I started to have knee injections, once a year, for my OA. It seemed to help until the third year, then I was given Synvisc. I am on my second round of Synvisc along with an injection of Kenalog for bursitis pain in legs. I have just been given my second shot and will receive one more next week. My question is I have been having the butterfly rash since all this started a few years ago., I have been diagnosed as rosacia.
Why am I having numbness and pain in my foot after total knee replacement? It really hurts.....one physician is giving me Lyrica. Any info on this will be appreciated.

The same thing happened with the 2nd injection. For my third injection he seemed to hit the same spot as in the first and second series. I did NOT get the calf pain and it did help my knee pain. This is just a guess on my part, but I think if the doctor does not inject it into the correct spot that it goes into the muscles and not the joint.
I am seeing a retina specialist in Orange County, CA for more than two years. My right eye had evidence of an inflammatory papillitis with probably secondary macular edema (that is what the specialist reported). My right eye was given a first subtenon's injection of Triamcinolone two years ago and eye sight came back to 20/20. The effect of injection was gone after one and half year. Again, I was given second injection six months ago.
A couple of weeks ago I elected to try a cortisone injection into the knee. I did notice a slight improvement for about two or three days, but after that things have gotten much, much worse - I'm having more pain and mobility issues that I was before the injection.

Injections like Synvisc act as a supplement to the normal joint fluid and help in joint lubrication during the joint motion. They are usually given to delay the joint replacement surgeries. I just finished the third set of injections; you will feel some pain during the injection into the knee. The cold numbing spry helps when then injection starts, however you feel a slight amount of pain from the pressure of the fluid passing into the knee, the pain goes away pretty fast. If you need fluid removed from the knee this is unpleasant. Extra fluid in the knee makes it hard to bend and causes additional pain.

About 9 hours after my injections, one in each knee, my left knee swelled up causing extreme pain and discomfort. After calling my doc. and starting on steroids the swelling quickly came down. Here's what I don't understand why only one knee reacted? And I am willing to suffer some discomfort for the relief I got from the other series. Any thoughts.
I am one month out on the right knee(worse) and one week out on the third injection on left knee. I was out and about today and I actually watched myself walk as I was going into a store. I did not limp as much as before and I somehow seem to walk kinda normal. That is a first for me in a long time. I didn't really have difficulty picking my leg up to set up on a curb. Those of you know what I am talking about. Those that do not know ( well-are blessed).
You may want to use Xibrom or Nevanac but Acular works as well. Triamcinolone injections cause cataracts and glaucoma so you must be watched closely for a while.
Although some pain and swelling are noted side-effects, I wonder if all precautions are being taken with the injection. Synvisc clearly indicates that synovial fluid is to be removed before each injection, yet my doctor has never done this. He has passed my questions off as something that is not important and said that the Synvisc is intended to mix with the existing fluid -- as a supplement, and that it is an unnecesary procedure.
