Using nuvaring for four weeks

Common Questions and Answers about Using nuvaring for four weeks

nuvaring

Avatar m tn After three weeks the ring should be removed and during this one week ring-free break the levels of the hormones in your blood drop, which results in a withdrawal bleed. If the ring was left in for more than four weeks, then it becomes less effective and you may need a pregnancy test .You may need to use condoms or not have sex for the first seven days after the new ring is inserted. It is best to visit a gynecologist and get your doubts clarified since you have not been using it as prescribed.
Avatar n tn I've been on nuvaring for seven years. Recently my husband and I have decided to ttc. I took my nuvaring out when I was supposed to, had my normal period that I'm supposed to. I was wondering how long it would take for the hormones to get completely out of my system? We were thinking of trying by the end of the summer.
889551 tn?1416184483 Lexi is nine months old now, and I quit birth control three or four months ago because I tried the NuvaRing and hated it (my cervix was really low when I put it in, and it made it uncomfortable). This month I had spotting at ovulation, and I didn't think anything of it until DH told me that the condom had broke two days before the spotting started. At 8 dpo I started spotting and have been spotting brown and red ever since.
Avatar n tn I went home on break and checked my calendar and realized i should have taken the nuvaring out the day before. I took the ring i had in out, and went back to work for four hours until i could pick up my new nuvaring at the pharmacy after work. I put it in as soon as i got home, thinking i was putting it in on the first day of my period so i would be immediately protected. I woke up the next morning and now there is no blood, so i must not be having a period.
Avatar n tn I've been on the NuvaRing for over two years as well (but a few years ago for about 3 years), and I oftentimes have sex with my husband without a condom on my "off" days. I asked my doctor about this before I tried it and she said it was okay. I have not been pregnant. I have my period about two days after I remove the ring.
Avatar f tn I am using the nuvaring and have been since July. I took antibiotics about 6 weeks ago for a cough. I was suppose to start my period on Jan 9th. I started on the 4th but it was only spotting that day then nothing since. I've been having alot of pregnancy symptoms and need some advice. Has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn I currently have five small fibroids. My doctor put me on Nuvaring four weeks ago to help slow the growth of the fibroids as well as help with the severe pain that accompany them. I am on the continuous use schedule, wearing the ring for three weeks then, instead of an "off week", I insert another. I have had some spotting as well as cramping, (I've resigned that I am just cursed with terrible cramps) but other than that, I have had no negative side effects.
Avatar n tn I started the NuvaRing for the first time, I inserted 18 days after the start of my period ( or 15 days after the end of my period) and it has been in for 12 days consecutively. I had unprotected sex on the 12th day of having the NuvaRing in, at this point is it an effective form of birth control ?
Avatar f tn i bought a test for the hell of it and it said PREGNANT! i was in complete shock because i had been on the nuvaring for a while! i used at end of JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER and found out i was pregnant in october!!! birth control is never 100 % and i am proof cause i never messed up with my nuvaring the second go around!
Avatar n tn I just decided to get on birth control & my Dr. has put me on Nuvaring. I was using condoms before & just got tired of them. I have now been using Nuvaring for a little over a week now, & am currently not taking any other drugs (just on the ring). Everything has been fine until today... I am now experiencing chest pain. I do not have a family history of any blood clotting issues, but I am concerned because I have read some of the horror stories on-line.
Avatar f tn I left my nuva ring out for about four hours. Then a few days later I left it out for six. I got really worried and read that you should just use condoms for the next week. Ever since using the ring I have got my period on the same day, the 26th of the month. And I have been using it for about 7 months. So here it is, the 27th if the month and I don't have my period.
Avatar n tn The NuvaRing should be left in place for 3 full weeks. Remove the ring after 3 weeks, on the same day of the week it was inserted at about the same time of day. Allow 1 full week to pass before inserting the new ring. Your period should start during the week you do not wear a vaginal ring. Insert the new ring on the same day of the week it was inserted in the last cycle, even if your menstrual period has not ended yet.
1293858 tn?1272396271 I started using the NuvaRing on April 15th and before I used the IUD. I took out the NuvaRing on May 6th but did not have my period. So I put it back in 7 days later. On the 7th day I noticed around my nipples were sore and still to this day they are still sore. So is there a chance I could be pregnant or could his be due to the NuvaRing?
392087 tn?1252605359 NuvaRing® is as effective as the Pill when used as directed, but you don’t have to take it every day. You leave NuvaRing® in place for 3 weeks, then remove it for a 1-week ring-free period. You should get your period during this “week off.” (Using NuvaRing® as prescribed, you will continue to be protected from pregnancy during the ring-free week.) Exactly 1 week after you take NuvaRing® out, you insert a new one." From : http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/aboutNuvaRing/index_flash.
Avatar n tn Many people have experienced pains and light bleeding while having intercourse and using nuvaring. It seems to affect everyone differently, but it's very likely the nuvaring is the source of your problems. I would suggest trying a different form of birth control, as this one is obviously not for you.
Avatar f tn Hi. It's June 2nd and I've been using NuvaRing since March 6th. I had a period on it the first month, skipped my period the second month, and had a period last month. I put the new ring in on May 22 and I feel like I may be having some increased side effects since then. The first few weeks I was on it I had a lot of cramping that felt like menstrual cramps, but for the past couple of weeks I've had a lot of nausea.
Avatar m tn ive been on the nuvaring for a year or so now and i went off it for a month and didnt have this problem at all ill keep you posted thanks
1297979 tn?1272746390 Here's the story. I had a leep procedure (shaving off part of your cervix due to high risk pap) the end of march right after my period ended. 2 weeks later (mid april) I got the go ahead to have sex and start my new Birth Control nuvaring. That night we had unprotected sex in the middle of the night and the next morning I put in my nuvaring for the first time. Since then I've been having crazy hot flashes, I'm more tired, and sometimes feel alittle sick.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm 20 years old and I just had my period March 30-April 2. This has been my first period in awhile because I have been using Nuvaring and skipping my periods. I didn't put in my nuvaring on the day I was suppose to. I have had unprotected sex on the 6 day before ovulation and 4 days before ovulation. What are my chances of getting pregnant? I'm not going to put my nuvaring in just in case I am. It is too early to take a test so I come here for some answers.

