Avatar n tn It has been shown that veterinary acupuncture in conjunction with anti-inflammatories (steroids) and analgesics (tramadol and others) is highly effective and may be more helpful than anti-inflammatories and analgesics alone. If surgery is not recommended, or if you choose not to have surgery performed, than acupuncture is worth a try.
Avatar m tn i haven't had a vicodin in 15 day but started taking the tramadol because it was "safe". So now I'm trying to take just one but my body aches sooo bad and I am crying all the time too. I have a bottle of vicodins that I gave my husband so I wouldn't be tempted to take it but now I'm wondering if I should use it to ease of the tramadol and then wean off that or just use the thomas recipe and quit the trams. I can't sleep! I have 4 kids I have to take care of.
Avatar m tn http://www.ivas.org/, or http://www.tcvm.com/Resources/FindaTCVMPractitioner.aspx Additionally, therapeutic cold laser therapy and/or physical therapy may also be effective. I often use cold laser therapy and acupuncture together on painful patients. You did not mention how old your dog is or what breed/combination of breeds he may be. You are welcome to post this information for additional help.
1550149 tn?1340000730 Tramadol is an opioid analgesic which is used in treatment of moderate to acute pain. It is a narcotic drug in nature that works on our central nervous system. Though invented much earlier, it was developed in the late 1970’s by a pharmaceutical company named Grunenthal gmbH. It is mainly used in treatment of restless leg syndrome and fibromyalgia in human beings. Besides, it has some other veterinary usage for rabbits, cows, dogs etc. and also in transportation of fish.
Avatar n tn Hello, my little chihuahua "Chyna" who is 7 and a half years old and 8 pounds had that happen to her too, and ended up having to have an operation on August 22nd at Cornell Veterinary Hospital to remove a herinated disc (C3) that was pressing on her spinal cord. My husband thought it had to do with petella luxation also because she did exactly the same thing your baby did, and in the same sequence.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply! I am preparing for it and will be so glad when it's done!
535089 tn?1400673519 I am really puzzled. Our Dog (Casper) has Arthritis in his front legs and has been in pain for a while now. Last month I took him to the vet for his Senior Blood Panel work-up and found out that he has Arhtritis and Hypothyroid Disease. Since his visit, he has been medicated with the Thyroid meds and Rimadyl (anti-iflammatory).
Avatar m tn s under control now (and has been for 2 years), but I continue to use Tramadol to help keep those last symptoms at bay. I typically take 2 50mg pills each morning (for approx. 3 years). I don't need any more than that. That dose completely controls my symptoms. I've been reading about Tramadol addiction online and am troubled. I know that the dose I'm taking is low-ish and that I'm not abusing it, but I'd like to try to taper down and eventually quit.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the forum! Good for you in deciding enough is enough. Addiction is progressive....as you have found out....and 1500 mg/day of Trams is dangerously high. Since you got your trams OTC in Mexico, I'm not sure if they have the same chemistry make up as they do in the US, but IF they do....you know they have an antidepressant component in them as well as the totally synthetic opioid, right? If you can taper at all, it would be the safest and recommended.
Avatar f tn How many do you take a day? Are you getting them from your doctor? If so, get in to see him tomorrow if you can. Tramadol is dangerous and hard to get off of. I got off of them over a year ago, and I would rather ingest poison than a tramadol right now! That is how bad I hate them! They're evil!
Avatar n tn There is also the rare problem of rupture of the bladder. In any case, the cat is usually very distressed, and in considerable pain (Imagine how you would feel if you were busting to wee but couldn't) The only cure for FLUTD is veterinary treatment. Get him assessed as soon as you can to see if this is the problem.
Avatar n tn I do not know whether he injured himself in any way His vet strictly limited his activity for a week and gave me Tramadol, which he has been getting (2 pills perday). Shortly after that, the limiping and hopping went away, but then he started trembling several times a day (whole body trembling). During the days that he was trembling, oddly, he was not limping at all. The trembling would often start suddenly if I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk.
