Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol XL for 3 years now, started out taking 50 mg per day, now down to 25 mg per day, doing pretty good. I take it for High BP & when I was taken off last year my heart rate would get really high & I have been to the ER several times. I am in the early stages of pregnancy about 6 weeks, & have my DR appt. in 10 days. Has anyone every taken Toprol XL during an entire pregnancy. Any advice would be great...

Avatar n tn I have been on Toprol XL 50 for one year. Recently I have had a problem swallowing and loss of appetite, All tests so far have come back negative, including blood, thyroid, diabetes, endoscopy etc. I have also had some lightheadeness, dizziness, weak feeling, shaking sometimes, feel like I am on a boat at times. I am doing best to eat more and have not lost anymore weight. I am just wondering can side effects appear after a year of none.
Avatar m tn As for BP medication and migraines, in MY situation it took six different meds before I went migraine-free. I got good results with Cozaar after speaking with a pharmacist for his recommendation for migraine patients so I could relay it to my doctor. I lucked out with a very patient doctor,(Cleve Clinic). I also started to experience blind spots with these headaches which I never had previously. All of this subsided with Cozaar.
Avatar f tn I do already take Toprol Xl 25 mg each day for arrhythmia. I have been meditating, trying to exercise, watching my diet and trying not to strain my eyes, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else dealt with specific event acquired persistent ocular migraines like this? What worked? Who did you find to help you? How long did it take to resolve? I am also going to post this in the Heart Rhythm Community since my problem began with the ablation and possibly someone there has some experience.
Avatar f tn Toprol XL, Imdur, 81mg Aspirin, and Nitro when needed. My CCB was changed 2 weeks ago from Procardia to Verapamil to give me some migraine benefits. In the hospital they started me on Tegretol to control the seizures. All doctors assure me it's not my medicines causing this. I'm on a strict low-sodium, no preservatives, no artificial stuff diet, organic diet for migraines and heart health. No caffiene, limited refined sugars (my arrhythmias), and no alcohol.
Avatar n tn Saw neurologist few days later, he said I don't have migraines. Took pain meds for three weeks. BP was still high and my doctor added Benicar 40mg to my drug regimen of Toprol XL and Cardizem CD. Bp was 110/60. Headaches didn't return. Quit Hydrocodone after three weeks of taking it. Had flu-like symptoms for two weeks and BP went up to 140's/80's. After flu Sx disappeared BP back down to 110/60. No more headaches. Doctor said to back off Benicar and discontinue.
3233170 tn?1346453803 and that it was a small stroke. Put me on topamax, b1 and b6 and pulled me off of my toprol xl and fish oil, and magnesium and told me i needed to lose weight.... that was it. I was highly confused. I then has a dizzyness and movement test, eye and ear test, and a lower and upper nerve conduction study and a EEG, all in the same day. I seen him that day.... he seemed annoyed and tells me "You have a pinched nerve in your back" and i said " what do we do about that?
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 42 years old with a long family history of heart disease including my mother. I'm a non-smoker and overweight (but working on it). I was on Inderal LA for 10 years for migraines (with auras). 2 months ago, due to limited migraines, my doctor and I agreed to stop the Inderal to allow me to work on my weight loss. On 10.31.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescibed Tramadol for the headache, Toprol XL for blood pressure and Ambian CR for sleeplessness. Even with his medication, he is still fighting daily headaches. My concern is that he might have a brain lesion that has not been detected. Is this a possibility? Should he have a lumbar puncture to rule out MS? Or should we request a second MRI? We are at our wits end. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
492869 tn?1285022533 Then I took another, and tried to get some sleep. So at 4pm I took 3 Tylenol, 2 Nauzene, 2 Zofran, Toprol XL, and Zomig. I also drank a bottle of water, and a glass of coke for the caffeine. I put my oxygen on around 4:30. I had some pain relief between 5:30, and 6:30. At 5 I took my normal medication. Theo-24, and Ritalin. At 7 I took took another Zomig. At 8 I took 3 more Tylenol, 2 Nauzene, and another bottle of water. My first seizure was somewhere around 8:30.
Avatar f tn Awwwww, that was very nice of you to think of us. My daughter's neurologist had her repeat the brain MRI at their facility (Miami Children's). We just went back to get the results yesterday and they were NORMAL!!! Thank God. Her first MRI was on a T-3 and this new one was a T-2, go figure. Her migraines have calmed down and she hasn't been as stressed lately.
