After reviewing the medications I was already taking (to avoid any conflicts) she recommended Lamotrigine for my intense anxiety. I am VERY familiar with off-label drug uses, but I can find no information re: the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation.

Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.

Hello everyone: I have a question. I am taking Loratabs and I want off. I also smoke and have gotten a perscription for Chantix. It is supposed to help me stop smoking. It releases dopamine slowly in your body to help you fight your cravings. My question is this: can Chantix also help with coming off of these pills? any advice will be very appreciated. For genotype 1 patients who cannot take interferon, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus the HCV protease inhibitor simeprevir (Olysio), with or without ribavirin, again for 12 weeks. Hi welcome to the Hepatitis C community Olysio per the prescribing information sheet is intended to be used with interferon and Ribavirin. The same applies to Sovaldi. Per prescription they are not used together. However there have been clinical trials using them together "off label" and they have been shown to be highly effective when used together. You can web search for Cosmos clinical trial cohort 1 and cohort 2 to see study results.

You are talking about Chantix (Varenicline tartrate) that should be available worldwide. If not, ask your doctor for other suggestion for quitting smoking.

Hello, Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion) are the only two non-nicotine medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoking cessation; both are available in pill form and only by prescription. Chantix received FDA approval in 2006; Zyban was approved in 1997. These drugs can be effective tools, but users need to be aware of some potentially serious side effects. You can try that and they are very cheap in some pharmacy's.

My doctor had me trying to wean off too quickly, so I am now using the Point of Return (Label Me Sane) protocol, which is a very slow taper of 5% per week. Is neuropathic because a nerve compression or damage problem has not been found, or is cannabis like the off-label uses for pure anti-depressants? "The patient stopped complaining, so it works!" Despite the patient being too doped out to remember pains, difficulties, or otherwise have a coherant thought... Awaiting the pitchforks and torches.

Is the person having memory problems? If not, why are they taking it? There are lots of drugs that have "off label" uses for lots of drugs so perhaps it was prescribed for something else. The doctor can probably let you know what that is and why it's being used. I don't think it will hurt, but there are side effects in every med and it would be a good idea to check drug interactions, etc. Try Drugs.com. If you cannot speak to the patient's doc, can you call your own?

it is supposed to be a non-narcotic pain med....alot of dr's using for off-label uses...for insomnia and anti-dep. ...it does have alot of drug interactions so be careful...was on it a couple of times...no problem quitting.....all the best......

Has anyone been approved for Olysio and Sovaldi off label and on Medicare? I failed traditional interferon/ribavirin, have fibrosis stage 2, and waiting for approval.

However now that there is the FDA approved medication Lovaza that was developed from fish oil and although developed as an anti-cholesterol medication is used off label for bipolar (there may be other uses as well within a doctor's discretion) that is one that more psychiatrists are wiling to prescribe. I am prescribed Lovaza as a mood stabilizer and it has shown much help and since unlike fish oil its a specific amount that is an FDA approved medication it is safer and also more effective.

I also recently went to an MS Seminar who uses this medication (off label) in some of his patients who have AD. I am actually going to talk to my EP doc and my Neuro about trying this for my AD. I hope this works for you. Keep us posted on how it works for you.

Its orphan drug status and not feasible to do clinical studies in regards to treating MS and other off-label uses, the costs being in the hundreds of millions of dollars, makes it very difficult. Everything is profit driven! I've known people who have reversed their MS with LDN and strict nutritional protocols. Heck, if I couldn't convince my dr.

I've been prescribed it by my psychiatrist for anxiety, but have so far been afraid to take it, but my situation stems from a bad reaction to stopping a medication years ago so I'm kind of at the desperation stage. She says it does help some people. So I can't give you my own experience but can tell you it is used off-label for anxiety. It's basically GABA, which is something the brain uses to produce calm and pain relief, and is what benzos target.

What are you coming off of and how much? Seroquel is an anti-psychotic and its used a lot for off label uses like sleep,,Ambien is a sleeper,,Trazadone is also a anti depressant and its also used to help induce sleep,,Hydroxyzine is used a lot for itching but it has some sedating effects as well,,If you mix all those that would be a lethal cocktail. Your central nervous system will be affected and your breathing will slow.

I really think you will need a specialist to advise you, one who perhaps is familiar with off-label uses of the various hormones or protocols. I will say, simply taking estrogen does not inevitably produce enlarged breasts in every person who takes it, or every woman taking it for HRT would walk around with supersized breasts. More likely, it makes the breast region sensitive.