Avatar f tn I recently stopped using Nuvaring after about 11 months. Over the last month I have gained about 6 pounds with no change in my diet and a big increase in my exercise. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, everytime I get on the scale, I have gained more weight! Now, today, I got my 1st "non-BC" period and it is extremely heavy, which is very unusual for me. Has anyone else had weight gain issues after stopping BC? If so, how long did it take for those issues to resolve?
Avatar f tn I have a question my first time using the nuvaring and I took it out that 2nd week so onJune 29 I took my nuvaring out and never put it back in had sex the next day and we had sex 3 times that day ... I never put my nuvaring back in so I started having a bad migraine and my stomach started cramping on July 3 and July 4 as of today I spotted blood a little ..
Avatar f tn I am married for 13 years....and on nuvaring..no action whatsoever! I have been off of it for about 2 weeks...and finally feel as tho i got my groove back. I also experienced no alcohol consumption or the want to, now that i am reading other posts. I cant wait to get back to the old me. On the nuvaring, one thing for sure, if it is the week before your period, take notice of the mood swings and try not to be mean, just notice how you feel that week.
Avatar f tn I was on the NuvaRing for 3 months straight and used it to skip my cycle. After the 3rd or 4th week I would take it out & put in a new ring. While doing this I still bled either light or really heavy. I stopped using the NuvaRing the week before Thanksgiving. My husband & I started trying to make a baby soon after taking the ring out. I have not had a cycle since i’ve taken the NuvaRing out and it’s going on a month now.
