Nuvraing is effective if it is inserted into the vagina and left in place for three weeks. After three weeks the ring should be removed and during this one week ring-free break the levels of the hormones in your blood drop, which results in a withdrawal bleed. If the ring was left in for more than four weeks, then it becomes less effective and you may need a pregnancy test .You may need to use condoms or not have sex for the first seven days after the new ring is inserted.
i bought a test for the hell of it and it said PREGNANT! i was in complete shock because i had been on the nuvaring for a while! i used at end of JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER and found out i was pregnant in october!!! birth control is never 100 % and i am proof cause i never messed up with my nuvaring the second go around!
I have been on the Nuvaring for 5 years. Everything has been normal until a couple weeks ago.
A few months ago I had a light period for 1 day, it stopped and 24 hours later started again. The next month I had a light 3 day period. This month I am late. I am suposed to put the ring in tonight but I havent started by period yet. I took a home pregnancy test todag and it was negative.
Can the Nuvaring stop periods even when I take it out for a week?
Also, I only have one ovary.
It is possible, yes. With NuvaRing, you need to use condoms for a month for it to be fully effective. However, you are definitely playing with fire. It makes no difference if you ovulate a few days later, as sperm last 5 days on average in the female body and 7 in perfect conditions. While calenders are helpful, they are by no means exact. It's safer to assume there is no safe time. You need to wait 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test with first morning urine.
The NuvaRing should be left in place for 3 full weeks. Remove the ring after 3 weeks, on the same day of the week it was inserted at about the same time of day. Allow 1 full week to pass before inserting the new ring.
Your period should start during the week you do not wear a vaginal ring. Insert the new ring on the same day of the week it was inserted in the last cycle, even if your menstrual period has not ended yet.
I had a MC in Dec 06 and got on Nuvaring a few weeks later (when I should have gotten my period) I found out I was pregnant again, so it is definitley possible! I would go into your Dr right away if you are having bleeding, because it could be another threatened MC, in my case my Dr put me on progestrone (after I found out I was pregnant) to help the baby implant right and help me not MC.
I have been on the NuvaRing for over 5 years and for the most part I have enjoyed it; the light periods, the ease, the minor cramps and steady and minimal mood swings. However, I have been having issues with bleeding during sex for the past 2 years on and off. I was diagnosed with HPV at least 5 years ago and occasionally have abnormal pap smears but for the most part have no pain or issues with it and have been with the same partner for 3.5 years.
So I had my birth control that was placed in my arm 2 years ago removed 2 weeks ago today. I was placed on the nuvaring in which I inserted the day I had my other birth control removed. I had unprotected sex with my husband three days after insertion. I am cramping and having breast tenderness. Is there a chance of pregnancy? Do you know if anyone that has gotten pregnant while switching over to the nuvaring?
I just decided to get on birth control & my Dr. has put me on Nuvaring. I was using condoms before & just got tired of them. I have now been using Nuvaring for a little over a week now, & am currently not taking any other drugs (just on the ring). Everything has been fine until today... I am now experiencing chest pain. I do not have a family history of any blood clotting issues, but I am concerned because I have read some of the horror stories on-line.
I was on nuvaring for 2 years. In for 21 days. Out for 7. Never ever ever had sex during the 7 out. New one in for 21 days. I was very careful. And then march I took it out and nothing happened. So to rule it out before calling the doctor I took a test. Sure enough I'm pregnant. So if I can get pregnant aftrr being so carefull I wouldnt rule it out for you. Wait about 2 weeks and test. Or call your doctor and ask for guidance. There is always plan b if you in the time frame for it to work.

When I was previously on NuvaRing, I always had heavy periods. I have taken 8 tests- all which are negative including one last month. I was going to test again, but I figure I'd have a positive and symptoms by now as I'd be about 14 weeks.
What could the problem be? Hormones?
This vaginal ring is supposed to "work" properly for 3 weeks in a row.

I am married for 13 years....and on nuvaring..no action whatsoever! I have been off of it for about 2 weeks...and finally feel as tho i got my groove back. I also experienced no alcohol consumption or the want to, now that i am reading other posts. I cant wait to get back to the old me. On the nuvaring, one thing for sure, if it is the week before your period, take notice of the mood swings and try not to be mean, just notice how you feel that week.
