Demyelination is a symptom of pernicious anaemia since vitamin B12 is essential for the maintenance of the myelin sheath that protects nerve cells. Antibodies seen with this autoimmune disease - intrinsic factor antibodies and parietal cell antibodies.

Avatar n tn yes! It is possible to be hyper with 'normal tsh ranges'. I was misdiagnosed for over a year because I was 'within normal ranges'. Come to find out I had full blown thyroid cancer that had infiltrated to my neck. I am not trying to scare anyone but I am saying that often further testing has to be done. Mine was found with a simple blood test for thyroidglobulin levels. Of course there are other test for other conditions/susupicions.

Avatar f tn My cluster of autoimmune diseases is called polyglandular syndrome type 3. Vitiligo is common with thyroid disease. You don't have any white spots/patches now? I also had white spots with B12 malabsorption but those spots go away when I'm optimally treated (and comes back within 3 weeks without B12 - won't do that again!). The vitiligo stays around like a bad smell lol and it's roughly mirror image on both sides of the body. I have permanent circular patches of hair loss but not on my scalp.

Avatar m tn I have Type 2 Diabetes and was put on Victoza yesterday, my doctor wants me to take this for weight loss. I would just like to know if anyone has lost weight or has had any side effects while taking this medication. I was on Byetta but the nausea never stopped and I felt bad all of the time. I took my first dose this morning of Victoza and so far there has been no nausea--I just hope it lasts. Any comments on this medication would greatly be appreciated.

I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
