Avatar f tn Hydoxyzine worked wonders for me (once I got a high enough dose). I take 25 - 50 mg. every 6 hours. I had a bad rash all over my body except my face and buttocks and it stopped the itching and is clearing the rash. I wish they would have started it in Dec,. but it seems with these side effects we are all re-inventing the wheel. The docs seem clueless.
Avatar m tn The primary symptom of rhinitis is a runny nose along with sneezing, watering of the eyes, congestion of the nose and itchy nose, throat, eyes, and ears. You are right in saying that steam inhalation is beneficial in rhinitis. Along with steam inhalation, you can take nonsedating antihistamines like cetirizine (Zyrtec) or loratadine (Claritin). Moreover decongestants and topical decongestants may help in reducing congestion of the nose.
Avatar n tn In this a small amount of allergen is introduced into the skin of the forearm and the reaction of the skin is noted. If there is any redness then that person is allergic to the allergen introduced. You can also get blood tests like RAST done. Treatment mainly consists of antihistaminics, steroid nasal sprays and decongestants. If the symptoms are intense then you can go in for immunotherapy.
Avatar n tn I get small white lesions on my inside cheeks and it feel like a scratch on the right side of my throat when I swallow. All started after using Flonase for several nights. Oral Thrush maybe! Any Ideas.
Avatar n tn I had contractions quite early at 26 weeks so my doc put me on progestrone tablets. Earlier i took it orally and it caused a lot of heartburn. So this week the doc changed the medicine to be taken vaginally.. now there's no instructions on the pack. And i have never used any medicine vaginally. So i am totally clueless. How do i use it?? I read online but it says u supposed to push it with an applicator and my medicine doesnt have an applicator. Has anyone ever used vaginal tablets?
Avatar f tn thanks for all your help, i am not taking the sleeping tablet anymore, i spoke with my sis in law she is a doc, she told me that i had only been on them a short time so there would be no withdrawels, i slept pretty bad last night but not as bad as i thought i would, i am more angry with the doc for putting me in the situation, i am a nurse but we dont use these tablets where i work,so i had no prior knowledge to them i stupidly assumed because the doctor was giving them to me and he never mentio
Avatar m tn I'm allergic and I know it! I've been allergic ever since I was a little boy and I've learned to live with that. My problem is that during the last couple of years, I seem to get more and more sensitive to the allergens that trigger my reactions, as well as more prone to have shortness of breath as a primary reaction! This year, although spring hadn't affected me so far, I happened to catch a cold (whether it was the flu, a cold or bacterial infection I don't know!
Avatar n tn On the few occasions that this happens the Doc prescribes a short 30mg 6 tablets a day course of Prednisolone tablets which usually clears up my Asthma symptoms. My concern is the side effects that are related to Prednisolone tablets i.e. thinning of the bonnes, what I would like to know is would it be a good idea to take calcium tablets on a regular basis or just when I’m on the Prednisolone or are they worth taking at all? Any advice would be most appreciated.
Avatar f tn Depends on whether the swelling is from fluid retention or something else. Where would you get "fluid" tablets? Has the doctor already prescribed them for you? There are probably directions how to use them then. If this is something new, you should check in with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Most cough and cold medications are actually okay to take with Warfarin, as long as they don't contain any steroid or non-steroidal antiinflammatory (like Advil or Motrin). These also thin the blood, and can be a problem when combined with Warfarin. For a cough, try something like guaifenesin, like Robitussin Severe Congestion Liquagels or Mucinex. Avoid dextramethorphan, like Robitussin DM.
Avatar m tn He gave me penicillin kind of medicine for 1 week course and levocetirizine for allergies. It is now my 4th day of the treatment but still the same problem. I still have that "floating kind of feeling". I will just wait for the last day of taking my medicine then I am going back to him for follow up.

Avatar m tn I experience random swelling (or welts the size of the palm of your hand) on most parts of my body and moreover on the soles of my feet, hands and fingers. I also experience swelling round my waist area, buttocks, thighs and upper/lower arms. I have on two occasions (one recently) experienced swelling of my lower lip spreading from one side to the full lip and required hospital treatment in the form of IV steroids and anti-histamines to reduce the pressure and pain.
Avatar f tn I have seen an ENT specialist at Max Hospitals Delhi, and he has prescribed Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets for allergy...could allergy make some people choke on food?
768044 tn?1294223436 t mean that some people might find they do get great results from the tablets even if the zomig is absorbed better in terms of a nasal spray... so, if the tablets DO work for you, I'd never suggest switching to the nasal spray just because the nasal spray is "supposed" to work better.) I liked the maxalt for a while. A lot of my friends use it. It also tastes awful. But, it works really well. It stopped working for me for some reason, I don't know why.
Avatar n tn ve ever had, and my last case of Hives was 9 yrs ago. I was in the ER 2x this past month, put on IV steroids, antihistamines & Ranitidine. I had extensive blood work done for a multitude of alleries- all negative, Lupus, Lympoma, Lymes disease, CAT scan, all negative. I've done 2 rounds of Presnisone (which helped greatly), but 2 days after the last Prednisone pill- boom the hives came back bad.
Avatar n tn HOWEVER, you CAN and probably should take them as prescribed, which I assume is daily, as long as you drink plenty of water (aim for six glasses), exercise regularly, and slowly introduce fiber foods, which I told you a selection of those foods in my first post. You should also use a lubricant back there to ease the passage of waste, I told you about what kind in my first post. The reason the doctor gave you pain medicines is so you won't have pain, it's really that simple.

Avatar m tn ve been having very bad insomnia, and used Xanax from the 11th of this month to the 16th of this month. I was prescribed 20 .5 mg pills, and used 12 of them during that span of time (not quite 2 a day, but that's the average, I guess). Had bad anxiety attacks after getting off, but Im not sure if that's from general anxiety/mental problems, or from the drug itself. I had another panic attack and went to the emergency room for it and was prescribed Sonata 5MG (30 capsules).
