Tramadol and metacam together

Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol and metacam together

ultracet

Avatar n tn Hi, I have an almost 14yo pit bull that is on both Metacam and Tramadol. rimadyl is an NSAID, similar to metacam and some others. Tramadol is opiate based but considered safe for dogs. My pit was on rimadyl for a year or so, then we switched to metacam which the vet said was a little stronger, then after about 2 years we added the tramadol. Just last week we upped the tramadol as dogs can develop a tolerance just like humans.
Avatar f tn ve read on holistic info sites that BUPRENORPHINE is the best and SAFEST pain med for cats....I know thats the one my Vet uses too. Is this for long term use?
Avatar f tn s now been given 24 hour dose of vetergesic and 7 days of tramadol to go with the metacam and total rest. Does anyone had any experience like this?
Avatar m tn Our 14 yo pug has arthritis, is incontinent and has just developed a barking, choking cough. He currently takes Metacam and Tramadol daily for the arthritis and for pain. He is still happy to see us, eats his food and tries to follow us around. The cough is horrific though and we are wondering if it is time to end his life humanely. How do I know?
Avatar m tn Olive Leaf; Acidophilus (?); Colordial (?)Silver; Eyebright; Milkthistle; and Rescue Remedy? The Metacam is for severe arthritis in one dog's shoulder plus muscle atrophy. And, it is for two Blown Kneecaps in another dog. I take medications and I know I can't take Natural medications with what I use. So, I was wondering if it is safe for my dogs?
Avatar m tn Actually, tramadol (brand name is ultracet) and rimadyl are safe for dogs. I've had dogs on rimadyl for many years due to arthritis and they never had a problem with it. Tramadol was reserved for post-op pain treatment and only for a few days. Can you give us more information on exactly what kind of pain your chow chow has and any other meds that have been tried?
Avatar n tn I was once given tramadol and cocodamol together in hospital, and take them together regularly now. However, the tramadol must NOT be the type which is combined with paracetamol, as then you would be overdosingon paracetamol. What you don't say is what strengths you are talking about. I take cocodamol 30mg two tablets, which is extremely strong. There are cocodamol mixtures with less codeine phosphate in them. Personally I take the strong version and add in one 50mg Tramadol.
Avatar f tn I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain. My dad keeps telling us to just put her to sleep so she can rest and not be in pain anymore. I want to do everything I can for her before even considering that. Am I wrong?
1388999 tn?1370042814 Hi every one I'm so glad to see this very helpful and crucial forum is still going strong.I have been having some chronic neurological back pain problems for the last few months but after trying a lot of different combinations of pain medications I think we have got it under control at last.
Avatar n tn Taking methadone and Vicodin together or taking methadone and heroin together is not "fine". Not sure where you got that information or why you're asking?
Avatar f tn it is twice a day, i take for depression and hope to help on stop smoking and lossing weight and the Tramadol(not prescribed for me) 50mg taking for pain and hope weight loss. I do not even know if it is safe. buuuuuuuut anywaay. funny you are sunny66, I am mary66.......
1925491 tn?1322888044 He had since gotten better and was back to hiself with the exception of being a bit wobbly and a daily regime of codeine (as prescribed by dr). About 2 weeks ago the doctor suggested we switch him to Metacam which is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory for most likely arthritis. A few days later he became very lethargic, wouldnt get up and when he tried to lift himself on his back legs he would cry in pain. He is no longer able to use the stairs and doesnt like to walk on the hardwood.
Avatar f tn I would certainly NOT give the metacam and return to your Vet so he can look at this and if it is an ulcer than prescribe something that will help with that and NOT an NSAID...all of these are not tolerated good with cats.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry, I know that this is not the news that you wanted to hear, but you NEED to take your dog to the vet. If she was attacked by another dog, chances are very good that she has puncture wounds, and puncture wounds are very quick to become infected. She will need to be examined and she'll need to be given an antibiotic for about a week to combat any infection that might set up in those punctures. Because she is a senior dog, her age is against her in this.
Avatar m tn need to do own research) i stopped all med for 48 hrs and tramadol and prozac permantenly and immediatly began feeling better...i called my dr when i figured out what was wrong and her nurse said she (the doc) doesn't think i had that...i left her and every time i mention this story to docs i encounter they are blown away no-one helped me...
Avatar m tn Our nine and a half year old male miniature dachshund suddenly lost the ability to walk on his back legs today while walking out of his doggy door. He has had seizures off and on almost all of his life, but he would get better shortly after and had never lost the ability to walk all together. We rushed him to the vet's office and the vet confirmed he had a pulled disc, and that he still had feeling in his back legs; he just couldn't walk on them. He was given 0.50 of a Metacam 10ml Inj.
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
Avatar f tn t really know how long ago it may have started) and he has tremendous arthritis of the back hips and 2 discs missing from his neck. I was told we can't put him on any anti-inflammatory drugs because of the Cushings. No rimadyl , etc. I asked how can I help to ease the pain. He is still so full of life ! I put an ice pack on his neck and hips for a few seconds until he walks away from me. I asked about acupuncture. I'll do anything to help my little boy.
Avatar f tn The same thing had happened a year ago around the same time of year , but he was given a metacam shot and was fine the next day and from then onwards. When we went this time, he had a temperature of 40.5 °c and the vet suggested he could have a slipped disc or an intestinal problem. The vet had did if it was a slipped disc the vomiting could have been caused by a sudden pressure, however she also said a slipped disc isn't something that would go away and come back a year later.

Avatar f tn I spoke with the Vet at Novartis who said NEVER give a dog Metacam, steroids and Adequan at the same time. They said to wait 4 - 6 months and re test the liver. Meanwhile, I stopped all those treatments and he's not throw up or acted sick again. He's on a 5 star food and we've worked on getting his weight down 16 lbs in the last 2 years. Other than stiff hips and this new 'not sleeping' routine, he seems like himself.
Avatar f tn Last week I did not take tramadol at all and began to feel achy all over and tired. I took the pill. Yesterday, I took no tramadol again and had all the symptoms I see described here--restless all over, unable to sleep, achy, etc. I took a tramadol this morning and the symptoms went away. My question: what is best here? Stop both of them? Stop the Tramadol and continue the percocet for a week(1 pill a night) and then stop the percocet? Stop both together?
Avatar f tn I read in one of the threads that you can't mix tramadol and antidepressants. Is this true? What are the risks? My Dr. has me on both - I am trying to very slowly cut back on the Tram. I pill every week. I know it is painfully slow - but it is all I am able to do right now. I am working on alternative pain management methods, and getting the courage up to dump the pills once and for all.
Avatar n tn NSAIDS (Rimadyl, Metacam, Previcox, and others), plus Tramadol, and Amantadine, and Chondroprotective agents (Glucosamine and Chondroitin combinations). Acupuncture is also very effective, as is Stem Cell therapy. She should also be checked for Lyme disease and other tick borne disease that affect joints. All her painful joints should be X-Rayed because some joints may require surgical correction or stabilization. .
