Avatar f tn Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea. These medications can be used as a pretreatment for exercise eliminating the reaction and allowing for a better workout. I hope that helps you. Good luck obtaining an accurate diagnosis and the medication that is best for you.
Avatar n tn Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar m tn If you are continuing to have breathlessness, then you may need additional inhalers like ventolin, which contains salbutamol, which is short acting and helps relieve bronchospasm. It would be best to consult your doctor regarding persisting symptoms, he may prescribe additional inhalers or he may change the dose of the steroid inhaler. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I am 19 wks pregnant and suffer from terrible allergies this time of yr and have to use salbutamol 100micrograms inhaler. I use it up to 3 times a day. My midwife is uncertain if I can use this while pregnant and I have read up on possible effects to the baby and I am terrified. Has anyone used this while pregnant??
Avatar n tn Hi, i I am using ventolin inhaler regularly for past many years. Also i am using Pulmicort and Singulair regularly. I am from India.I may be travelling to US shortly. I am worried about the availability of Ventolin inhalers. Some months i may need to use more than one Ventolin inhalers based on my asthma triggers. Will it be a problem to get 2 ventolin inhaler prescription per month in US.
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Avatar n tn Ask him/her if you should also take pills to help you breathe, either SINGULAiRor something similar once in 24hr, and the inhaler. You should also have a rescue inhaler such as ALBUTEROL and use that only in emergency. I have posted a large post re: asthma and all, please read them, hope it will help you. Again do not overuse your inhalers. Keep an air cleaning machine in your home to filter out 99% of all polutants, you can get one for about $60.00 at K-mart or Sears. They help.

Avatar f tn after being on the blue Ventolin inhaler I had experienced severe headaches and a jittery feeling in me everytime I took it, the headaches became increasingly worse so I got took off Ventolin and put on Bricanyl Turbohaler. I have been using Bricanyl along with my brown inhaler and antihistamines as it was believed that I had allergic asthma.
Avatar f tn I had a bad reaction to the inhaler (more wheezing, low fever, sinus problems) and so stopped taking. I have since relied only on ventolin for my asthma treatment which I used about 4-5 times a week. I got a cold in early April and have had a terrible cough since and have been wheezier than usual. I wake up every night to use my inhaler.
Avatar f tn He said that it is normal for my chest to react that way with the inhaler. I been having this cough for the past week. I havent used my inhaler yet. Do i need to switch to another inhaler? Please need advice please. Thanks.
Avatar n tn It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing. Ventolin is used to treat bronchospasm (wheezing, shortness of breath) associated with reversible obstructive airway disease such as asthma.
2206935 tn?1373638605 I stopped using my brown preventative inhaler because I kept getting a lot of oral thrush from it. I still carry the Ventolin albuterol inhaler to give instant relief should I get an attack. Doing exercises and breathing to full capacity is good for the lungs so is breath control especially when you sing.
Avatar n tn Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!
Avatar f tn 1 - I am currently taking symbicort and ventolin, and someone told me that if I stop using them (even for just one day), I will have an asthma attack because of my perfume/irritant allergy. Is this true? 2 - What am I supposed to do if I have an asthma attack? Atfter I take my ventolin (for emergencies), am I supposed to go to the hospital or just wait for it to get better?
Avatar n tn I have also started waking up in the morning with severe wheezing (relieved by a Ventolin inhaler) and coughing. What could be causing the problem? Also does using the inhaler too much cause migraine like headache symptoms? Thankyou.
Avatar m tn I have cough for almost a week. My doctor told me to took ventolin spectorant for 4-5 days 3 times a day. But i only took 2 times a day bec. I am relactant in taking medicine.may i know if ventolin expectorant is safe for a pregnant women for 16 weeks. Is there no side effects for baby?
1102792 tn?1285925260 For about a week now i've been haviing constant sneeziing, (5-10 or deep sneezes in a row) which leaves me very hungry, itchy eyes which get very red when i try to scratch them wth my hands, sore feeling in my throat, not really a sore throat, smelly throat, if i put my finger down my throat and put it close to my nose the smell is very bad, and this smelly throat extends to my mouth as well, feeling sort of sore in my mouth and back of my throat, had a serious sudden asthma attack two weeks
4658567 tn?1364142123 Hello Danni! The symptoms you've described are something I've been experiencing as well. I am a 35 yr old male that has been smoking since i was about 19 yrs old. About a little over a month ago i was checked into the ER experiencing pretty much the same symptoms you described; the diagnosis was that i had asthmatic bronchitis. Its pretty hard to stay away from cigarettes, but that is a must if you wish for those symptoms to go away.
Avatar f tn Also, apprantly my dr agreed because he prescribed me an inhaler. Im just a little concerned because i used it once so far, and i know that sometimes the side effects can be really severe (ive been having REALLY bad drowsiness, but thats just annoying not much of a big deal) but it also seemed that the inhaler actually made my chest pains worse. It just made it seem like i had this huge gulp of air caught in my chest.. like i needed to burp but couldnt make it come out.
Avatar m tn You will feel a lot better then having to take ventolin all the time. Use one inhaler properly (try not to miss any doses) and see how you feel at the end. Use a journal (or the asthma tracker on here) to keep track of symptoms and peak flows if you have a meter. Assess at the end of one inhaler (probably 2-4 weeks) and then talk to your doctor if you don't feel like you want to continue using it.
