Common Questions and Answers about Toprol xl ingredients

toprol

Avatar f tn I still don't feel 100% and have been back on the brand TOPROL XL for 9 days now. Keep in mind I didn't know what was happening to me, I never thought twice about the switch to generic, it was cheaper and I also had a lot of stress going on in my life at the time. My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007.
Avatar f tn I also have Grave's Disease. I had RAI May 2010 to kill my thyroid. I am on 125mcg of synthroid daily and 50mg of toprol XL daily. I get these awful adrenaline surges and I dont know if they are panic/anxiety attacks or what. Im really not a pill taking kind of person, I dont even take a tylenol for a headache. My question is this, can you drink sleepytime tea or the sleepytime ension tamer tea while on toprol..
Avatar n tn My pharmacist did the same thing without asking my doc first. I did have issues because the Toprol XL is an extended release of the drug metoprolol, which means there is a very steady release of the drug over a period of time so you only have to take it once per day, but the metoprol is more of an immediate effect that does not last as long in your system. They did not increase my dose to twice a day so I was only taking it once a day because I was not told of the difference.
Avatar n tn He then did an EKG which was fine. Since I've done very well on TOPROL XL he did not want to change the RX, but said we could do either A: Increase the Toprol to 50mg. and drop the verapamil (80mgs) which he said is probably causing the interaction or, B: change the calcium supplement to something else (calcium carbonate he mentioned). I told him I would think about it. After communicating with my internist, he concedes to whatever the cardio and I decide.
612551 tn?1450025775 I have taken several medications over the years that have various claims that is supposed to mean, I believe, that the medication will be effective over an extended period of time, up to 24 hours. I am taking Metoprolol with an "ER" designation, which I think means Extended Release, I have taken Toprol and Rythmol with a "SR" designation, slow release Any comment on my understanding/belief? I also wonder if the term "release" is a misnomer.
685562 tn?1447158831 I had issues and became quite ill when I switched from Toprol XL to a generic. All issues resolved after discontinuing the generic. FDA did find some substandard practices with the company manufacturing the generic. This is what I found after some research: FDA regulations require generics to have the same active ingredients, be bioequivalent, and have a high purity. Inactive ingredients do not have to be the same and the generic can never look like the brand name.
183202 tn?1219857259 I was given the generic by Ethex, yet both the generics by Ethex and Sandoz have been proven to NOT contain the same ingredients (inactive) as Toprol, nor are they the same size or disposition. It caused me to have onset chest pains again, and lightheadedness and tingling sensations in my chest, arms, head and body.

Avatar n tn Being a nurse has not helped either as you sometimes know too much but not really enough! I have seen my family doctor who prescribed Toprol XL for my high BP and tachycardia (mostly related to stress i think - i seem to have a severe case of white coat syndrome). All blood tests CBC, thyroid, B12 etc have come back as normal. I saw him after a week on toprol and my s/s seemed to have abated enough for me to tell him I was doing better.
Avatar n tn or tachy episode spoils my day. I am currently taking 50mg of toprol xl and it does help with the tachy, but my goal is to get off it. I don't really have a lot of side effects, but I would rather not take it. I have an appointment at an anxiety disorders center at a teaching hospital near my home on Feb. 12th to address my anxiety issues. I know that anxiety plays a part, but I don't believe it's the cause entirely. Hopefully, I'll get some answers.
Avatar n tn I felt that I was OK and that I could lift, run, do everythig I want and not worry that my heart would stop! He did Rx Toprol XL that I've been taking now for 15 years, they surely dont get rid of the PVCs however they do dull them so I don't feel them as much. I've had them for 25 years. At times of stress they can come out quite a bit. Anxiety seems to precipitate them. Caffeine, thank god, does nohting! Positional does cause them.
Avatar n tn Because of strong family history and my arrythmia, I had a heart cath to rule out Coronary Heart Disease. My doctor had me take Toprol xl 50 mg a day and that eventually was increased to 100mg twice a day. It did not help. While in the hospital after my heart cath, the electrophysiologist came by. He discontinued my toprol and put me on Verapamil, a calcium channel blocker. After two weeks this did not help. I am scheduled for an ablation on the 25th.
Avatar n tn I am 31 years old now, take toprol xl, and xanax. I gave up on wasting my short life on trying to get rid of something that isnt going to go away, and isnt going to kill me. So I live life to the fullest, before its over, and before I realize all Ive done was waste the whole thing worrying about pvcs. If youve had all the tests (ekg, echo, ect.......
Avatar n tn Actually this incident caused anxiety! The next week I was put on 50mg of Toprolol XL (I'm still taking this and it helps a lot). Since the first episode over a year ago, I have noticed that every time I eat a high protein meal like chicken, whole milk, eggs, peanut butter, etc, my bp would go high.
Avatar f tn It's a relatively new brand of levo that was just put on the market in 2009. It's a gelcap and its only ingredients, besides the levo, are water, glycerin, so there's no fillers/binders to react to, making it virtually hypoallergenic. Tirosint is also absorbed much better than pill type medications, so you probably want to start on the lowest possible dose (13.5 mcg); since it's a gel cap, it can't be split like a pill. You might also ask your doctor to look into adrenal issues.
221122 tn?1323014865 At the reception they started back up and have been going strong for the last 10 days. I began toprol xl - 25 mg. about a week ago. A couple of days in and I was starting to drag - a few more days and I was sick to my stomach all day long. The heart beats became more normal but I was either 1/2 asleep or on the verge of throwing up all day long. Not a great condition to be in when trying to run a 7 person household.
Avatar n tn Decent shape but alittle heavier than I'ld like. Toprol XL for keeping my heart regular. I am not taking vitamins, so I don't believe medications are causing this. My best guess would be nerve issues. With the stress we all deal with, I really think we need to start stretching more. Our lifestyle, I believe is our problem, and lack of exercise. Although, exercise alone without stretching can be hazardous if you are tight.
