Injections like Synvisc act as a supplement to the normal joint fluid and help in joint lubrication during the joint motion. They are usually given to delay the joint replacement surgeries. However, it does not replace the joint with the "normal" joint fluid since it is absorbed and cleared from the joint within a week (hence you have to take it every week). I would not say that it is totally useless since there have been observed benefits of this injection in some patients.

Totally unxpected outcome. What are my options now?
I am seeing a retina specialist in Orange County, CA for more than two years. My right eye had evidence of an inflammatory papillitis with probably secondary macular edema (that is what the specialist reported). My right eye was given a first subtenon's injection of Triamcinolone two years ago and eye sight came back to 20/20. The effect of injection was gone after one and half year. Again, I was given second injection six months ago.
How do you feel other than the weight loss? Are you having any of the other symptoms of Hypothyroidism? Joint Pain, hair loss, tiredness, always cold? If so, then you might benefit from synthroid. It is possible your weight loss is a sign of hypo - there are individuals who are hypo who don't gain weight, just like there are hyperactive folks who gain weight when that is not the norm.

You may want to use Xibrom or Nevanac but Acular works as well. Triamcinolone injections cause cataracts and glaucoma so you must be watched closely for a while.

What type of epidural do you mean? Are you inquiring about a steroidal injection into your spine, hip, knee joint or other area?
If you are asking about the steroid injections into a joint or spine the pain releif can last from days to months. In some ppl after several injections the effects can last for years. Much depends on the location, the specific condition, the skill of the practitioner and how your body responds to the treatment.
He has to void heavy physical activity or prolonged use of the affected joint (such as jogging, tennis) within 48 hours following the injection and other than this there are no other precautions and at his age I suspect reactions to the use of synvisc injections to be the cause.
Give him anti histamines or steroids to decrease the symptoms and talk with his orthopedician before considering repeating the injection the next time.

The doctor injected me in my right knee joint and I thought I would die from the pain. The left knee joint was not as painful. After I felf pain relief. However, when I awoke yesterday both my knees where the injection was given , as I bent my knee, felt crackly. The right knee now "catches" as I walk-almost like something got dislodged. What is going on? I will see my doctor Monday cause he was not in. I am afraid to get the other injections now.
He said and I also researched test that can determine if suffering from Si joint - basically you have injection in your Si joint and if you receiver 75% or greater pain relief within 3 days then it's your Si joint. However l got instant relief from first injection them months later no relief from injection and dr didn't mention it again, I saw he again because same issue and then I also had been in wreck and he wanted to do both cervical & lumbar surgery which I said no.
On Friday (11/13 The Doc said he wanted to do the Facet joint injection.) So I gave in thinking the pain would go away or at the least not be as bad.Still in pain on Friday in my lower back and more pain where the injection was done.Now on Monday the pain in my back seems to be worse than when I went.Was up all night with back pain. Does anyone have any advice ???? They want me to come back in 2 weeks for another injection. Not sure what to do..
