Trileptal therapeutic level

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal therapeutic level

trileptal

Avatar f tn am at present taking 2400 mg per day of gabapentin and find only some relief from pain and other feelings of discomfort. my GP thinks this level of medication is adding to my fatigue and tiredness.I was wondering if anyone knows of alternative drugs that can be used so I can go armed with info when I go to see my consultant....
Avatar f tn I did Trileptal instead. I had no issues with it. Then I went to a pain clinic where they think outside the box. They had me on so much medication before the pain clinic it was not funny with each symptom they upped dosages or added pills. I was a walking Pharmacy. I was on 4 anti seizures at once. Now I am on none. They have to keep tweaking at the pain clinic and it takes time, but I take way less medication and do not feel as gross from side effects.
767237 tn?1332640177 t trying to **** me off but when I asked for any warning signals of toxicity (about the lithium) she started saying that NONE of my meds are even close to a therapeutic level. It kind of pissed me off! I just thought that was a pretty strong statement to make to someone, not being a doctor. But your right my pdoc knows what she's doing and I just need to trust her. To be completely honest I'm feeling extremely manic, jumpy, AND IRRITABLE!!!!!!!!!
1374874 tn?1278686480 With all of the anti-seizure meds (gabapentin, Tegretol, Trileptal, etc) you have to increase the dose slowly according to your doctor's instructions to get pain relief. That said, I did not do well on Tegretol -- it made me a zombie and did not help my pain. But everyone is different. I ended up on Trileptal -- it has less side effects than Tegretol. I took 3 doses of 600 mg per day to stop my pain.
Avatar m tn t say which is best to use but Lamictal was the most effective for me as well as other people and generally used more than the others. Trileptal unlike Tegretol (which its clinically similar to) does not require a blood test. Neurontin and Topomax don't but they are generally used as adjuncts. I was not able to tolerate Keppra because of personality changes and its not used often for this exact reason.
574118 tn?1305135284 My lamictal was 2mg infantile and was working well until i had seizure with paxil. So each time i take a new drug i never reacvh what is called a therapeutic level. Why should i, if already my therapeutic level is so low instead of ruining my liver,... Could this apply to lithium as well, i.e. should i hope to shove swallow a 100mg say only or because the mechanism is different here that i should in any case reach at least 800 to start with.
Avatar f tn s common or uncommon but its not rare. Trileptal is similar clinically but better in one way in that the blood test is not required. I found that lithium worked well but had some trouble tolerating it for other reasons that were physical but did very well on Lamictal especially on rapid cycling. Each person reacts diffferently though. Speak to your psychiatrist about what is going on and if other options might be considered.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I experienced a problem with generic Trileptal. Kept increasing the dosage, with little relief. Then I started having memory lapses due to the dosage amount. The doc took me off of generic and put me on name brand Trileptal and we were able to reduce the dosage drastically and stop the pain. As for when to take the drugs, you are right, it's best to keep an even level of the drugs throughout the day. Best advice, talk to your doctor.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
1039200 tn?1314912008 Thank you for your reassurance, it seems that the medication I am on does need adjusting. For starters I would rather be on a therapeutic level of seroquel than an sub clinical level (for obvious resaons) and so will need to talk to my psychiatrist about this. It's also interesting how varied the effects of medication have on different people, I was naiive enough to think that I would be put on one medication and that would be it.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
233622 tn?1279334905 Side effects are minor, may cause some temporary drowsiness, mild allergic reaction, and decreased sodium level in the elderly. In short, Trilepital is an improved Tegretol, more effective, better tolerated and that has never been the cause of any fatal side effects.
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar m tn So continuous blood and urine testing is essential to ensure a therapeutic level is maintained (at least every six months and more frequently if there are seizures or a changing pattern of behavior, causing dosages to be re-evaluated). It is very important to reduce the phenobarbital level back to within a therapeutic range (under supervision of your vet).
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
