Hello Drs, Just a few f/u questions. I had an occupational needlestick exposure to an HIV positive patient with a viral Load of 139. ( one hundred thiry nine) using a butterfly needle size 23 guage by 3/4. on December 6th 2011. I was put on a three drug pep cocktail of norvair, presista, and truvada. (spelling?) anyhow, I completed the 30 day course of pep and have had the following testing.

I started PEP 2 hrs later (truvada, norvir, raltegravir, and preszita), my initial results are negative. I do not know the viral load of the patient yet, i can only pray that it is low. I know odds are 0.3% but that doesnt settle my fears, i am young and want to live a happy healthy life with KIDS! DR. please tell me if you have honstly heard of any cases like mine that have converted. I am in awe and feel like my life is totally over and ruined.
She said his viral load had been zero since 2001 and that his tcells were 700. He does not have hep a, b, or C. She started me on truvada and kaletra. I took the first dose of meds approx 2 hours after this accident. I am pretty terrified that I could have contracted HIV. Im wondering what my chances are, and how likely it is that i will be ok from this accident. Im only 27 and have a 4 year old child. I feel like I reuined my life. I cant shake this feeling of dread and up coming bad news.
Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. I tried to vomit it up but I was able to vomit only a part (dissolved part) of it. Because of panic, I forgot to take Kaletra last night. I rushed to the A&E and asked the doctor's advice on what to do. Since I waited for more than 3 hours before I was able to see the doctor, I was already drowsy when the doctor talked to me.
Since the chances a quite low Can I stop taking pep or can I stop kaletra and remain with truvada take it upto 28days.coz kaletra gives me diarrhea.
Two weeks ago, i was in my bathtoom and i wanted to remove a pimple from my face with a needlestick. Before i used the needlestick, i dropped it in the sink. Afrer i used the needlestick ( and the pimple starter bleeding) i saw in the sink sonething that looked like semen, but mixed with water. I started thinking that my roomie masturbater and ejaculated in the sink. If that is true, the sperm was there for at least two hours, because he wasn't home at that time.
How can I change from taking Truvada in the noon to taking Truvada at midnight? For instance, should I do two doses of Truvada in one 24 hour period or should I do no doses in one 24 hour period to get it right?
3. When the doctors prescribed the medication I ended up taking 4x the recommended dose of Aluvia. This was due to me having received four cans of Aluvia,not realizing that each can was meant to last 1 week.

I have been taking Truvada since 2008, 5 months ago I did the pregnancy test, the result was positive.
I am worry about side effects to my baby if I continue to take Truvada during my pregnant...

His viral load was one hundred and thirty nine and he was negative for hep c and b. I took pep consisting of truvada, norvair and presista for 30 days with 100% adhearence. Ive had the following tests: baseline negative, 16 days on pep the id Dr ordered HIV pcr by rna that came back undectable. At 16 days off pep which would have been 46 days from exposure another HIV rna by pcr which was undectable. Six Weeks from exposure negative antibody test.
So I had a discussion with my doctor yesterday regarding the recent elevation in my AST, ALT ( about 1.5 x ULN). I am LAM resistance, on Truvada for almost 2 years now. Everything else (HBV DNA undetectable, ultrasound ok, CBC, fibroscan + all other stuff i have no idea) came back normal. AST + ALT was in normal range all the time but 3 months recently have been up a bit.
She advised me to continue monitoring my condition and warn me about possible resistance.
After several hours going from a hospital to another, I finally could get a Truvada pill in the very deadline limit of the treatment, probably between the 72nd and 74th hour after the sex.
I was quite desperate and I felt that the staff in this hospital wasn't too much prepared to take cases like mine with HIV risk envolved. It took too many hours, even though I tried to explain them the gravity about this situation.
t recall any specific moment/needlestick, but was going very quick in/out of rooms at one point, and realllllly hoping I just didn't have a stick or anything along those lines and didn't even rrealize it at the time.
I was really nervous after started getting this feeling after vaccines all day, so started checking my hands for "needlestick marks" or something like that...and found only a small, blanching mark on my left finger...
Will truvada and and a respiratory antibiotics have interqction/ side effects if simultaneously on both medicine?
or which antibiotics and safe with truvada for respiratory infection?
The needlestick injury happens instantly and not all needlestick injuries result in infection--infact very few do.In the environment 99% of people who would have needlestick injury would not be at risk because the tip of the needle has already been exposed to air and therefore the virus has become inactive and unable to infect.
