Tobradex and side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex and side effects

tobradex

Avatar n tn My opth has diagnosed me with blepharitis, I use sterilid w/ compresses and take flaxseed oil, and I also use preservative free eyedrops for moisture. However nothing has worked to my satisfaction besides tobradex which I've used for about a year and half- my eyelid inflammation is pretty severe even with the other treatments, however w/ tobradex my symptoms are almost nonexistent.
Avatar n tn We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar f tn ve felt sinus pressure for the last month every now and then and especially these last few days after stopping the Tobradex. The pressure seems worse now and is stretching across my entire forehead and no longer just around my eye. - Prior to seeing the optican, I saw my primary physician twice. The first time, a scratch was found on the same eye and I was given Ciprofloxacin for a week. The scratch healed and the watery eye came back.
Avatar n tn He put me on flax seed oil, allegra, restasis, sterilid and qtips, moisturizing eyedrops and tobradex. At one point he did tell me to slow down on the tobradex but I couldn't handle having such bloodshot eyes so he's allowed me to continue usage for the past year and a half while monitoring my IOP levels. I decided to try to wean myself off of tobradex again, but despite my bloodshot eyes he said that he didn't think I was experiencing rebound symptoms from the steroids.
Avatar m tn My doctor RX Tobradex and it went away. The next month, both my upper lids had the same reaction. My lash tech. has tried sensitive glue, medical grade tape, gel pads.....no gel pads etc. However, after many attempts to identify the problem, I have the same reaction, no matter what products are used. The only way I am able to control it....is to start Tobradex the day of the procedure and use it.....2 drops a day for 2 days after the procedure.
Avatar m tn I did feel some of the side effects mentioned in its pamphlet, like eye ache and itchiness, and a bit of stinging that didn’t last long but the aching was becoming more consistent. Sunday 5/13 and today 5/14 my right eye feels more sore, or achy since Friday when I started taking the eye drops. I’m suppose to take 3 more doses (1 more tonight, 2 tomorrow) according to my instructions. My right eye feels very uncomfortable and the aching is more consistent than Friday too.
Avatar m tn By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse. Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care.
Avatar m tn The steroid in Tobradex may help short term, but this is not a long-term solution. Oracea is a slow release form of Doxy type drug and has less side effects. However, many insurances will not cover it. Topical Azasite if very effective. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn I've been to two optometrists for eye pain and eyelid swelling. I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?
Avatar m tn ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, monofloxacin, fusicid acid, chlortetracycline... Also anti-inflamatory drugs like Tobradex and FML which help reduce inflamation but not treat the cause. What worries me now is that inflamation has reached near the cornea, as an incomplete bluish ring. May this threaten the cornea? My vision is not normal and i have had watery eye for about half a year now. What treatment do you think will be best for this condition? Ciclosporine after a steroid, another antibiotic?
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar n tn First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important. Second Alrex drops have been show to have minimal side effects for long term use, likely less than Lotemax.
Avatar f tn Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days.
Avatar m tn Right now im taking TOBRAdex, and Hialid, way back dec2011, i had a sore eyes, then i used a MAxritol without consulting a doctor, then my eyes got irritated, then i went to CEBU Dr,Larrazabal, then he gave me hialid & frulon,, then after 5mnths it was okey.. on the last week of August 2012,i felt sometimes a blurred vision, then, i consult again to Dra. Avatar f tn I have been noticeing small clear bubbles forming on the inside of my lowere eyelid . I have several of them , i had some tobradex drops and used them but nothing is makeing them go away , has anyone had this problem ???
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar n tn i took care of an elderly male patient on admission his main complain was his legs and his left eye had minimal whitish discharge and by the 3rd day his eyeball was reddish and he seemed like he was crying beacause he usually had tears on his eye corners he was seen by an opthalmologist and was treated tobramycin eye drops and cyclogel however after a week when i saw him again his eyes was slowly melting, he had corneal abrasion and vitreous hemorrhage, and after 3 days his eyes was totally
Avatar m tn It is not improving and he rubs it all of the time. I am a physician and was wondering if I should prescribe a steroid like tobradex or maxitrol for it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar m tn About 1 month ago I used tobradex drops for 10 days. Since then, my eyes have been tearing a lot and it always seems like I am 'crying'. I saw a opthamologist recently who said I have dry eye syndrome and suggested systane ultra. How can I have dry eye syndrome when my eyes are tearing so much? Could the tobradex have reduced inflammation on my tear ducts, thereby causing increase in tearing? Also my eyes are red all the time and looks like I have been smoking pot or something.
Avatar n tn i had a cataract surgery month ago, but still it doesnt look like its healing well., i noticed a redness of my eye,. it looks to me that its like bleeding from the stitch...my surgeon gave me tobradex., well it does work....it's does stop the bleeding/redness, but when i stop using it. it comes back again!!!....i really dont know whats happening, plese help!!.......
Avatar f tn Your doctor would not have started you on tobradex (a steroid and antibiotic) and Timolol, a glaucoma drug. There must have been something else wrong such as inflammation or infection---the Tobradex would in most cases cover both problems. However, the steroid can also elevate your eye pressure. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn Team ... 2 days ago I woke up and found my RT eye was red ... no pain. Around 5pm, of the same day, I noticed that my eye was blurry, especially for reading (I have glasses for distance but can normally read close up). I went to my Optometrist the next morning and he found 3 lesions in my RT eye ... LT eye was ok (for now). He prescribed Tobradex 1 drop 4 times per day but seemed very concerned ..... Help .... what is going on in my system ... why the lesions and the blurry vision ??
Avatar n tn This happened last year to my eye as well, took about 6 months and several meds, but finally cleared up after being on Tobradex for about 1 1/2 weeks. Unfortunately, my eye pressure went to 30 with Tobradex and my eye MD will not put me back on this med....I am assuming that if iritis was the problem, that would have been a pretty easy find for the ophthalmologist, he has not suggested this as a diagnosis. I am sort of grasping at straws here...
