Do not spend too much time on this forum or any other website. You need to get out and live! .. forget about the stigma..!! hsv 2 might as well be acne! Sure we wish there was a cure for ACNE.. it sucks when you get an outbreak.. especially before a special night out.. there is no cure...but treatment.. like any other skin disease!

Then I looked into Staph Infection and that seems to more look like it but Im not sure. I started to take Valtrex once a day and I am 4 days into it and the spots seem to be getting worse. I have pictures if that would help. I dont have insurance and going to a doctor for a test is out of the question at this time. So the internet is my only help right now. The one on my wrist seems bad because I am a mechanic and keep breaking the scab.
However, it is well documented that valtrex and acyclovir perform very similarly. Valtrex is actually converted into acyclovir by the liver, so essentially, the two drugs act the same way in the body to suppress the virus. If acyclovir improves your quality of life, I would stick with it and explain the similarities to your partner - they are well documented and I expect you can find information in scholarly journals that supports the suppressive activity of acyclovir.
The initial outbreak was horrible and very painful. After the diagnosis my doctor put me on Valtrex 500mg daily for 3 months, I didn't have any recurrent OBs during that time. I stopped taking the Valtrex end of February and just a few days ago I developed lots of itching and seem to have only one blister right at the entrance of my vagina again. This seemed to happen just a couple days after i went in for my pap smear.
ve had about 4 since that time and recently I had a small acne breakout on my chin (which is not normal for me)...over the past week it spread almost like a rash, but it resembles the cluster of blisters I'd had on my lip. Is it possible that this could be Herpes? It's small leaking blisters and itch like crazy. I'm very embarrased and am having a little anxiety about it. I don't have anything on my lip and haven't had a cold sore for about a year and a half.
I saw my primary that afternoon and he did not see any signs of anything but gave me a 7 day dose of Valtrex to help ease my mind and potentially blunt an infection he said. Day 4 i noticed a pimple like spot in my pubic area (i have had spots in that area before) i popped it and put acne cream on it and it has almost completely gone away. I got results back from a full panel STD test including Igg for HSV 1&2 and everything was negative.
I recently got my first herpes outbreak (HSV1) and my mouth/chin were covered in blisters of varying sizes. I've tried my absolute best not to scratch them, but I've given in a few times. Always immediately washing my hands vigorously right after. But I noticed a couple days ago that I had what looked like a pimple on my bikini area. I left it alone because I was paranoid that I had spread it to my genitals and didn't want to break open a blister.
Three weeks after our encounter I discovered in total about a dozen sores located on my penis and scrotum (spherical and pea shaped) and about 4 located in a straight line along my pelvic line (dark in color and not raised). I went to the doctor who upon visual exam diagnosed herpes. With a prescription of Valtrex I went on my way thinking I had genital HSV2. He also prescribed me an oral antibiotic for acne which I took at the same time. The sores went away within a week to 10 days.
So basically, I havent been tested yet, but I'm 98% sure I have HSV-2. My doctor looked at me about a day after I noticed a pimple looking bump on my penis. She gave me acne cream and I used it for two days. I started to realize a larger redder area around the initial spot, first I thought the cream was burning me a little, and then I did my anxiety-fueled internet research. Called the doctor back, and she prescribed Valtrex.
Some of the lesions were tested, and a few came back for staph, but most came back with nothing. Doctors said wait and see, and I stayed on the 1 G Valtrex maintenance dose for weeks.
Meanwhile, my eyebrows and hair began to have flakes in it, and started to fall out. It is still falling out now.
I finally stopped Valtrex, and three days later, my face blew up again with these lesions.
They are very itchy and there is no liquid oozing out or if squeezed any debris coming out like with acne. I saw my dermatologist in Febuary to discuss with her and she said it was acne even though I was put on accutane, during that time which cleared up my face nicely. The thing with this rash is that it itches like crazy and its not going away with retin-A or an itch reliever cream like elcolm all given to me by my derm. I am running out of solutions.
Feb – Increase in acne type dermatitis with clear fluid on face. These acne type of bumps I get on my chin, cheeks, crease of nose and just out side the lip line near lips. They get red and quickly develop into white head looking pimples. Some times they are not just round. They sometimes are linear and almost look like little welts. When ruptured they have mostly a clear like fluid, but sometimes it is a whiter puss like fluid.
It is March 2014 and I am again taking 1000mg 3x per day generic Valacyclovir for 7 days and the redness and spots on my chin are only somewhat better than they have been but they are still there and never completely went away. It seems that the generic Valacyclovir is not doing its full job and am wondering if Valtrex name brand should be my next option or if there might be something else going on?
most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
The intercourse lasted for around 2 minutes and after it was over I saw some fluid on my groin area and on the pre-existing acne. I think this fluid may have been some lube she used although Im not sure if i can rule out if it was her vaginal secretion. I'd just like to find out what my chances are of contracting genital herpes in this situation. She did not have any sores/blisters on her vagina or around it.
acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
Despite my concern and pleas for further testing He said no and insisted it was acne and gave me medication for that. I went back a month later and got the same response with different meds for acne. He said as long as there was not a cluster of blisters there was no need to test.
In the mean time my daughter has had itching around her nose for about 3 months now. This morning I noticed 3 little bumps close together on her nose! She is only 7.
After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks.
Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side?
Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.
Thanks for the reply. Well if valtrex doesnt affect the results,wouldnt 55days be enough for conclusion? As doctors say 6weeks is quite enough for antihiv tests except cemotherapy patients?
Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.
If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex?
