Avatar n tn 1 month later he was not saticfied with the drop in cholestoral so he put me on a fairley new drug called Trilipix. I take 10mg of lisinopril for high blood pressure, 10 mg of crestor, and 145mg of trilipix. After being put on the trilipix I started felling tired and having stomache problems (constipated and cramping). I went back to have my a1c check last week and it was 8.0.
1488429 tn?1289222119 For high triglycerides, I have been taking Lovaza for a month...last night, i suddenly noticed this horrible smell of fish, like Iw as standing in a fish market. St first I thought something had been in my son's pocket when i washed clothes. iw as taking clean clothes from the dryer and there was this horrible fishy smell. When I could still smell it everywhere this morning, I wodnered if it might just be something that I'm smelling as a side effect of the Lovaza.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. Yes I take trilipix and lipitor.
739988 tn?1386672969 I have recently been hearing about Lovaza (fish oil) for treating bipolar. Has anyone had any experience with this med? I have found out that my insurance covers it. Any side effects I should know about? Does it work? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I have high cholesterol and triglecirides. Doctor prescribed LOVAZA for my condition. After taking this medicine for couple days I felt bloated in my stomach and the bloatedness continued off an on. I continued to take the medicine for two months hoping my stomach will get adjusted to this medicine but one day I had alchol in the evening and next day I had a very strong Acid Reflux for all day . I must have had almost whole bottle of peptobismol and stopped taking LOVAZA.
Avatar n tn My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.
Avatar m tn Higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, the active components in omega-3s, can also be found in LOVAZA — the first and only prescription omega-3 medication. It is important to know that some types of fish may contain mercury and other pollutants from the environment. Therefore, the American Heart Association (AHA) cautions that some people should limit the amount of certain types of fish they eat.
63984 tn?1385437939 The Costco product sells for a fraction of the cost of Lovaza. I replaced the Costco product for Lovaza, and my cholesterol results improved even more. My Triglicerides are now very low, my HDL cholesterol is about 60, my LDL was 72, which is where it is supposed to be for someone who has had heart attacks and bypass surgery. Just a thought to save folks a bunch of money.
675923 tn?1296238011 Fish oil has shown some promise as an adjunct to standard mood stabilizers and I took in the past for that purpose as well as other uses as determined by a doctor or psychiatrist. However now that there is the FDA approved medication Lovaza that was developed from fish oil and although developed as an anti-cholesterol medication is used off label for bipolar (there may be other uses as well within a doctor's discretion) that is one that more psychiatrists are wiling to prescribe.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lisinopril (bp) for 5 years and Trilipix and Simvastatin (cholesterol) for the last 3-4 years.
Avatar n tn Lovaza (Omicor is the same thing) is recommended by my Cardiologist and I've seen my Tris go down. I've also lost weight and made a conscious effort to reduce sugar in my diet, which of course helps as well. A secondary benefit has been a reduction in skin bruising caused by aspirin and Plavix. The reason I take Lovaza is because it is a regulated product, the only one on the market that I know of.
Avatar n tn Here are the meds I am own - Questran - 1 packet for irritable bowl, Prozac for OCD, Allergy Injections, Methyldopa for blood pressure, and Trilipix for Triglycerides (nearly 1000), and Vitamin D. I am only 30!! I am overwieght but work hard to get rid of it with little or no results. They even checked me for Cushings. My TSH is low at 0.3 and I have a Goiter but no known thyroid problem. I have acne. Anyone know what could be causing my heartburn to be so severe?
315318 tn?1353251800 Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. I have not had a lipid profile done since starting on this med two months ago. However, since being a diabetic , I check my blood glucose (BG) many times during the day and what I am noticing is a clear trend in the BG numbers going lower at least over the last month or so.
Tbd If you want to take any type of fish oil for LDL or triglycerides, get your Dr. to prescribe Lovaza (which is now available in generic). Its a high quality prescription fish oil used to lower triglycerides and lower LDL. Adding this to my regime lowered cholesterol by 50 in less than a month! It also dramatically reduces triglycerides.

