If it does pass I doubt insurance companies will cover the cost which is apx. 14,000 a year. It's a pill that has to be taken everyday. You can't get people to use condoms and I know for a fact taking meds gets old real quick. Travada is not without side effects.
Try Truvada. There are reports that it clears surface antigen at 11% per year. The benefit of interferon still will be there as it had a long lasting effect.
But etv + tdf is also a good combo. It is just truvada is optimised combo to be less toxic.
From taking entecavir for 6 years i can tell you one thing that just about all drugs enhance etv and sometimes the associated headaches are tough to cope with. And from what I take tenofovir is an even more potent drug with a higher dose.
After doing some reading, I see that Truvada+Kaletra (or Truvada alone) is a commonly prescribed PeP regimine. I know that Truvada is part of the Stribild combo, but Im not sure why this was the specialists choice? I saw that there is an ongoing clinical trial with regards to Stribild as PeP, which would mean that it is not yet approved for such purposes?
My questions for you are: Will Stribild even be an effective PeP treatment?

By emergency pill do you mean PEP?. PEP is given after exposure to a known hiv positive person.Is the girl hiv positive? Go see a doctor, he will evaluate your risk and decide whether you should be put on PEP or not. You have 72 hours.
I had an unprotected oral sex, with a small sore on my penis. Right at the day of the exposure I took one pill of truvada as a post-prophylaxis therapy. 1 pill and not more. After 6 weeks I have negative 4-th generation test. But is there a possibility that I have a much longer seroconversion period because it this one pill of truvada? Does it have impact on results or just one pill does not make a difference?
After several hours going from a hospital to another, I finally could get a Truvada pill in the very deadline limit of the treatment, probably between the 72nd and 74th hour after the sex.
I was quite desperate and I felt that the staff in this hospital wasn't too much prepared to take cases like mine with HIV risk envolved. It took too many hours, even though I tried to explain them the gravity about this situation.
I read somewhere that there are reports out there that Truvada along can clear hbsag at around 10% per year. Which is if true makes it the best antiviral option for us from what is available.
Lets share ideas on this.
The way I see it it is a powerful combo for hbv. 200mg of tdf and 200 emtricitabine.
I rinsed my penis and swabbed with alcohol after. I also commenced Truvada that evening ( approx 4 hrs post exposure) . Is this adequate . I have now been on it for a week . I was considering commencing kaletra as well . Is my risk high ? would you recommend anything else?

I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it.
The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
Due to very high risk demographic and the area, I was put on truvada for a month, due to open wounds in the mouth, having not successfully found out her status. Her age group is about 25% HIV infected, I should have thought about that before. I'm still friends with her though she is scared to get tested.
I wouldn't have asked you again were in not for the worsening symptoms I'm going through.
It's just 3 days i've started taking Truvada. And i am already started feeling sideeffects like-
1) numbness in legs, hands and arms (today in kitchen container fell from my hand)
2) headache
3) mainly dizziness
4) tiredness, feeling weak...like i will fall now...
Are these normal, moreover i'm pregnant and have high cholesterol didn't felt before taking Truvada?
Is Truvada making me worse or strengthening?
Should i report this to Dr.?

Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.

Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day.
The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.

Hello there i am a 24 years old male from uk, a few weeks ago i disgust to discover that my lover was hiv positive and have been on Truvada for a couple of months which she never told me. I am really scare because i have had unprotected sex with her about 5 times. what are the chances of me cashing anything since she is been on treatment? i am planning to go for test on wednesday but i am really scare.
