Valtrex and yeast infections

Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex and yeast infections

valtrex

Avatar f tn Have they tested you for yeast and bacterial infections too? Everytime I've had a lingering recurrence like that it's because there's something else going on. Also just itchiness and soreness and no obvious lesion might just be something else like the position of the baby or something. Get it checked out. For pregnancy for the last month you should be taking valtrex 500mg 2x/day.
1628163 tn?1299535389 She put me on valtrex it seems like the valtrex shortened the outbreaks but i have tingling every day and i dont know why. and I still have outbreaks, so why is this?
Avatar n tn Well thats good news. i don't want valtrex to ever stop working, unless of course there is some miracle cure! i followed up with my doctor and she said the mimic of yeast and "cuts" can be the beginning of an outbreak or actually be the outbreak. so if i have any of those symptoms again to start taking 2 valtrex a day and it will go away. Any new news about possible vaccines or anything of that nature?
Avatar f tn At this point, if you continue to have itching, you need properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally. the cream you were using was for eczema - if you have an eczema condition going on, not unusual for itching to be frequent. At this point you need to be getting properly tested for vaginitis and if that's not an issue, discussing with your obgyn what medications you can use for chronic itch.
Avatar f tn They did test the secretions for yeast and bacterial infections. The doctor said yeast was present but not large enough to call it an infection. He also tested for syphllis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV. I was diagnosed with HPV about 10 years ago and haven't had a breakout since. This isn't what I remember the breakout as. I really don't think it is HPV, but i'm grasping at straws. Would a herpes breakout last three weeks and not go away with Valtrex use though?
Avatar n tn t happen all the times but most times when I am dry. I am 32 years old and he is 49 I have went to the doctor and I keep getting yeast infections. I use the over the counter meds fr it and sometimes the doctor prescribes me creams but it keeps coming back. Is it coming back because I gave it to him and he brings it back to me each time? He is a diabetic and is uncircumcized but he is very clean and has good hygienes in that department.
Avatar n tn Other things can go on down yonder such as bacterial and yeast infections. I would definitely follow-up with your medical provider to see what else may be going on. I have genital HSV1, I don't take suppressive therapy, and aside from my initial outbreak a year ago, I've had one small OB a few months ago that was nipped in the bud with Valtrex.
Avatar n tn Valtrex doesn't cause yeast infections - there's a good chance what you think is an outbreak is actually a yeast infection - have you been seen when symptomatic to test for yeast? All the more reason that Valtex isn't working if it's not a herpes outbreak! Fucicort is a corticosteroid cream, which would not help a herpes outbreak. Typically, it would not be recommended to be used on the genital area.
Avatar f tn s causing my yeast infections and he then prescribed valtrex..
Avatar m tn t going to make a difference. wait a week after your period and go back to be tested for yeast and bacterial infections genitally if you still have symptoms. otherwise at this point, if you suspect you have a yeast infection again, don't self treat but be seen and get proper testing done. mucusy discharge and no lesions seen by your provider means it's very unlikely this was due to your hsv1.
Avatar n tn I encourage you to pick one gyn and start going there monthly when you have symptoms until you find out what is going on. Get tested for yeast and bacterial infections each time you go and also ask for your next symptoms to be cultured again for herpes regardless of the blood test results. Just because you know you have genital herpes, doesn't mean that everything that goes on is due to herpes. You can start on suppressive therapy if you want to take the herpes part out of it.
Avatar n tn The trouble is, that I have had recurrent yeast infections this summer, and consistently painful sex (almost always) with this partner. we have been together for 6 months. i have lubrication trouble, and often feel sore after having sex with him. On and off, I had to avoid sex with him because of the yeast infections. A week and a half ago, I was treated for a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn The result showed that it was herpes. She prescribed me with valtrex, first 5 days 1000 mg and the next 5 days, 500 mg. I had to put acyglovir topically as well. I was feeling fine until my next period. I got another outbreak. My doctor prescribed me a supressive valtrex therapy (500 mg daily). But my period started again and I am feeling itchy and unconformable (I might have a rash on the genitalia). It is the second week that I am taking valtrex, why would I get an outbreak?
Avatar n tn yes she took a swab for a yeast and bacterial infection, but she also gave me a prescription for a gel and valtrex. like i mentioned i'm very active biking, running and prone to yeast infections...and me and my boyfriend uses condoms. i asked could the redness be from scratching?
Avatar f tn Did they also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too? do you have a regular partner? have they had std testing that also included herpes testing?
Avatar f tn So get checked for bacterial and yeast and a blood test to check for hsv 1 and 2? What type of blood test or tests should I ask for? And if it does come back as both would you suggest valtrex?
Avatar m tn ve continued using Monistat and my symptoms have lessened. Could HPV cause really bad yeast infections and that is what I'm dealing with? I'm so lost, alone, and scared. I need something to hold on to.
Avatar n tn go to your provider and get properly treated for yeast and bacterial infections. you also have to repeat your std testing - you had all of it done far too early. You will need to wait 3 months after the encounter to test for hiv and syphilis. You need to wait 4 months for herpes igg blood testing.
Avatar m tn t your herpes reoccurring. Be sure to be seen today or tomorrow and get properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally. If you've had any recent encounter that would put you at risk for chlamydia or gonorrhea, make sure to test for those too while you are there.
Avatar f tn I have been tested negative for all STIs including herpes, yeast, and Bacterial Infections. Nothing seems to be working. Is it possible to have some sort of candidas but still test negative for yeast? Is this a hormonal imbalance? Please help, this has been going on for almost a year!
Avatar n tn You can try asking them to do a pcr swab on the areas that itch the next time it happens. Have they been checking you for yeast and bacterial vaginal infections too when you have these itching episodes?
Avatar f tn A swab of the first lesion (tiny paper cut like cut) was taken within 24 hours of it appearing. Then when the blisters appeared ( a couple days later) a swab was taken of them within 12 hours of them appearing. Both swabs came back positive for HSV1. I've had quite a few vaginal bv and yeast infections over the past few years and am quite familiar with thier symptoms. That said, I will go and get tested for these again.
