valtrex

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with several different conditions, one of which is Chronic Epstein Barr virus and chronic fatigue syndrome. I am experiencing muscle contractions of both lower legs with burning in the muscles and what feels like the shin bones. M'y feet are swelled and I'm unable to walk more then 2-3 steps before my legs start to shake like I'm about to fall from muscle weakness.
Avatar f tn I have been on valtrex for suppression of hsv 2 for 16yrs and continue to have outbreaks almost monthly. Sores in vaginal area are less noticeable but other symptoms such as fatigue, headache, swollen glands, back pain still persist. My husband and I both have an outbreak every time we have sex which is ruining our sex life. Long term effects of valtrex use is unknown outside of possible renal/liver imparement & I'm just not sure if I should continue taking it.
Avatar f tn These two drugs should be okay to take together. I have a drug book, as I am in school, and I read both of these drugs... There is no contraindication in taking these drugs together. You may want to make sure and drink extra water, as both have some constipation as a side effect, but other than that, you should be okay.
Avatar f tn In the absence of suppressive treatment with valacyclovir, I continue to have genital outbreaks anywhere from every 6-12 weeks. I recently stopped all treatment and validated that I still get moderately severe outbreaks every 6 - 12 weeks. I have not other health issues and exercise regularly. I also avoid all of the "suspect" foods (i.e.: nuts, chocolate, etc.) I understand that recurrent genital outbreaks of HSV 1 are extremely rare, particularly this long after diagnosis.
Avatar m tn One last question (I promise), in people who have outbreaks and use valacyclovir for chronic suppression, is there any clinical or research evidence of resistance the the drug emerging over time.
Avatar n tn Help! I have seen 16 drs who do not believe in chronic fatigue. I can not even get out of be and I have been on provigil and adderall neither of which help me at all. I have also been to the emergency and my thyroid is supposedly level. They just tell me that they can not do anything for me. Is there any help for me out there?
Avatar f tn m sorry to hear about the fatigue worsening. Have you discussed chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) with your doctor? Because the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is unknown, treatment programs are directed at relief of symptoms. The goal is to regain some level of function and well-being. Always talk to your doctor about any treatment decisions for CFS which is based on your overall medical condition and current symptoms.
Avatar n tn You probably have a thryroid problem and need a thyroid test. You sound hypothyroid. Go to the doctor. take care and write back and let us know how you got on. Good luck!
Avatar m tn It soulds like you could still have lyme disease. It can cause all your symptoms and chronic fatigue. Lyme can be misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn With the pruritus and pain after alcohol consumption could lymphoma be a possibility? What about Human T-lymphptropic virus, Post-viral fatigue syndrome, Chronic Lyme, viral arthritus, or others? I have an appointment with an infectious diseases specialist and a neurologist next week. Any recommendations on what all this might be?
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from chronic fatigue for some time and this has hamper my ability to work.It may be linked to my depression. Can you tell me what is the best medicine for chronic fatigue ?
Avatar m tn Hi, There is a strong relationship between stress, immunity and activation of latent virus in the aetipathogenesis of chronic fatigue syndrome.Antidepressants, antianxiety drugs, exercise, diet changes, life style modification are the available treatment options. Your friend seems to have tried all sorts of treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy, support groups and professional counseling may be helpful. Tell him to seek the opinion of an expert rheumatologist. That might be useful.

4140898 tn?1350227655 What causes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Because i'v suffered from CFS since i was in grade 4 (i'm now in grade 11) but i was only diagnosed with it at the beginning of last year.I was just wondering if it was caused by the bullying i was going through in grade 4 through to grade 7.The bullying was only words by the boys saying i'm fat and stuff like that. I kept the bullying to myself tho.So do you think that could be a possible reason i have CFS? or maybe something else?
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 32 and I suffer from chronic fatigue. It sort of comes and goes, it has peaked this way (but never this bad) in the past and every time I went for a check up they ruled out thyroid issues. I am Anaemic because I have had very heavy periods since the age of thirteen and haven't skipped a period in my life, I take iron supplements and try to eat iron rich foods where I can. Well I'm struggling with fatigue again and this time it's worse than I've ever experienced it.
1316973 tn?1313257227 What tests do I need now, and what does anyone know about chronic fatigue syndrome? A doctor I came across suggested I might have it. How would one know?
704329 tn?1518523098 The most obvious symptom of CFS is chronic fatigue (not corrected by sleep or rest), but this usually goes along with additional symptoms, such as joint and/or muscle pain and soreness, central nervous system problems (memory loss, brain fog, cognative problems, headaches, etc.), bowel problems (irritable bowel, diarrhea, etc.), sleep difficulties, vision and hearing problems, etc.
