Trileptal level blood test

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal level blood test

trileptal

Avatar f tn s common or uncommon but its not rare. Trileptal is similar clinically but better in one way in that the blood test is not required. I found that lithium worked well but had some trouble tolerating it for other reasons that were physical but did very well on Lamictal especially on rapid cycling. Each person reacts diffferently though. Speak to your psychiatrist about what is going on and if other options might be considered.
739070 tn?1338603402 Side effects in the hemic/lyphm systems include for the test group reported ecchymosis (bruise or contusion under the skin) in 8% of the test group and thrombocytopenia Low platelet count) in >1/100 patients in another clinical trial. There was no mention of lowered WBC count.
1108262 tn?1273179266 if your Pdoc has started it,then it is a good descision as on Trileptal you need not undergo regular blood tests initially or later to check your white cell count. You will have to take this for a long time if you respond well to this medication which is generally well tolerated.
1374874 tn?1278686480 With all of the anti-seizure meds (gabapentin, Tegretol, Trileptal, etc) you have to increase the dose slowly according to your doctor's instructions to get pain relief. That said, I did not do well on Tegretol -- it made me a zombie and did not help my pain. But everyone is different. I ended up on Trileptal -- it has less side effects than Tegretol. I took 3 doses of 600 mg per day to stop my pain.
Avatar n tn To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?
1100992 tn?1262357216 i took tegretol for 2 months and caused me headaches, but i am not a standard typical example because i can't tolerate drugs easily. trileptal its cousin is much weaker. if you compare tegretol with depakote or lithium the 3 most famous classical old drugs for BP and mainly for mania then tegretol is the least harmful and this i read everywhere. So if you consider an MS then tegretol is your best bet.
Avatar f tn First thing we need to know is whether you took your Armour dose before the blood draw for those tests. If so, how long between taking the med and the blood draw? Second thing is that test results need to be compared to reference ranges from the lab report. So please post those. How you are feeling is more important than test results, so please tell us about any symptoms you have.
728313 tn?1260459629 The long term side effect associated with taking Trileptal is liver damage. It must be monitored and a blood panel must be taken on a regular basis to make sure your liver is OK. I don't think 5 days would cause liver damage though (since the damage is associated with a long term build up in your system). Are you pregnant? Trileptal should not be taken if you're pregnant. Other than that, you should feel normal after a couple days of stopping the medication.
Avatar m tn m sure the said test including biochemistry test on ALT level. What other items on biochemistry she has to ask her doctor other than ALT level. I'm not sure whether HBV DNA count has been included in the weekly blood test. Thanks B.
Avatar m tn s been 18 weeks I have unexplained weight gain milk in my breasts heartburn fatigue nausea irritation frequent urination not as bad lower back pain fluttering in my stomach that comes and goes I had a blood pregnancy test done 2 weeks and 2 days after the sex then another one 2 weeks later I heard that those 2 meds I listed can throw off the results for a false negative my stomach is hard at the top but not the bottom im overweight I believe I had a false negative results and just last week a ne
Avatar m tn Being female -- I can't answer your question about ED. I do know that I tried gabapentin -- didn't work, Tegretol (Carbamezepine) didn't work. But Trileptal worked well. It DID cause nausea and drowsiness. The pain doc said to take it a half-hour to an hour before eating and that resolve the nausea. He also advised taking a No-Doz (equal to 1 cup of coffee) along with the daytime doses -- and that took care of most of the drowsiness.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I experienced a problem with generic Trileptal. Kept increasing the dosage, with little relief. Then I started having memory lapses due to the dosage amount. The doc took me off of generic and put me on name brand Trileptal and we were able to reduce the dosage drastically and stop the pain. As for when to take the drugs, you are right, it's best to keep an even level of the drugs throughout the day. Best advice, talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn t have the same risk of blood dyscreias so there is no need for regular blood tests. Trileptal is gradually replacing Tegretol which is less in use now as Trileptal is much safer but has the same effect on mood stabilization. You should ask your psychiatrist about that. If you have any more questions about benefits issues ask me as I volunteer and do advocacy in that area. I'm sure there's a way you can find coverage.
Avatar n tn The unit of measurement cited refers to the concentration of ethanol (alcohol) by molecular count. If an ethanol level of 0.10% is equal to 22 mmol/l or 100 mg/dl, then 1 mmol/l would equal an ethanol level of .021%. This is a very low blood alcohol level where the average individual appears normal.
739070 tn?1338603402 The sodium levels are also low but the Trileptal or my diuretic could be the cause of that reading. We have started the weaning off process but the TN is trying to return so we are on the last week of taper of Trileptal and stating Neurontin and Cymbalta to replace it. My Ms neuro would prefer to keep me on a low dose of Trileptal for the TN and continue all the other meds. does this seems like excessive amount of drugs to be taking? Don't forget the nortriptyline and clonzepam too.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn As for Tegretol (the clinical name of what the other medication was) I tend to be concerned about that one because it made me psychotic and it can often lower the blood level of an antipsychotic in people, which is the reason why. However, some people find it effective.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if that was the cause of the numbness as I was coming off of the trileptal, since it lowers the amount of geodon in the blood. My reasoning and tell me if it is flawed is that as the trileptal came down the amount of geodon in the blood went up and it was too much and caused the numbness. I am really worried at this point and really need some help and answers. Please answer my question and I will get back to you with any other details. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level. I found out when I went to pick up my medical records from the hospital. Also, both visits were in the morning so I hadn't eaten anything since the night before. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar n tn My brother had blood test last week, his ALT is 81 but with hepatitis (A,B,C) free, what his problem could be? Is this bad?
Avatar n tn So even now, I have Epilepsy--but no reason WHY. This year I was changed to Keppra (because Trileptal started to decrease my sodium level). ***But one thing I wanted to mention....it can be frustrating, but you cant let her stop trying to accomplish her goals. My dad had to drive me to college for 6 months after I had a seizure (because I had to stop driving)--but I continued, and finished my Undergraduate Degree in the top 10%.
