Avatar f tn salbutamol is generic ventolin. So don't worry, you are getting the correct mediation.
Avatar n tn Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar m tn If you are continuing to have breathlessness, then you may need additional inhalers like ventolin, which contains salbutamol, which is short acting and helps relieve bronchospasm. It would be best to consult your doctor regarding persisting symptoms, he may prescribe additional inhalers or he may change the dose of the steroid inhaler. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi, i I am using ventolin inhaler regularly for past many years. Also i am using Pulmicort and Singulair regularly. I am from India.I may be travelling to US shortly. I am worried about the availability of Ventolin inhalers. Some months i may need to use more than one Ventolin inhalers based on my asthma triggers. Will it be a problem to get 2 ventolin inhaler prescription per month in US.
Avatar n tn Ask him/her if you should also take pills to help you breathe, either SINGULAiRor something similar once in 24hr, and the inhaler. You should also have a rescue inhaler such as ALBUTEROL and use that only in emergency. I have posted a large post re: asthma and all, please read them, hope it will help you. Again do not overuse your inhalers. Keep an air cleaning machine in your home to filter out 99% of all polutants, you can get one for about $60.00 at K-mart or Sears. They help.
Avatar f tn after being on the blue Ventolin inhaler I had experienced severe headaches and a jittery feeling in me everytime I took it, the headaches became increasingly worse so I got took off Ventolin and put on Bricanyl Turbohaler. I have been using Bricanyl along with my brown inhaler and antihistamines as it was believed that I had allergic asthma.

Avatar f tn 1 - I am currently taking symbicort and ventolin, and someone told me that if I stop using them (even for just one day), I will have an asthma attack because of my perfume/irritant allergy. Is this true? 2 - What am I supposed to do if I have an asthma attack? Atfter I take my ventolin (for emergencies), am I supposed to go to the hospital or just wait for it to get better?
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Avatar n tn I have also started waking up in the morning with severe wheezing (relieved by a Ventolin inhaler) and coughing. What could be causing the problem? Also does using the inhaler too much cause migraine like headache symptoms? Thankyou.
Avatar m tn I have cough for almost a week. My doctor told me to took ventolin spectorant for 4-5 days 3 times a day. But i only took 2 times a day bec. I am relactant in taking medicine.may i know if ventolin expectorant is safe for a pregnant women for 16 weeks. Is there no side effects for baby?
Avatar f tn continue using your ventolin inhaler as needed and cough as much of the junk out (try not to swallow it) as possible and limit (preferably stop) smoking. If you choose not to stop smoking .... the symptoms will continue and possibly turn into COPD which is a progessive illness that will lead to a premature death. Please for your child's sake, help your and their lungs flourish by quitting smoking. Good luck and let us know if there is anything else that you need.
Avatar m tn You will feel a lot better then having to take ventolin all the time. Use one inhaler properly (try not to miss any doses) and see how you feel at the end. Use a journal (or the asthma tracker on here) to keep track of symptoms and peak flows if you have a meter. Assess at the end of one inhaler (probably 2-4 weeks) and then talk to your doctor if you don't feel like you want to continue using it.

1570941 tn?1295664225 Headache mouth and throat irritation, tremors and bronchospasm are possible side effects of salbutamol or ventolin. It is possible that your symptoms are related to the increased dosage of this medication. It is best to discontinue it at this time and check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Rest, ice packs and prescription medicine from your doctor may help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi i am having throat tightness everyday for 15 years. I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.

7748835 tn?1393868668 Hello. I'm 16, 5'6 and 118lbs. I've had asthma since I was little and I just got a diagnosis that it was moderate persistent asthma but has worsened since I've had that diagnosis so I'm sure it's severe now. I'm on Advair 250/20 as a preventor and I have Ventolin HFA as a rescue inhaler. I take Advair twice a day, but sometimes forget to take it. I don't believe it helps prevent any symptoms or attacks whatsoever.
2206935 tn?1373638605 I stopped using my brown preventative inhaler because I kept getting a lot of oral thrush from it. I still carry the Ventolin albuterol inhaler to give instant relief should I get an attack. Doing exercises and breathing to full capacity is good for the lungs so is breath control especially when you sing.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
Avatar n tn Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!
