Venlafaxine generic price

Common Questions and Answers about Venlafaxine generic price

effexor

1378325 tn?1285346625 Hi, I get my prescriptions through Express Scripts and they recently contacted my doctor about a generic for Effexor ER called Venlafaxine. The problem is, I now take the extended release Effexor and the supposed generic for this med is $70 more than the brand name Effexor ER. How could a generic subsitute be more expensive than the brand name, just doesn't make any sense to me. If I chose to take the non-extended release generic Venlafaxine, it would be $80 cheaper than the Effexor ER.
Avatar m tn I've been on venlafaxine for about 5 years now and it has largely been a success. However, recently the pharmacy had changed the branding of venlafaxine quite regularly. It has gone from 37.5 mg Effexor to Teva and now to Viepax. These are the standard release tablets not XL or XR. I sometimes feel that it makes a difference when I do change but could be more psycho sematic. Are these brands the same tablet or does it make a difference?
Avatar f tn I found the generic Venlafaxine were quite different to the Effexor brand name. Doctors and pharmacists have told me they are the same, but my body knows different. I got my doctor to wite Effexor on the prescription, which he did. Mind you, here in the UK we do not have to pay for meds when we are over 60. One doctor told me there was hardly any difference in the price, and wondered why I had been prescribed the generic and not the brand named Effexor.
Avatar f tn I have been taking the generic Venlafaxine for about 10 yrs now. I don't remember there being a difference when I was changed over. I am weaning off the med now. Which is what brought me to this site. My Dr. is cutting me back at 2 wk intervals. Due to my mail order drug company and usps messing up I went 1 wk w/o any at all. It was horrible and I don't want to go thru that again. So I am currently taking half a pill 2x day. next wk I cut back to just one half a day.
309783 tn?1271958229 Viepax is simply a new generic version of Effexor XR (Extended Release) The active ingredient is Venlafaxine. (Same as in Effexor XR) The patent on Effexor XR ran out about 8 months ago and now other pharm companies can make generic extended release Effexor. In the last 7 years Effexor XR has made Weith Pharm company 3.5 Billion dollars per year. That Billion not Million. Now you can see why other pharm companies are so eager to get their generic version to market.
1110049 tn?1409402144 This makes a big difference because Venlafaxine (Generic) has a very fast onset of release which may excite anxiety in some people prone to anxiety. Effexor XR has a much slower release and avoids this spike with it's extended release properties. Venlafaxine also has a pretty short half life also, which is why Effexor was designed with this slow release effect. This effect eliminates the spikes and fast drops from the drug in Effexor XR which is Venlafaxine.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 37 twice a day venlafaxine for a year now and initially felt great however 4 months ago I have been slowly feeling the same as I did before I started taking venlafaxine. I have frequent dizzy spells and get upset every day do I need to increase my dose?
822153 tn?1333062995 I know alot of people had that same issue with Effexors generic Venlafaxine. Sometimes I question the quality of generics because many are made in such places as China. I have also noticed that Generic Xanax (Alprazolam) is not as strong as the name brand. Problem is, who can really afford the name brands now days. Thay cost 4 times as much.
Avatar m tn Some people find that when the maker changes, and pharmacies change generic suppliers frequently if they can get a better price, that the new product isn't as good for them, which could also cause a withdrawal symptom. But again, that's assuming the drug was the cause of the problem.
603543 tn?1255294450 My dr gave me samples of generic effexor xr the other day to try, over the weekend i took them and had the most awful headaches...Im so afraid to take them now..Ayone heard anything about these?
Avatar n tn I hav taken Effexor Hcl 150 mg generic called Venlafaxine HCL ER Capsules 150mg, for years. A new doc wrote for the same medication in tablet form by mistake instead of the caps. Will it work the same for me?
Avatar n tn Can Venlafaxine 37.5 m ( which is a generic brand of Effexor ) be taken with 20 mg of methadone? Are these two drugs okay to be mixed? Anyone taking this?
Avatar m tn Really a good news. I will like to know the possible price for the drugs and which company are going to be given authorize to deliver the drugs.
Avatar m tn i'm posting a question asking for your medical advice as i've suffered from long term depression since i was 18 as i'm now 38 going through various medication regimes throughout that time. I've previously been on mostly SSRI's ie prozac and seroxat, with in addition dosuphin and amtitrypline. Prozac and seroxat worked well with me for some time until they "pooped out" on me.
Avatar f tn A study released in May 2010 by the Canadian Medical Association Journal suggests use of venlafaxine doubles the risk of miscarriage. Consequently, venlafaxine should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed. Prospective studies have not shown any statistically significant congenital malformations. There have, however, been some reports of self-limiting effects on newborn infants.
Avatar n tn True, there is no generic for XR (extended rlease), however, there is a generic for just Effexor and it is called Venlafaxine in tablet form. You may have to take more than one tablet per day to get the same extended effects, I don't know. Also, have you thought about getting your doctor to write you a 90 day prescription and purchasing mail order from Canada? It is so much cheaper. You can pull up Canadian Pharmacy on the web and get prices for generic and name brand.
Avatar f tn what do u mean by generic medicine, where do we get in India, I am from bengaluru,INDIA
Avatar f tn Patent comes off dec 2009 if I recall. As far as cost - if you have insurance once it's generic it usually goes on the cheaper generic copay list if you have that sort of insurance. so for instance if with your insurance you pay $30 for non-generic drugs on the approved list and $10 for generics on the approved list - you'd be paying $20 less/month for your valtrex. Typically it's 30% reduction in price when it goes generic initially for paying out of pocket. drugstore.
Business man2 This drug is still available as a generic, it looks like the price of the drug has increased due to higher cost for Walgreens to purchase it. I'm afraid the other drugs available for BPH will probably be as or more expensive than Doxazosin, but I would check with your local Walgreens pharmacist for more price options.
Avatar f tn s co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination. So if anyone has made the switch successfully, please post!
