valtrex

1628163 tn?1299535389 She put me on valtrex it seems like the valtrex shortened the outbreaks but i have tingling every day and i dont know why. and I still have outbreaks, so why is this?
Avatar n tn What is the possibility of being immune to Valtrex? Is there a possibility that after taking Valtrex daily that in a couple years it may no longer be effective?
Avatar n tn t happen all the times but most times when I am dry. I am 32 years old and he is 49 I have went to the doctor and I keep getting yeast infections. I use the over the counter meds fr it and sometimes the doctor prescribes me creams but it keeps coming back. Is it coming back because I gave it to him and he brings it back to me each time? He is a diabetic and is uncircumcized but he is very clean and has good hygienes in that department.
Avatar f tn Have they tested you for yeast and bacterial infections too? Everytime I've had a lingering recurrence like that it's because there's something else going on. Also just itchiness and soreness and no obvious lesion might just be something else like the position of the baby or something. Get it checked out. For pregnancy for the last month you should be taking valtrex 500mg 2x/day.
Avatar n tn Highly unlikely this is continual HSV1 outbreaks. Other things can go on down yonder such as bacterial and yeast infections. I would definitely follow-up with your medical provider to see what else may be going on. I have genital HSV1, I don't take suppressive therapy, and aside from my initial outbreak a year ago, I've had one small OB a few months ago that was nipped in the bud with Valtrex.
Avatar n tn Valtrex doesn't cause yeast infections - there's a good chance what you think is an outbreak is actually a yeast infection - have you been seen when symptomatic to test for yeast? All the more reason that Valtex isn't working if it's not a herpes outbreak! Fucicort is a corticosteroid cream, which would not help a herpes outbreak. Typically, it would not be recommended to be used on the genital area.
Avatar f tn s causing my yeast infections and he then prescribed valtrex..
Avatar f tn Your OB should be testing for bacterial / yeast infections. She can also culture the area to see if this in fact your herpes acting up or not. How were you diagnoised with HSV-2?
Avatar m tn t going to make a difference. wait a week after your period and go back to be tested for yeast and bacterial infections genitally if you still have symptoms. otherwise at this point, if you suspect you have a yeast infection again, don't self treat but be seen and get proper testing done. mucusy discharge and no lesions seen by your provider means it's very unlikely this was due to your hsv1.
6891585 tn?1385834341 many yeast infections are not accompanied by discharge too. not too unusual to get yeast infections like that in women. as our bodies age, our hormones change and sometimes we just get a strain of vaginal yeast that likes to hang on. should your sy,symptoms return, be seen again promptly. make sure they are properly testing for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally and not just visually diagnosing you too.
Avatar f tn Thanks Grace, Just curious, do yeast infections cause more outbreaks? I've never had a yeast infection. Another question i had was my outbreaks now tend to occur above my butt crack. Is it still possible to transmit it if i have sex with a condom since the outbreak is not vaginal? I was in a previous relationship for 4 years without Valtrex and didnt use condoms and my partner was never infected.
Avatar n tn I've had severe genital outbreaks for 2 years from HSV1, usually starting after my period. I wanted to know if I were to become infected with HSV2 genitally would my outbreaks become worse?
Avatar n tn The trouble is, that I have had recurrent yeast infections this summer, and consistently painful sex (almost always) with this partner. we have been together for 6 months. i have lubrication trouble, and often feel sore after having sex with him. On and off, I had to avoid sex with him because of the yeast infections. A week and a half ago, I was treated for a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn if you are getting yeast infections frequently, talk to your gyn about some prevention. I also recommend fem dophilus by jarrow. it has terrific research behind it that shows that it decreases vaginitis in females. you can buy it online and store it in the fridge.
Avatar n tn yes she took a swab for a yeast and bacterial infection, but she also gave me a prescription for a gel and valtrex. like i mentioned i'm very active biking, running and prone to yeast infections...and me and my boyfriend uses condoms. i asked could the redness be from scratching?
Avatar n tn I immediately went on suppresive treatment (valtrex) for the first 3 months I was outbreak free. Now over the last few months I have been getting more and more outbreaks until this last one which has lasted a month. I was switched to Famvir and that has still not cleared it. I am wondering if I am maybe not respondinig to anti-virals and if my outbreak may improve if I go off of them.
Avatar f tn Did they also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too? do you have a regular partner? have they had std testing that also included herpes testing?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with genital HSV1 about 2 months ago after what i thought was recurring yeast infections. Think I could have contracted it over 20 years ago and am wondering if hormones could be causing me to have outbreaks? I am 45. I had strep throat immediately after being diagnosed, thought I had it again 2 weeks ago but was not. Now some small genital sores and burning along with cold sore on lip. I am taking Lysine and not on any suppressive meds yet. Why are the outbreaks continuous?
Avatar m tn t your herpes reoccurring. Be sure to be seen today or tomorrow and get properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally. If you've had any recent encounter that would put you at risk for chlamydia or gonorrhea, make sure to test for those too while you are there.
Avatar f tn I have been tested negative for all STIs including herpes, yeast, and Bacterial Infections. Nothing seems to be working. Is it possible to have some sort of candidas but still test negative for yeast? Is this a hormonal imbalance? Please help, this has been going on for almost a year!
Avatar f tn They did test the secretions for yeast and bacterial infections. The doctor said yeast was present but not large enough to call it an infection. He also tested for syphllis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV. I was diagnosed with HPV about 10 years ago and haven't had a breakout since. This isn't what I remember the breakout as. I really don't think it is HPV, but i'm grasping at straws. Would a herpes breakout last three weeks and not go away with Valtrex use though?
Avatar f tn Prior to initial outbreak, I had a bad virus, extremely lowered white blood count, and wiped out immune system. Severe yeast infections from antibiotics. Initial outbreak was severe, and lasted over a month. Given the wiped out immune system, gave time to recover physically. Since that time, I have stopped drinking, cleaned up diet, stopped eating nuts, no bubble baths, sex, waxing/shaving,taking daily vitamins/probiotics/Vitamin C, and for the most part, taking Valtrex.
Avatar n tn You can try asking them to do a pcr swab on the areas that itch the next time it happens. Have they been checking you for yeast and bacterial vaginal infections too when you have these itching episodes?
Avatar f tn A swab of the first lesion (tiny paper cut like cut) was taken within 24 hours of it appearing. Then when the blisters appeared ( a couple days later) a swab was taken of them within 12 hours of them appearing. Both swabs came back positive for HSV1. I've had quite a few vaginal bv and yeast infections over the past few years and am quite familiar with thier symptoms. That said, I will go and get tested for these again.
Avatar f tn Have they checked you for yeast and bacterial infections? bv especially can mimick herpes as well as trigger more frequent ob's. You might also want to try suppressive therapy and take herpes out of it. If you are still having these symtoms while on suppressive therapy then you know it's definitely more than just herpes going on. If insurance doesn't make valtrex affordable for you, try acyclovir instead. the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.
Avatar n tn Last 2 tests came back negative for yeast and BV. Premarin vag cream, steroid cream, valtrex for ten days, pre-seed lubricant, baking soda and salt water douche and baths (gave temporary relieve up to 6hrs), vagisil helps with the pain a lot but seems to make her more inflamed so I am not using that anymore, vitamin E suppositories, Excedrin, ibuprofen. Nothing made it go away completely. Now I had gotten a UTI, probably from all the creams and potions and got put on antibiotics for 3 days.
