Avatar f tn I forgot to add that I have never had a breakout/rash. There is one cut that always appears and goes away with medication. I get it every month, since being diagnosed 4 months ago :( Not too bad, but I have a partner and want to do everything in my power to stop risk of spreading.
Avatar f tn call the dr. who did culture for positive herpes & find out if this outbreak is hsv1 (oral )or hsv2 (gential ). valtrex side efects are minor . take valtrex at night & u will not feel the side effects . keep your hands away from your eyes !!!!!! always wash your hands well after any contact w/ gential or anus . herpes can spread to eyes if carried to the eyes my your hands, just try to settle down & deal w/ this problem because herpes cannot be cured . herpes comes & goes !!
Avatar f tn valtrex and acyclovir have the same basic side effects. Valtrex is turned into acyclovir inside the body.
Avatar m tn Are you having side effects? Or you just want to know if side effects are possible? Side effects are possible with any drug.
Avatar n tn We use a lot of Valtrex as it is also the treatment of choice for HSV 1 eye infections and its generally well tolerated. Almost every medication made if you read the side effects will list blurred vision and often eye irritation. Don't blow off the diagnosis of dry eyes especially in females where it is more severe and much more common than males. read the section on dry eyes and appropriate treatment.
Avatar f tn My husband and I both have an outbreak every time we have sex which is ruining our sex life. Long term effects of valtrex use is unknown outside of possible renal/liver imparement & I'm just not sure if I should continue taking it. Anyone else have similar experience or advice? Thanks!
Avatar f tn It does bother me that's why I'm asking how good does it suppress the virus?
Avatar n tn unless you tested + for herpes being active in your eye, no reason to start valtrex. corneal ulcers are a side effect of contact wearing.
Avatar f tn The side effects are too severe to continue on Valtrex. Dr. said to try acyclovir, but research shows it has the same ingredients only in lower milligram strength. Has anyone, who couldn't tolerate Valtrex, have success with acyclovir?
Avatar f tn Has anybody gotten a stuffy head and "funny feeling" eyes as a side effect from SSRI's. I have had these side effects before but they went away after a month or so. I'm on Celexa and this stuffy feeling(like you are coming down with a cold) seems to be sticking with me. The med is working well except for this uncomfortable feeling in and around my eyes.
Avatar n tn She continues to have periodic blurry vision in the affected eye. She has constant headaches. the eye surgeon told her to see an optometrist in case she needs glasses. He opined that the headaches could be eye strain. She went yesterday and she tests out at 20/20. She tells me that if she tries to read she has pain. As an aside she is only 34 and did not suffer a recent head injury. She had been involved in a car accident when she was 17. This is the only trauma.
Avatar f tn It is not unusual for individuals to have side effects when they begin using a retinol product. Most manufacturers recommend beginning with 2 applications a week for the first week or so depending on how your skin reacts. After that you can increase to every other night and then to every night as your skin adjusts. I have used several products with retinol and this has always been the case for me. I do not have sensitive skin.
Avatar n tn Lysine is not the same thing as valtrex - not even sorta. Research shows that it doesn't really do much for herpes either. Most folks already get more than enough lysine naturally in their diets anyways. How long have you been taking the valtrex? What dose are you taking? Headaches are a normal side effect of the herpes antivirals but they typically will go away in a week or two. What mad eyou start suppressive therapy?
Avatar f tn Valtrex is not as effective on hsv1 as it is on hsv2. Does your boyfriend know whether or not he is positive for hsv1? There is a good chance he is already infected and doesn't know it If he is not infected, does he know that he can get an hsv1 infection by receiving oral sex from you? If so, he is an adult and making that decision with complete knowledge.
Avatar m tn Yeah Terri, I'm having a lot of problems with it. The only thing that calms it is the Valtrex, but the bumps don't go away. Now I have some eye issues going on in my right eye and all I can do is think that I've contaminated my eye on accident with herpes. I'm not at home until Thursday and my eye is really becoming irritated. Shouldn't the Valtrex take care of all of this if it's Herpes?
Avatar m tn For the Doctor:I had one iridotomy done to each eye, months apart, to 'prevent' drains collapsing", per my (then) eye MD... I agreed against my own better judgement, after waiting quite a long time.. since then, I've had occasional nasty eyeball aching....and recently rather intense aching, especially the left eye...Now I have developed a 'floater brown spot" in the same eye, and occasional webbing, with smaller brown spots, not always visible.
Avatar f tn I will I have been on it and experiencing hair loss they don't know if its from that med or a different one so they have me changing...
Avatar m tn I started suppression famciclovir over the weekend and had diahhrria 5 times the next day. Has this happend to anyoone else? Please share your side effects of any other meds or meds that gave no side effects. I have to call the doc and get something else.
Avatar f tn Also cannot see close up with my old over the counter reading glasses, and I have to wear my driving glasses with which I am able to see the text on the computer and phone clearly. Have not been informed before surgery of these possible side effects of cataract surgery. Can anyone tell me about the flickering and could that eventually go away and why do I see clearly with my distance driving glasses on the computer and not my old close up glasses. very peculiar for sure.