Avatar n tn I have eye pain in the left eye alot, and am going to Dr soon for this. Just wodered what you may think it could be, have had history of migraines (but more in the past) and highbloodpressure on Toprol XL 100mg a day. Having routine fasting blood sugars, & check up soon..But this is an annoyance and wondered if anyone could tell me what they think it may be? Thank you for your time!
Avatar n tn I am on Toprol XL for 12 years, 50mg. / day for HTN and rapid heartbeat. I am prone to migraines but never experience these symptoms near when I have migraine. My migraines are triggered by changes in barometric pressure and hormonal. I have been to a nuerologist for my migraines, and take Excedrin migraine formula. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn My neuro said that given my symptoms, it is unlikely that it is hemiplegic migraines, but could be a possibility. She took me off Toprol XL and prescribed Inderal LA as this will respond to more receptors in the body other than just the heart. Hopefully this will help not only with my Tachy but will prevent "episodes" if this is in fact hemiplegic migraines. She also said that if they are HM's and I don't have the pain associated with a migraine when these episodes happen...

Avatar n tn Also have had abnormal brain MRI's which never was truly determined what I have either small blood vessel disease or MS or nothing - have white spots on the MRI that get a little worse everytime I get one done except last time was a little less -went to many neurologists - vary on opinion and are not certain - may have nothing to do with eyes. I am on High BP meds (Toprol XL -75 mg.a day) - started in my 30's (25 mg.
Avatar f tn Hi there again, I posted about the switch to generic Metoprolol from brand Toprol back in March. Just a thought, I wonder if when they switched you back to the Brand Toprol...did they put you back on Toprol "XL". It's long acting. The generic "metoprolol" Succinate ER did not stay in my system like the Toprol XL, something about the binding properties that didn't let it last the full 24 hours. Taking the generic was like taking nothing at all for me.
Avatar n tn So far Toprol XL has been good. I would say the first 3 weeks or so of taking this med were awful but I could still tolerate it. SOB & tiredness were the side-effects. I'm feeling fine now. I'm worried what will happen if I'm weaned off my med.
Avatar m tn I was admitted into the hospital early this week for ongoing stomach issues which may or may not be related to ongoing stress, anxiety, etc. I am taking 100 MG of toporol xl, benazapril 10mg, 81mg aspiring, synthroid, and protonix.
Avatar f tn I have been on diuretics, Diamoxx and potassium in the past due to pseudotumor cerebri, but was able to come off meds in the last year due to the insertion of a VP shunt. I was put on Toprol XL 50 mg due to palpitations. When we tried to wean me off the med my HR skyrocketed. I was doing fine with increasing salt and fluid, but recently developed episodes of what feels like flip flopping in my chest. My doctor did a holter to double check things.
343006 tn?1314450071 very little on Allergic reactions. as I have taken this drug before, and was switched off a nasty beta blocker Toprol xl -and put on verapamil - about 3months ago.. iv been ok- but got a few side effects, but nothing bad.. so far.. up untill today, when I got a slight burning feeling in my left arm - upper area only. had this before.. when on this drug, so it didnt shock me ! it was like here we go again !!!
Avatar n tn I still have palpations but the life threating SVT is hopefull gone forever. I am on 25 mg per day of toprol for a high resting heart rate. The problem that I have been having for many years - more now than ever is that my heart rate speeds up to 100 120 and I get so exausted with everything I do- ex. Walking up stairs, rising from a sitting position, pushing a shopping cart, walking etc.) I have been back and forth to the doctor.
Avatar n tn My doctor just prescribed me Toprol for PVCs. I have low blood pressure, so I'm worried that taking a beta blocker will make it even lower. Typically, my BP is about 94/56. Have you been on a beta blocker for long? Do you notice a decrease in your BP? Do you experience side effects with beta blockers? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My neurologist also prescribed Amitriptyline 25 mg to prevent migraines, Provigil 200 mg for fatigue, and Zrytec 10mg for a site reaction, I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope in late '06 (on the table 16 min before passing out) and take Toprol XL 25 mg and Florinef .01 mg. I have taken Synthroid since age 16; now at 75 mg. I take Tricor 145 mg and Simvastatin 20 mg for uncontrolled cholesterol.
