You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
I have been experiencing severe itching and redness in my face after the daily dose of Truvada, which I tried to take Zyrtec for, which helped a little, albeit not much.
Since I was able to visit the hospital in Bangkok just in time for the 72 hour limit, and the time at the hospital was around noon back in UK, I started taking Truvada+Aluvia at once, meaning that I am now taking Truvada + Aluvia around noon and Aluvia around midnight.

Thank you for replying to my post. I got a cystoscopy and CT scan done 3 years back. There was no sign of kidney issues or ulcers, but during cystoscopy the doctor did find 2-3 small red areas in urothelium suspicious for chronic cystisis.
Last year I went to a different urologist (since we moved). He said some people have hematuria life long and as long as you don't have any pain you should be fine. I am still concerned about the blood in urine.

I started PEP after a relatively risky exposure. However, I started Turvada 42 hours after exposure. I've read that Truvada has a limited effectiveness after 24 hours. Is this accurate?
I also missed a dose on day 10 and from day 16 got general lymphadenopathy, headaches and other ARS-like symptoms.
Can anyone help?
No more hematuria until 3 months later (this past weekend) when I had gross hematuria on 3-4 different occassions on both Sat and Sunday with the hematuria clearing up and has not reappeared. I had been taking over the counter Cold medicine for several days. I was being re-evaluated for the Hematuria and had a repeat CT scan w and w/o contrast as well as a KUB with and without contrast and post void on Monday before these last episodes of hematuria.
1 Truvada and 2 Kaletra at 7am while 2 Kaletra at 7pm. Yesterday, I took 1 Truvada at 7am but since I was in a hurry after dinner, I accidentally took one more Truvada last night. I tried to vomit it up but I was able to vomit only a part (dissolved part) of it. Because of panic, I forgot to take Kaletra last night. I rushed to the A&E and asked the doctor's advice on what to do.
He also said he’s been on the Truvda Prep for 2 months and takes it daily. Anyway, I’m still concerned and would like to know:
1. How effective is the Truvada Prep that he is currently taking in preventing getting HIV?
2. I can get tested using a HIV 4th Generation Duo Antigen/Antibody Test at my doctor’s office. How long should I wait to have that test performed for accurate results?

A few times a month there will be a period when I feel a burning sensation while urinating. The burning is mild and not painful. There is also flank pain, when pressed, under rib cage on both sides that won't go away. Recent health checkup found miniscule amounts of blood in the urine as well. Blood tests are normal. Please advise!

5 years ago had gross Hematuria and had CT immediately after and a cysto 1 month later. Both were normal. Had not had any gross Hematuria since just micro Hematuria when symptoms bad. Had some burning over the weekend and then gross Hematuria on Monday. Put on Cipro and bleeding stopped by afternoon. Sent urine for culture but not back yet. Had cysto today and it showed red inflammation . Report states: Erythematous mucosa. posterior wall and trigone No tumors. No stones.
Since the chances a quite low Can I stop taking pep or can I stop kaletra and remain with truvada take it upto 28days.coz kaletra gives me diarrhea.
