hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???
Hi.....I have both migraines and depression. My neuro doc put me on Topamax (I take it daily) for migraine management and when I do get "breakthrough" migraines I take Maxalt. The Topamax has worked wonders!!! But it isn't without some nasty side effects. Initially it causes your feet, hands and face to tingle (that goes away)....but it plays hell with your memory (not everyone gets this, but I did). It takes away your appetite (at least it did for me).
I am 47 and have suffered from migraines and headaches for about 6 years. The only thing that helped was Topamax. I used it about 6 years ago for about 2-3 months. Unfortunately, it made me extremely nauseous and my hair started to fall out. I am so desperate for relief that I asked my doctor to try it again, but at a lower dosage. The first day I took 25 mg and felt Like I had "morning sickness" all day. I am supposed to gradually increase to 200 mg by the end of the month.
i was diagnosed with migraines and they prescribed topamax for preventative medication and i was wondering approx how long this would take to see an affect? i seem to have mostly visual problems and some pain with my migraines.. my perception definately feels off and my eye gets really low on the right side of my head.. i was wondering .. does it make a difference in a dignoses with it being on one side of my head mostly?? and i seem to be so depressed ever since these symptoms started...
You need to be revaluated not for the cyst but if the cyst has undergone any change / increase in the size or hemorrhage in the recent past to cause these continuous headaches, any tumors stretching the pain sensitive dura, impending rupture or ruptured aneurysm, change of medicines for migraine, trial of otherpreventive medicines lie topamax, other drugs used to abort a migraine attack in triptans and ergots group. Rule out tension headaches by stress relieving measures and behavioral therapy.
They worked inredibly well for my migraines and I am grateful for the medication. In the last couple of months I started to notice some hair loss. At first it was not that bad, the pros of the medication outweighed the cons, but now my hair has started to fall out in chunks. I used to have very long thick curly hair. When I brush my hair it comes out in huge chunks...It used to take me an hour 1/2 to straighten my hair. Now my hair only takes 25-30 min to straighten.
It sure helps to know when you are not alone and others have the same side effects. Topamax helps my migraines and the weight loss is a plus too but the memory is suffering when it comes to writing and speech...like spelling...sometimes I know the word to use but can not even think of the letters to look it up so I end up using a different word in it's place...very frustrating. Speaking is another story. Sometimes it just isn't worth it to talk at all.
Pain was constant throbbing and sometimes stabbing. Light and noise sensitive. On topamax and neurontin. Been in the hospital twice in two weeks. We are currently hospitalized since Monday. Nerve blocks to occipital bones, frontal and temporal region. Some relief, but still pain in temples. Nausea persists. I've asked that they stop the toradol intravenously because I feel with all the steroids and NSAIDS this could be tearing her stomach up.
Hello, i'm a 16 year old boy and i was prescribed topamax 25mg for migraines over a year ago. A few months ago i was also prescribed wellbutrin 300mg and prozac 10mg for depression and anxiety. When I first started taking the topamax i hardly sweated. I did start sweating a fair amount before taking the wellbutrin and prozac but the sweating has just increased since then and i've been getting large stains on my armpits just from sitting in class.
s for migraines as needed and 1 Rx for anxiety as needed. And I take the as needed meds several times a week. A lot of times every day.
The hard cold fact is....treating migraines is a marathon, not a sprint. You are not going to find some magic pill that you take and never have a migraine again. It is a process. My meds are constantly changing. They either change the dosage or completely stop one......or start a new one.
I have been on 25mg of topamax for a few weeks for migraines. I decided to stop taking it. Migraines are worse and I can't sleep.how long after I stop taking to topamax until I can take Tylenol PM? My last dose was last night. Thanks!!
I am on day 14 of the Topamax and it is seems to be helping. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have increased energy and have only had to take ibuprofen for headaches. I will keep you posted.
I am bipolar, have chronic migraines, and doing IVF. I use lithium and lamictal for my mood stabilizers and will stay on them through my pregnancy. The tentative plan is to add topamax after baby for the migraines and an added mood stabilizer boost. I am loving the possible side effect of weight loss as I am overweight, but I would be devastated if I lose my hair. I may have a migraine everday but they're not so bad I would hand over my hair for relief.
is topamax used to treat a back injury? everything that I reads say migraines, seizures, well I don't have seizures or migraines. I have a bad knee and I have a bad back. I started Topamax and it makes me feel so bad. The pain is worse than before? is this normal? my feet hand and vision are all affectative. Numbness in feet and hands, just plain can't see. blured vision. lousy feeling

m currently on my second attempt of topamax for about a year now (18-19 years old), was on Topamax previously before but had serious side effects which my doctor said would go away after long term use but i refused to take it and just took otc migraine med, now on my second attempt and my side effects are much more less, no weight loss though more like weight gain, i do still have speech stuttering, and forgetfulness which makes it hard to remember to take my topamax and still have migraines, i
I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.
Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....