15746739 tn?1442713123 HELLO FORUM I HAVE A QUESTION I BEEN SUFFERING FROM A CRICK IN MY NECK AND SHOULDERS I BEEN USING COLD AND HOT COMPRESS AND TAKING OVER THE COUNTE R MEDICINE LIKE ASPIRIN BUT NOT STOPPING THE PAIN BUT I'M ON TRAMADOL FOR P AIN BECAUSE I JUST RECENTLY HAD CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME SURGERY CAN I USE THIS TO STOP THE PAIN BEEN SUFFERING SINCE MONDAY I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.
464393 tn?1206755395 In cases where RLS can be controlled by low doses of tramadol (37 to 50mgs), the risks of long term use in that instance might warrant using the medication. THERE ARE JUST SO MANY FACTORS AT PLAY! Because tramadol has an anti depressant effect, someone who is depressed and in pain might benefit more from short term use of tramadol then someone whose socially happy.
Avatar f tn For tough dermatology cases, there are 2 veterinary dermatologists in England, I am not sure how far they may be from your location. Peter Barrie Hill Phone: 0 117 9289420 University of Bristol, Division of Companion Animal Studies Dept.
Avatar n tn It delivers a constant and controlled dose of pain medication for 3 days. You could still use occasional tramadol for breakthrough pain if necessary. Also ask about something for the nausea. Right now you want to keep him as comfortable as possible. I'm so sorry, but it sounds like you're nearly at the end of his life, and it's time to take a serious look at his quality of life. I just went through a similar ordeal, and know how awful it is to have to make that last decision.
Avatar n tn If screening xrays and labwork are not informative, then more in depth diagnostics or referral to an veterinary internal medicine or neurologic specialist would be the next steps.
Avatar f tn They used methadone to taper me off the tramadol in detox and were very understanding. Unfortunately they had no experience with buprenorphine here so didn't want to use it for the first time on me. (We are a bit behind in this country!) While in detox it was easy. (Of course as I was on methadone which is also an opiate and has a half life of 55 hours against Tramadol's 6 hours!) It has been very difficult since I got out and the methadone in my body ran out.
Avatar f tn 2 However, the limited professional literature we surveyed provided no definitive warnings regarding the use of garlic… especially in small amounts (as it is here). And lastly, Purina Veterinary Diets HA also contains menadione… a controversial form of vitamin K linked to liver toxicity, allergies and the abnormal break-down of red blood cells.
Avatar f tn After constant abuse my cycles became irregular. I did have a period where I broke out, after I cut down my use the breakouts went away. Vicodin can cause things far worse then acne though, like liver damage, kidney damage, and death if abused.
Avatar m tn My 2 yo, 100lb dog has frequent tremors in his leg (s). They typically occur when he sits but he can also have them when he lays or sleeps. The vet believes phenobarbital will help but he doesn't have seizures. Does anyone have experience with this?
1395422 tn?1308016251 Hello. My dog is 4 years old, I've had him since he was 8 weeks. Starting within the past year he sometimes poops in his sleep, like, in my bed. I know, gross right? It's not diarrhea, completely normal stools. It just happens when he's dreaming and it's not an entire pile, maybe just one or two pieces. He eats a clean diet which used to be Nutros Natural Choice, but then my Vet. told me to switch to something without Glucosamine in it.
Avatar f tn I found an old bottle (from 2004) of tramadol HCL 50 mg in the med cabinet, the bottle says take 3 per day for pain. For the last 3 days I have taken one per day, I don’t know if it’s helping, with my w/d’s, mostly mental cravings now, I kind of think it is. I have about 24 pills left in that bottle, with no intention of refilling and no intention of taking more than 1 per day.
Avatar f tn I know some people have used methadone for pain but I personally believe that it is for really severe addiction and/or end-of-life. My mother-in-law passed away from lung cancer in the spring. She had never taken a narcotic in her life. For some reason the oxycontin and morphine didn't help her bone pain and she did get relief from the methadone. But there are certain drugs that I don't think should be used unless you will never be coming off them again. Fentanyl same thing.
