tylenol 3 is a very weak opiate. It acts like most pain killers. It blocks out the opiade receptors in your brain that make you feel pain.
Avatar f tn The lowest amount of tylenol that I know of that comes with hydrocodone would be in Norco tablets. They contain 10mg of the hydrocodone and only 325mg of tylenol. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching you to oxycodone instead? Oxycodone comes in tablet form that's just pure oxycodone, it has no tylenol or acetaminophen in it at all. It's stronger than hydrocodone, too, so the 5mg tablet (the smallest one they make) might even work as well for you as the 7.5mg vicodin.
Avatar n tn Norco is better than most because it only has 325 of Tylenol Vs. 500 or 650. To my knowledge hydrocodone which is the narcotic agent in Norco (I take it too) does not come in a tablet all on it's own. In order to get rid of the Tylenol you have to move up to the drug oxycodone which is in drugs like Percocet they make oxycodone tabs without Tylenol. Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised?
331213 tn?1217164831 I suffer from severe migraines and I am 16 weeks pregnant, I take 2 tylenol 3 (tylenol with codiene) in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, they help, might want to check with your dr as they are a narcotic
Avatar f tn so my head was hurting really bad at work and i didnt have my medicine so my friend gave me a tylenol.. well i started to feel weird and she realized she gave me a vicodin!! im almost 33 weeks my question is will that show up when my baby is born like will they take him or question me about it?!?! im freaking out..
7369582 tn?1395996075 I would try tylenol first. But vicodin is safe to take during pregnancy. Some obgyns actually give it to patients in a lot of pain.
12103503 tn?1423448886 Tylenol with codeine is called Tylenol#3 but like I said they both are the same thing same exact ingredients in them
4381292 tn?1355701521 When i was in the hospital at 26 weeks with siatica, my ob gave me vicodin. I was also on vicodin while pregnant with my daughter after a car accident. I wouldnt take unless ob prescribes as there are many different doses. Im sure (same with even tylenol) it can be bad.
5621633 tn?1371088110 the only difference is that Norco has less acetaminophen than Vicodin (325mg vs 500 in Vicodin). Also, the Vicodin your mom has contains less hydrocodone than the Norco you are prescribed, and the half-life of hydrocodone is a maximum of 6 hours which means the levels of the extra Norco you took should be out of your system by the time you have your urine test, so I wouldn't worry this time about being "caught" taking extra pills this time. But I agree with silverfox67.
Avatar f tn I am strongly against the use of acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) as part of the treatment of long term chronic pain. Vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol #3, Tylenol #4 are OK for short term acute pain from surgeries etc. but using them long term everyday as a regimen for treatment of chronic pain is very damaging to the liver. Opioids alone DO NOT damage internal organs. They are one of the safest medicines out there for pain.
Avatar n tn just remember, ask your OBGYN first because too much tylenol is harmful. I know most vicodin is only 500 mg of tylenol or = 1 extra strength. my OBGYN has ok'd me to take up to 2 extra strength tylenol if I really need it and don't want the vicodin..
Avatar m tn I've been taking 1 vicodin a day for 7 years for severe back pain. Dr has prescribed 1 every six hours, but I have never taken that does, as my most severe pain is at night. I'm worried about damage to my liver. I know that I am not exceeding the recommended Tylenol dose, but I want to make sure I'm ok. I am an occasional drinker, maybe 2 glasses of wine, 3x per week.
Avatar f tn They are taking Hydrocodone off the market all together and replacing it with a long acting med called ZoHydro. it is Vicodin without the tylenol 500 mg of tylenol is way way too much for your liver to handle. I am on Roxy's which is oxycodone 30 mg no aspirin they do fine and for the long acting i am using Morphine Sulphate.
Avatar f tn An advisory panel has recommended a ban on the following pain medications to the FDA: Percocet Vicodin Darvon Darvocet These are just the few that I found so far...
Avatar n tn I know I am now dependent on vicodin. I felt this way once before after knee surgery, but just tapered off. I also quit smoking cold turkey so I am fairly motivated to go the course. After a second knee surgury this year, I am having trouble getting off the 375 miligarms dose 3 x a day. Stopping for a day results in chills at feet and hands, no sleep, and increased emotional pressure to just pop one. That is especially true at night.
356518 tn?1322263642 The media has really went wild with the effects that Tylenol has on your liver but this is not about that at all.( Too much Tylenol over any long period of time is not recommended) Your liver metabolizes opioids and therefore works harder than those who may not take them. As a precaution I advise getting a test done.
Avatar f tn Have you been addicted to Tylenol 3 with Codeine? Can you please help me out with my addiction such as sharing your tips, stories and so on.I just joined this site and don't know where to begin.I get T3's prescribed 3 per day, 20 every 7 days (wed-wed) but I also get them on the side from someone I lie to.I want to stop, I dont even know how long its been.It just grew out of control and i had enough but cant beat the withdrawl and i am scared cuz I also dont want help from Doctors.
Avatar m tn I have been secretly taking tylenol 3 and vicodin unprescribed to me for a little over 2 years now.. before i became pregnant I was taking about 3 at a time maybe twice or more a day...When i found out I was pregnant in Januarry 2012 I stopped with the vics and I cut back on the tylenol to 2 a day, i take 1 every 5 hours. Iam 35 weeks pregnant and I have grown to be more and more stressed about what im doing to my baby... Am i doing serious harm to her?