Avatar m tn I agree. The benefits outweigh the few, (if any at all) side effects from taking the benzo's every day for over six years. I'm 26 now without insurance, and they are the cheapest of the meds I am on. Trilipix is 184USD, Crestor is 189USD, and even generic gabapentin is 154USD. Lexapro is about 140UDS. Generic Klonopin is about 10USD. Remeron is about the same. And Inderal is 4USD. This is all per month, and I need every one of them.
Avatar m tn twice a day, Amlodipine Bensylate 5mg. once a day, Trilipix 135mg. once a day and Ibuprofen 600mg. when needed. Pravastatin Sodium 40mg. once a day and Alprazolam 1mg. twice a day. I have been to my doctor and have told him about it and he just says, its anxiety. Does anyone know what might be causing this ?? I am tired of hearing that it is anxiety ! Please help !!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn My Emory cardiologist changed me to Prescription Lovaza which used to be called Omacar. With no other changes, I had dramatic results in 3 months on 2 grams Lovaza. And when I thought it could be better, he increased it to 3 grams a day instead of 2 grams. Again, another big change in my lipids.I cannot exercise so a statin and niacin ( RX Niaspan) were later added with even more positive results of T chol 131, HDL 82, LDL 36 and trig. 102.
Avatar m tn it is warm and I think rash might be occuring. I am thinking its the mobic. hadnt felt right on it. Also taking Lovaza omega 3.. This burn cant be a pinch nerve? I have a feeling its a reaction?
Avatar f tn It has somewhat of a mood stabilization effect and given that I have schizoaffective and require a mood stabilizer I am somewhat helped by it but the main mood stabilizers I take are Catapres and Lovaza. Klonopin can be prescribed as an adjunct mood stabilizer but rarely has an effect as a full mood stabilizer as its main property is an an anti-anxiety medication.
225237 tn?1333138999 Fish oil is quite effective for lowering triglycerides. In fact, there's a prescription fish oil called Lovaza, specifically prescribed for lowering high TG's. If you're not already taking it, you should try that; there are many OTC fish oil supplements you can try. Good luck to you!
745393 tn?1345077196 I have tried a lot of meds for this condition, have taken advicor, lipitor, crestor, zetia, tricor, provastatin, niaspan, gemfibronil. I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. I need very bad to be on some med.
Avatar m tn Couldn't say which is best to use but Lamictal was the most effective for me as well as other people and generally used more than the others. Trileptal unlike Tegretol (which its clinically similar to) does not require a blood test. Neurontin and Topomax don't but they are generally used as adjuncts. I was not able to tolerate Keppra because of personality changes and its not used often for this exact reason.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Topomax, Keppra, Trileptal, Lovaza (anti-cholesterol medication used experimentally for bipolar it works like fish oil but is an FDA approved medication) and Clonidine (which I take having exhausted all other options). Those are only the ones I've tried and am familiar with. I wouldn't reccomend one over the other but speak to your psychiatrist about any of these options (or others listed on that site which is clinically accurate).
Avatar m tn I'm currently taking Lovastatin and Lovaza for high triglycerides and low LDL levels due to a fatty liver. This past December I pulled a muscle in my back which turned into a muscle spasm. I was prescribed Diclofenac SO EC 50 mg, Skelaxin 800 mg, Tramadol HCL 50 mg. Two days after taking my medications I had a bad reaction with a 103 degree temperature.
Avatar f tn Abilify is the antipsychotic least likely to cause weight gain but it can happen. Fish oil is good but better is the anti-cholesterol medication Lovaza derived from it which is used experimentally for bipolar. As per weight loss, I'd go on a standard diet or if its of concern go to a nutrionist. Its probably from the Abilify and usually not a problem but you would still have to keep within a normal weight limit in a healthy manner. As for Lipozine, a few words of advice, go off it.
