Avatar n tn It has been shown that veterinary acupuncture in conjunction with anti-inflammatories (steroids) and analgesics (tramadol and others) is highly effective and may be more helpful than anti-inflammatories and analgesics alone. If surgery is not recommended, or if you choose not to have surgery performed, than acupuncture is worth a try.
535089 tn?1400673519 The vet prescribed these medications for a reason. If she advised the use of an NSAID to be complemented by the Tramadol, then owners need to follow that instruction. If one wants to stop the Rimadyl, they need to contact the vet first. You are not a vet and do not know how to use these medications. That's why they went to school and you didn't. If you are not a vet, please do not be giving advise to people about managing medications.
Avatar m tn i haven't had a vicodin in 15 day but started taking the tramadol because it was "safe". So now I'm trying to take just one but my body aches sooo bad and I am crying all the time too. I have a bottle of vicodins that I gave my husband so I wouldn't be tempted to take it but now I'm wondering if I should use it to ease of the tramadol and then wean off that or just use the thomas recipe and quit the trams. I can't sleep! I have 4 kids I have to take care of.
Avatar m tn The following link is an example of a research study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, comparing decompressive surgery for disc disease and electro-acupuncture. The findings show that the results were slightly better in the acupuncture group: http://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/abs/10.2460/javma.236.11.1225. You can find listings for veterinary acupuncturists in your area on various holistic veterinary websites such as: http://www.ivas.
1550149 tn?1340000730 Worked pretty good the first couple of weeks has helped with muscle pain but not so much with joint pain.. Also I am taking Tramadol 50 mg for pain daily, for about 4 months now and it is not working as good as when I first started using it.. My eyes feel dry and slightly burning and my ears feel like they are underwater with a buzzing noise when I lay down sometimes. Anyone else get this feeling with Tramadol? I am trying to figure out if it is my meds or just stress.
Avatar n tn My vet has now taken her completely off the prednisolone and have decreased the other meds mentioned above, and prescribed Metacam which seems to be working. She will be taking this daily for awhile or maybe for long term. Chyna is also recieving Acupuncture treatments once and week, and going to doggie rehab. 3 times a week., and YES, this has been a VERY costly ordeal, but i'd do it all over again. My friends think i'm NUTS. I do think in time she will be her ole self again.
Avatar n tn your veterinarian has already tried an anti-inflammatory medication, and if this was not helpful, then evaluation by a veterinary neurologist for spinal cord disease is in order. There is one near you: Steven F.
Avatar f tn For some, tramadol is a god-send. For others, like me, it's just as bad as vicodin in terms of addiction. Is your doc aware of tramadol's potential pitfalls? Too many physicians regard tram as relatively harmless.
Avatar f tn Another problem with tramadol is that it can cause seizures, which, while the potential for abuse is still there with hydrocodone or oxycodone, the chance of seizures is almost nil. With tramadol, the chance for seizures in higher doses is pretty good. Please be careful with tramadol (Ultram). It's not a great thing to get your body involved with.
Avatar f tn (10-15 a day). I have a script for 15-50mg tramadol. Should I use the tramadol to help ease the lortab comedown? Will it even help? Or should I go cold turkey? I've read other posts about tramadol, and don't know which way to go. I do know I want my life back, and I can't afford the down time of the painful withdrawls I get. Experienced advice would be greatly helpful.
Avatar m tn s under control now (and has been for 2 years), but I continue to use Tramadol to help keep those last symptoms at bay. I typically take 2 50mg pills each morning (for approx. 3 years). I don't need any more than that. That dose completely controls my symptoms. I've been reading about Tramadol addiction online and am troubled. I know that the dose I'm taking is low-ish and that I'm not abusing it, but I'd like to try to taper down and eventually quit.
2117936 tn?1334693230 hello and welcome. did the doctor give you a taper plan? you cant stop tramadol cold turkey.it can cause seizures. some of the symptoms of withdrawal can be,anxiety, sweating insomnia, nausea, shakiness, diarrhea, brain zaps.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication. Do not crush the tramadol tablet. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death. What is tramadol? Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Avatar m tn Ecspecially with children, anyway, how does phenobarbitol work to stop the pain of a migraine??? At the moment I am only on Topamax and take tramadol for fibromyagia, so I use that for the migraines as well. Triptains give me sever heart palapitations and cause my stomach and colon to bleed so they are not an option??? Any feedback???
Avatar m tn Hey there, Actually I am on sub for tramadol w/d. Tramadol has properties similar to morphine/heroin though much less potent. The w/d from trams is horrific. My doctor and I agreed to a short term very lose dose of sub with the knowledge that I may have some w/d when tapering off sub. I am taking 2mg once a day and am on day 11 free of trams. (yay!) I will start to taper down in the next couple of weeks. It has saved my life. I have no cravings, can work and be a mom.
Avatar m tn Do not substitute Tramadol for hydros. Tramadol is extremely addictive and some here have said they are more difficult to withdrawal from than some other drugs. You can find many threads about the Tram withdrawals. I would just stay the course the way you are now. It will be difficult for awhile, but SO WORTH IT!!! Good luck and you are in my prayers!!!!
Avatar f tn The doctor gave me Tramadol for my endometriosis pain. I have a full week of almost intolerable pain every monthl. Tramadol is one of the few drugs I can tolerate with regards to nausea (Vicodin et al seem to just make me puke immediately), and it does actually manage to relieve my pain fully or at least 80-90% (when I mix it with Aleve). The problem is this. I have to admit that I enjoy the Tramadol. It makes me feel good. Of course it does -- it makes everyone feel good.
Avatar n tn I do not know whether he injured himself in any way His vet strictly limited his activity for a week and gave me Tramadol, which he has been getting (2 pills perday). Shortly after that, the limiping and hopping went away, but then he started trembling several times a day (whole body trembling). During the days that he was trembling, oddly, he was not limping at all. The trembling would often start suddenly if I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk.
Avatar n tn my kitten keeps trying to use the bathroom but cannot. and he keeps meowing and walks funny. he is a few months old. what's happening? is it constipation?
Avatar m tn I have had very positive results using Tramadol for opiate withdrawal. I have read many posts in which people state that the addiction to Tramadol is worse than oxycontin or vicodin. That has not been my experience. I have been able to taper down my Tramadol use to zero within a few weeks without difficulty. I have had a serious addiction to opiates for the better part of a decade. Granted, I have relapsed several times and started using again.
Avatar n tn For a typical drug test (i.e. one they would use for employment or one they would use at a pain management clinic to test for illegal/improperly taken substances)...no, is the answer. there are tests that can show tramadol use, but because it's a synthetic opiate it does not show up on your typical drug test. if you have a prescription it doesn't matter either way...
Avatar m tn My cat has a hole in his leg, I cleaned it up but was told he might need a antibiotic. My doctor gave me azithromycin 5 daily dose. I was wondering if I can use it on my cat? I can't take him to a vet, so I'm trying to handle this at home.
