My doc put me on Valtrex to fight the EBV, and i have been taking it rfor a week and my lymph nodes are shrunken and i have waay more energy than i remember having in a long long time. try Valtrex, if u have insurance. with out it, it costs more than $500.

while your boyfriend probably didn't get HPV from kissing you, he could have gotten the Epstein Barr Virus, which explains the sore throat. The Epstein Barr Virus is a very serious virus although doctors typically don't want to scare you and tell you this. It causes a really bad cancer...lymphoma!!! (i.e. Hodgkin's disease possibly). It doesn't absolutely cause this, but you have a VERY increased risk of developing lymphoma once you get the Epstein Barr Virus.

0, neutrophils 83 (High), Lymphs 6 (low), Lymphs (Absolute) 0.3 (low), my Doctor told me I have HSV and put me on Valtrex 500mg/day for "the rest of your life." After reading answers to similar questions on MedHelp I'm not sure he is asking me to do the right thing? Please help me if you can regarding this situation. It looks to me like the specific tests are negative and the IgM is inconclusive and often unreliable accordingly. Do you agree or do I have HSV?

m also unclear on exactly what mono is. Is it a disease, virus, or symptom? Mono, epstein barr, and cmv seem to be used interchangeably. Do I also need to be tested for cmv? Also, is the ebv contagious if the early antigen is very low? From the interpretation chart on my blood work I'm in the convalescent phase? What does this mean. I've been avoiding kissing my family so I don't get them sick, and my 10 year old is mad at me because she can't have any kisses.

LMAO Im sorry. Didn't think you would have, was just rambling. Well my PCP called and they are sending me to Rheumatology Aug 18th. . . he's suspects Lupus! After researching all my symptoms I have to think he may be on to something finally. . . . . i'll post after dr appt and tell what happened. (and Lupus CAN be triggered by EBV I found out). Anyone familiar with Epstein Barr test and what results might mean? I received my results via electronic email yesterday and put a call into my Neuro for his input, but of course, it being a Friday...I didn't get a call back. My lgG results were way out of range...0.0-22.9 is the range and mine is greater than 750!! And my IgM is below...range is 0.0-43.9 and mine is less than 10.0. Has anyone else had this tests/similar results? Thanks!

Can epstein barr cause dizziness, tachycardia, heat intolerance and near syncope.

I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus in July and am now suffering from Agoraphobia, depression and anxiety. My regular physician told me that it my last follow up for the Epstein Barr (even though I know I'm not fully recovered.) Now I can't seem to find anyone that will treat me for both phyical and emotional problems. Any suggestions?

Have you been tested for Epstein Barr or Mono? I've had both (I'm 29) and they mimic the flu but both have severe fatigue. Have you taken any steriod shots for any illnesses or pain? I am currently bleeding from vagina but I believe if it is from steriod, going to get checked out soon. I read that section differently. Saying that the Epstein-Barr virus may be a prerequisite to developing MS is different than saying that the Epstein-Barr virus causes MS. To me it's like rectangles and squares. All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.

Could it be that I have contracted HIV and the HIV virus is overwhelming my immune system, so that it can not fight the CMV and Epstein-Barr virus? Is the diagnosis of high levels of CMV and Epstein-Barr an indicator of a more serious immune system infection(HIV)? Do you have any statistics of acute HIV infection and the prevelance of CMV, Epstein-Barr in those patients? Thank you for taking the time to consider my questions. Have you been tested for Epstein-Barr Virus....that is one of the leading causes of Hashimoto's.

But, you seem to have some kind of an active infection, so it seems reasonable to suggest testing for Epstein Barr. Also, I would suggest posting your question on both the Epstein Barr forum and the Lyme's Disease forum, because these people would certainly know more.

I tested positive for a monospot the first time but my epstein barr virus titers were negative so I had to do repeat testing. Then, I had a negative monospot and only one of my epstein barr virus titers had raised. I have also been having oral thrush and fatigue and my whole body hurts as well as still recurrent yeast infections and headaches and dizziness. I have heard that there is a correlation between people whose epstein barr virus titers are positive and those who are experiencing ARS.

I was successful- posted 2 questions-one in thyroid community-one other re an extremely odd Epstein-Barr test result in cancer community-that will make sense if you read it. I'm hoping people from thyroid community will also read the one I posted in cancer community too as it deals with autoimmunity and relationships to other conditions-from a prevention/early warning.
