Truvada resistance

Common Questions and Answers about Truvada resistance

truvada

Avatar m tn attention entecavir works only in naive patients and even in naive patients it has 1,2% resistance, truvada is tenofovir+ftc (ftc similar drug to lam) in combo to prevent resistance and of coruse it has zero resistance until now entecavir is also less potent than tenofovir, tenofovir is the only drug with zero resistance until now, all other drugs have resistance mutations entecavir mght be used in case of adefovir resistance or even better a combo of tenofovir and entecavir
Avatar m tn Tenofovir has a excellent resistance profile especially in UND situations. Even if you are resistance to LAM, can you access Entecavir as a possible combo with Tenofovir?
Avatar f tn i really dont understand why use of truvada which is simply tenofovir plus ftc in one pill, tenofovir is the most potent drug against hbv replication and has no resistance so truvada has meaning as a business way to make money from patients with only side effects added to patients, truvada is more toxic on kidneys than tenofovir monotherapy the only thing that may justify your doctor is the need to suppress hbv very fast in weeks instead of a couple of months but 151000iu/ml maybe suppressed in
Avatar m tn or other adverse events when they used or stopped using Truvada for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), according to an analysis from the iPrEx study presented at the Eighth International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2015) last month in Vancouver, Canada. This is a potential concern because the drugs in Truvada – tenofovir and emtricitabine – are active against HBV as well as HIV.
Avatar m tn An international study found the antiviral combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine (Truvada) was most effective in treating younger adult hepatitis B patients with high viral load and normal ALT levels. Doctors historically have not treated this group because there appeared to be no sign of liver damage. However, doctors now know that high viral loads may increase patients’ risk of liver damage and cancer as they age, despite their normal ALT levels.
Avatar m tn I read somewhere that there are reports out there that Truvada along can clear hbsag at around 10% per year. Which is if true makes it the best antiviral option for us from what is available. Lets share ideas on this. The way I see it it is a powerful combo for hbv. 200mg of tdf and 200 emtricitabine.
Avatar m tn If resistance occur to Truvada (in the long run), would Entecavir be the rescue drug, alone or in combo and which one ?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I participate in the drug trial of Tenefovir (Viread) versus Tenofovir in combination with Emtricitibine (Truvada). I have chronic Hepatitis B and Lamivudine resistance last year. He gave me a document to read and I did a bit of research on internet on the side effect. My concern is the side effect especially on Kidney. Could you give me some advice if I should participate in the drug trial or stay with my current medicine Hepsera.
Avatar f tn However, I probably can not blame my doctor too much if it dates back ten years ago. But, this failed treatment may induce LAM-resistance in my body. So, I have to take either tenofovir or Truvada (Tenofovir 300mg/Emtricitabine 200mg). I prefer to take Truvada at the first begining, then switch to Tenofovir after HBV-DNA is undetectable. Also, I have big concern about my AFP. I am wondering if it is because of liver cell renaissance after damage. Or it is related to HCC?
Avatar m tn tenofovir or truvada but tenofovir alone is more than enough for most cases or peginterferon alone or combo according to hbsag levels so you clear hbv definitively lam shouldn t be used since almost a decade
Avatar m tn I have been on Truvada for almost 2 years now. For some reasons, the pharmacy couldn't order my prescription until next week, so I might miss my dose for 2 days. I called the doctor to have him do something about this, and he told me that it would be okay to miss it for 2 days since I already reached undetectable HBV DNA for more than a year. How could I dare to miss my dose since I've been told by him 2 years ago that I couldn't miss it? Am I going to be ok for missing 2 days?
794091 tn?1264986339 m still doing well T- cells about 800 .Just started new med combo ( Prezista,Truvada,Combivr, Viread ). They make me ill Doc says I will get used to them . Anyone been here ? how long does it take on avarege . It has only been a week .
Avatar f tn I had very bad side effects like dizziness , nausea, vomiting and also stomach problems. Sometime, I couldn't wake up. I am so weak. By the way, I have Viread( Tenofovir ) 123 mg expired date 1.201,anyone who wants it I will post it. I didn't use it anymore so I can post it free. I also have Tenofovir 245 mg but it is expired 8.2013 so may be it is not good anymore. I used it both of the only 3 tabts each and I stopped.
Avatar m tn I'll start 1st by saying I'm a gay male who sought out Truvada as PrEp as a way to further eliminating my risk of HIV. Late October 2015 I sought out an infectious disease Dr who was knowledgeable of Truvada as Prep. Prior to him giving a prescription I was required to have a full blood panel along with a HIV test also screened for Hepatitis. This is when I discovered I was Infected with Chronic HBV. I had elevated alt & ast as well as a viral load in the millions.
Avatar m tn I am worried about the side effects of the medicaments I am taking Kaletra (4 each day) + Truvada (1 each day). Im having nauseas and diarrhea and had pale stool despite i was completely healthy before this. Do you think I should take just the Truvada? Could the cut or the total stop of treatment lead to resistance if I finally have HIV? 3.
1407780 tn?1281689119 the best combo is etv+tdf because the 2 drugs protect each other from respective resistance mutants, monotherapy tdf, the only one available in china is etv but you risk resistance because you might have lamR, keep in mind that even in trials 2 had undetected lamR and developped etv resistance because the only way to know 100% is cccdna biopsy but these stupids didn t make this test even on the main etv trial
Avatar m tn I also did a liver biopsy, and that came up with a stage 2 (I think I was told there were some visible scar on my liver) Started treatment with Truvada 2 years ago, got undetectable HBV DNA within 5 months. Also, my abdominal ultrasound came normal. AST, ALT, AFP, CBC in range. My recent labs came up as follow: These labs were done outside of the U.S. July 2nd, 2010 Creatinin 1.19 (0.6 - 1.4 mg/100mL) GGT 25.0 (3 - 35 U/L) AST 35.5 (6 - 25 U/L) ******** ALT 30.9 (3 - 30 U/L) ******** AFP 3.
Avatar m tn and im sure theres lots of people taking truvada who would want to know. and i wasnt asking if truvada helps with corona virus. i was asking if it inhibits your ability to fight it off.
