Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

Today I was put on valtrex for my herpes outbreaks. I'm currently 24 weeks and 4 days and I know I have heard or even seen reviews that most women are put on it by 35 or 36 weeks. But I have been having outbreaks and just not taking anything for it was driving me crazy. As many ppl tell me its going to b ok I'm still furious and afraid out of my mind. please ladies I just need some reassurance,is there anyone who has taken this medication and am I taking too soon?

if you have discharge, go to be seen and get properly tested for vaginal infections. you can have herpes lesions anywhere in the boxer short area regardless of the location of your first ob. contracting hsv1 genitally from genital sex has nothing to do with the way you were infected. it's still hsv1 genitally, nothing at all different about it. don't assume everything that goes on in your genital area is your herpes reoccurring, follow up with proper exams and testing.

I started taking Valtrex for Herpes2, and I feel anxious,depressed, and I have been waking up with bad headaches in the middle of the night. I don't know if it is all in my head, because I just tested postive for this, and I have been dealing with this for about 15 yrs. I am still shocked. I have been to several doctors who blew it off as a yeast infection. Does anyone know of any alternatives that work?

I have had HSV-2 for 30 years, and outbreaks have been limited to about every 16-18 months for the last 15 or so years I've been on daily Valtrex. However, I am now having what I think is the 3rd outbreak in 7 months. It is very severe, healing slowly and presenting in a different location that it has for years. It appears many women are reporting a similar increase in outbreaks--or even having back to back outbreaks-- as they near menopause or perimenopause.

would just put me on Valtrex. I read the Valtrex website and the drug has not had full testing on pregnant women. This does not make me feel comfortable. Should I ask the Dr. to retest? Should my husband get tested? If the 2nd test comes up high, should I request a C-section to prevent any transfer of the virus to the baby since I don't feel comfortable taking any type of non tested drug during my pregnancy?

After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?

most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop. at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.

t have time to produce antibodies to pass on to the baby in vitro. Is it common for women to stay on valtrex the whole pregnancy as opposed to just starting at 36 weeks? I guess there just isn't much research yet on the effects of valtrex on igg testing as I've been told multiple times by different doctors that if I was negative at 17 weeks, I'm negative, the valtrex doesn't matter but researching it myself I find a much different answer. I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.

I was speaking for myself, but I have also read other women (not ALL women) on other sites posting that they sometimes have outbreaks during ovulation.

I have also read that once you become infected with HSV-2, it is pretty much impossible to spread the virus to another part of your body (autoinoculation) after your immune system has built up enough antibodies. So couldn't an uninfected partner technically protect herself from genital HSV-2 infection by contracting the virus orally from her infected partner?

Just wondering if anyone out there has taken Valtrex daily while pregnant??? My Dr. told me at my 1st visit that it was ok to take...also mentioned some women chose to just take during outbreaks instead of daily while pregnant, but it was up to me....just wondering!!!!!!?????

Hi there. About 4 or 5 weeks ago, I noticed some small white bumps around the base of the shaft of my penis, but didn't think much of it. It didn't go away so after about 1.5 weeks, I went to an urgent care clinic. The Dr. there had a look and asked if I'd ever had cold sores. I havent, but he didn't say anything more than that and never mentioned Herpes. He did no tests (blood or swab) and sprayed the lesions with liquid nitrogen.

Hi, transmission rates for hsv2 is about 10% for women and 4% for men and taking antivirals would reduce this to half.Women are much more likely to acquire hsv2 from men vrs a man acquiring it from women.

Today I did a blood test for hsv 1 and hsv2 before a doctor diagnosed the blısters as herpes but doctor examined me has given me zostex until the results come out. zostex is used for herpes zoster and as far as I know not related with genital herpes, he said it was also an untiviral for hsv ? is that true? should I use it till the results come out?

I just looked at several websites about this and only found 2 answers. One, there IS a cialis made for women. Two, women should not take cialis for men. No reason was given. Sorry that's all I have for you.

Hello, i had a hsv 1 genital outbreak about a month ago, i have had this for six years and only one outbreak since the first time, my question is, do i really need to stay on the valtrex for surpresive therapy, or would it be smarter to stay on it to avoid giving it to someone else

I have been on valtrex for the past 4 months (1 a day) if the symptoms I am having have not gone away for a period of 2 years ( symptoms are there for a week then subside for 2 - 3 days then come back ) this has been like clockwork for the past 2 years.

Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks. How long can this crazy virus last? Does it subside or run it's course within 6 months? I thought I read this somewhere. Sorry for the multiple questions- this is just so frustrating... I want relief. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!!!

I would not take Valtrex everyday for the rest of your life unless you want liver damage/failure. I took Valtrex for a little over a year to suppress the herpes and it worked well...only problem it that it elevated my liver enzymes which is not a good thing. Doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex and only take it if I absolutely need it, ie wedding, meeting, ect.

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.

Burning more in the Genital area but all over my body! I have been taking 1 gram per day for 4 months. I was taking for longer before but i stopped to see if that's what's been causing the burning for about 1 month but im not sure if that was a long enough wait because i still had the burning.
