I have only been on Topamax for my migraines since November 2010 and by January I had four kidney stones. One in my left kidney and three in my right. Now I have been taken off Topamax and it was so far the best medication for my migraines I was on 100mg of Topamax and went from having a migraine everyday to once a month. I miss Topamax but the pain of my kidney stones was much worse.
One of my daughters has headaches and we have tried topamax and propranol and she has to many side effects fromthem. Has anyone else had this problem.
Oh you poor thing! I do know how this feels. My husband died in January of 1999, and my dog only months later. It was very very hard indeed.
Kidney Failure in such a young dog could have been caused by ingestion of some kind of toxin?..... acute illness or infection of some kind?....could be an inherited weakness?

Is she gating sny meds for nausea? Have you tried the chicken (no skin) and rice with maybe some carrot or zucchini added? Have you tried one of the dry or canned diets for kudney probkems? You might try some canned green tripe. Some pet stores sell that now.
Samantha is a nearly 18 years old bichon fries and was diagnosed with kidney failure on Oct 2. She has good days and bad days. Sam has been on daily IV fluids since Oct. She takes zantac, vitamins, cranberry, denamarin and anti phosphorous medicine twice daily. She has lost considerable weight and lately has become disinterested in food. Hi, I'm a 14 year old female that is currently freaking out. I was an idiot, and checked online for the symptoms of kidney failure because I had back pain around where the kidneys are... Symptoms included, pain around the kidneys, swollen ankles of pain in the ankles, you get tired after walking up a flight of stairs..lol all of which I experience, also, when I urinate, I don't feel like all of the urine has come out of me....
Its cute, looks like he is winding up getting ready for take off! I think that dealing with this kidney failure stuff is just so overwhelming. Your mind is spinning all the time, worrying constantly. Like I said, I know it didn't come on over night, but once it got bad, the symptoms came on hard and fast. I was getting up everyday scared at what the deal would hold. Checking on my dear dog wondering how much worse he was. Waking up everyday and seeing him deteriorate.
Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist.

My 6 year 10 month Russian Blue male cat was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with kidney failure. His only symptons were a bout of vomiting and lethargy. His blood work was quite elevated, BUN 83mg/dl, CREA 5.1mg/dl, PHOS 8.8mg/dl. He has been given fluids twice and we have been giving him Azodyl capsules twice a day. Also sprinkling Epikatin on his food twice a day. We have been trying to transition him to renal diet with not a lot of success.
Also as he has heart failure and the point of his meds is to get rid of fluid but if he has kidney failure he needs lots of fluid ie the vets flushing his kidneys, can this be done on him with his heart problem?
I have read a few things about kidney failure saying give low protein but others say give high quality protein so whats best please?
Also have read give low phosphorus and give TUMS to him but is this ok? how do i know how much to give a tiny yorkie?

My 8 year old Golden Retriever was just told Kidney Failure. levers are super high. over 117 BUN Crea 7.2 he was in the hospital for two days on IV fluids. When we picked him up he was in worse shape then when we dropped him off. I don't understand I decided I was not going to give up him. He needs to eat will not touch the KD diet. been giving him boiled chicken and hotdogs. Any help on low protein foods appreiciated.
