Hi I have a question, some of the online sites for meds. for herpes says that there r meds. that can lessen the numbers of outbreaks or get rid of herpes, I was wondering if anyone tried these meds. and do they work, because most of theses drugs cost lots of money. Thanx for any feedback.

Yes, I was on daily Valtrex (1G) for a few years, specifically for this reason, and partly also because I wanted to prevent transmission to any non-H partners. However, the typical case appears to be that our recurrences lessen in both frequency and intensity as the years pass, as our systems get better at fighting the virus. My own recurrences pretty much dwindled to almost nothing in the subsequent 15 years following diagnosis. I got off suppression 2-3 years after getting on it.
my partner who i met has been on Valtrex for a couple of years and the pass year we had unprotected sex. I went and got tested and my blood work came back negative. She is ok with the results and angry that she allowed me to convince her and not using condoms. I just can't explained why we did it without condoms only that I love her and we are getting marry.

I've read many symptoms that individuals on here are having but haven't seen one yet that fits my description. I to have the red rash like places on the head and shaft of penis now for almost 2 months. Other than them being there I have no side affects. No discharge, itching, burning , nothing. However, during the initial break out of this the skin on my penis became very dry and was peeling off like crazy for about 2 wks or so.

they sell generics so you have to search for ingredient tenofovir or name of the generic drug and not by viread
The NEW Doctor tells me that the only difference between taking Valtrex (what I have been taking) to Acyclovir (What they now want to prescribe) is the number of times a day you take it. I looked online...they say that Valtrex does a better job of helping you not to transmit the virus (most of this information provided by GlaxoSmithKline of course). The supression study has them identical. I am in a relationship where I really enjoy our "personal time".

My Dr. wrote a prescription for 1gm daily pill of Valtrex. I already have stomach problems and am trying to minimize potential side effects with highest drug efficacy. Seems logical to take 2 pills at 500mg/pill instead.
Would this reduce stomach upset and/or improve absorption of drug? Thx in advance.
My story is I contracted HSV2 on the back of my left thigh in the late 1990's not sure where, but it breakout once a year during summer months one time a year. While it was annoying I didn't take anything during the late 2000's I somehow transferred it to my face (confirmed by swab). I didn't want it there so I started to take Valacyclovir it would keep breaking out every month or so I went on a daily maintenance of 500mg a day.
