vicodin and percocet

Hello, I have thyroid cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. A week ago I had surgery to remove the lymph nodes (surgery went well and I was sent home). Now I am on percocet for the pain. I have been able to reduce my doses and think I will be completely off in a couple of days. My doctor said after the surgery, I could start trying to conceive.

For each of these I was prescribed either hydrocodone (vicodin) and tylenol 3. I have terrible reactions to these meds.I feel sick to my stomach, very dizzy, and I usually end up vomiting or having dry heaves (not fun when you have abdominal stitches for a gallbladder extraction.) They didn't help much with the pain either and I decided the pain was preferable to the side effects of the drugs.

Ok, today I am picking up my RX for the Fenytal patch, my idea is not be on both the patch and still have to take Vicodin. My question is if I just stop the Vicodin, if the patch works out great for pain management. Will I have withdrawals from the Vicodin?... Also just want to know with the patch, do you get that spike In Energy like I get from the Vicodin, one of the things I did enjoy with the vicodin...haa haa... As it helps keep up with my 2 and 10 year old..Just woundering.

yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...

Percocet is Oxycodone and Vicodin ES is Hydrocodone.

Ill keep it short - not only are they addicting, they are probably more addicting than vicodin and stronger. Percocet is one step ABOVE Vicodin on the painkiller strength scale. Ever hear people talk about oxy? Percocet is Oxycodone. If you had a problem with vicodin, percocet will just be a bigger problem. Id stay away. Good luck and congrats on all that clean time.. Finally, a rule of thumb is to NEVER take OTC products that contain Tylenol while taking Vicodin or Percocet as you are ADDING in more tylenol that needs to totaled and added to the amount consumed through the Vicodin or Percocet. It is important to read the labels on OTC cold and cough medicines to understand how much Acetaminophen (or Tylenol) is in the product.

the percocet are stronger, more addictive and result in worse withdrawals. the difference is vicodin are hydrocodone and percocet are oxycodone... same stuff as in the 'oxy's' that you probably have heard about... only difference is the strength. One thing you need to realize is that each time you use the stronger stuff to get you thru till you get your doc which is the weaker of the two you are moving your tolerance along so that you need more of it to get to your level.

I'm on zoloft and I sometimes take my moms vicodin/percocet for pain and I'm just wondering is it safe to take these combinations together? Basically: Zoloft+Vicodin= safe? Zoloft+Percocet= safe? Will the Vicodin or Percocet decrease the effects of the Zoloft? OR can it cause permanent brain damage? I took 2 Vicodin's a couple days ago and then took 1 Zoloft pill an hour later and I started to feel weird/loopy. Could I have caused permanent brain damage?

This time it was 30 milligrams of vicodin, with a two month prescription of percocet 10 milligram mixed in at three times a day. I tapered the percocet and 36 hours ago quit the vicodin. My body feels achy, but I havent had the restless leg which was a night mare last november and I have yet to have diareeham, and i have slept more than i did when I quit before. Hey there.....I don't know about percocet but I took tramadol with vicodin before. I take tramadol and my script was running out before I could get it refilled so I took the vicodin to help make what tramadol I had left, last. So, medically I think it wouldn't hurt anything to take them. You just have to be very careful with tramadol! I am in the process of trying to ween off of it and my dr.

A LORTAB is basically Vicodin (hyddrocodone), whereas a PERCOCET is a more natural opiate, also called oxycodone. Because oxy is less synthetic, it tends to be a bit stronger. Both meds contain the opiate (either hydro or oxy) and acetaminophen (tylenol). Both are habit forming when used improperly, or for long periods of time. Hope that helps.

I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.

My question relates to liver damage related to the use/abuse of pain medication. By pain medication I mean OTC(Tylenol/Advil) and of course, Vicodin and Percocet. The short version is: For the last 10 months I have struggled with lower back pain. I am 24 years old, 6'5'', 220lbs and generally healthy/athletic build. I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia and have seen a number of different specialists and tried lyrica, cymbalta and lots of different medications before my pain management doctor put me on Percocet. It is the only thing that helps me function everyday. I am now pregnant. My pain management doctor refused to continue to prescribe it to me even though I have been on it for almost 2 years now. She told me to take tylenol which doesn't come close to helping with the pain.

I even tried going to a methadone clinic and before I went i took 10 Vicodin, 5 2-mg Ativan and methadone and O.D. in the waiting room. Not once during any of my attempts to get clean did I not want stay clean, there was never a time when I didn't crave drugs every single second of every day and constantly think of ways to get them, I even entertained the thought of getting heroin. But I never went that far. I realized that this is the way I'm going to die.
