Tiotropium dosing in icu

Common Questions and Answers about Tiotropium dosing in icu

spiriva

Avatar m tn I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Go to the doctor or ER. The only symptoms I had for a massive PE was SOB. I have, in the last two weeks been diagnosed with more DVT's and PE's in both lungs. Request a d-dimer test. It is the way they started to look for mine. Be persistant!! I know that it is hard to manage the finances of illness, but the alternative is not very appealing. When I was first diagnosed with DVT's and PE's in January of this year I had let it go for 10 days. I am lucky to still be here.
1903798 tn?1333905288 Hey friends I came through surgery well.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar f tn m turning 40 soon and my heart tried going out 12 hours after I delivered my 3rd baby via c-section 5 months ago. Lungs filled with fluid, spent a week in ICU, the whole shebang. HF was about 30-35%(?) I believe. After a few months wearing a Zoll life vest I had a defibrillator implanted and so far have not had any major issues.
Avatar f tn Many times this will depend on ur dr and u...how u do.....I was in ICU for 2 and a 1/2 days and then in the reg room for 3days..... May I ask who is doing ur surgery?.... I am glad to welcome u to our little family here, sorry the reason u had to seek us out.
570405 tn?1216957944 Have you asked about any clinical trials or medicines that have not been FDA approved yet for your wife's condition? When my Mom was in the ICU and given no chance we researched these and the DR helped us get a new medicines that helped her. She came out of the ICU because of the new medicine! If you would like more info Please contact me. I am so sorry you and your wife are going through this, I have been there and I know how difficult it is!
Avatar f tn I know before 34 weeks something like that they keep babys in icu .im 32 weeks 2days due in jan 6th but I have a feeling this baby will come in another few weeks I'm uncomforable, I'm dilated and have back pains unless I'm up doing stuff.
Avatar f tn Since he came out of surgery he has been put in induced coma and on a ventilator his oxygen level is low and his lung is operating at a 23% capacity.. doctors think that he might developed infection and are giving him antibiotics for the past 3 days. My question is will his lung be able to improve and start working at a higher capacity?
Avatar f tn I have just started takeing care of my mother in law who is in stage 4 breast cancer and her dr gave her Morphine SO4 IR 15mg one tablet every 3 hours and Morphine SO4 ER 30ENDO one tablet every 12 hours and I am confused on how to give them to her, she says I can give them to her at the same time and I am worried about it causing an overdose and I am having a hard time reaching her dr for instruction on how to give it to her, do i give her one first and then wait a few hours to give the other
Avatar f tn Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) has a maximum duration of action of about 36 hours. To be safe, you would want to be off the medicine for 48 to 72 hours before the spirometry. It would have been preferable, but not mandatory to do the pulmonary function tests (PFTs) at the time the diagnosis of chronic lung disease was made especially if the diagnosis was unequivocal. The other important question would be, “Why 3 CT scans, presumably of your lungs, in 16 months?
Avatar m tn Cause of low DLCO and drop in it from test 1 to test 1? I am currently on tiotropium bromide and salmeterol/fluticasone propionate. My reason for posting this is one doc is pessimistic and the other highly optimistic. Thank you.
Avatar f tn At my six-monthly checkup at my local hospital here in Spain there was a replacement doctor and since he was young I thought he might be willing to hear why I was not taking spiriva and steroids. He confirmed that a person with severe COPD MUST use these medicines. But - I objected - they do not cure, they’re only supposed to make you feel a little better and have nasty adverse effects.
1501377 tn?1291508678 I have stage 4 fibrosis (cirrhosis) and about two weeks after being in a coma / ICU from other surgical complications I got a first event of ascites. I was put on Aldectone 50mg. A week ago (three weeks following my first episode) my belly became distended, weight and girth increased. Three mornings ago my entire abdomen was taut, I was short of breath and my "belly button" painfully poking out. Next day at ER they took lung x-rays to exclude fluid - but no ultrasound scan.
Avatar n tn My father is admitted in ICU( in the hospital ) for the last 20days as he was diagnose pneumonia. He is diabetic and has BP also.since 2days doctors are removing water from lungs(putting syringe from side of the waist). But the water is again getting filled (but slowly)what is the the treatment and how long is the hospitalization is required?

Avatar f tn I am **pretty sure the dosing is the same for your four week Interferon/Ribavirin lead in. Hopefully others will chime in or post a link that specifies this just to be on the safe side.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with secondary autoimmune adrenal insufficiency in December. I feel lousy most of the time, have chronic abdominal pain and abnormal stools, and feel best flat on my back...which doesn't work well for someone who works 12 hour shifts in a busy ER while selling one house, building another, and has 2 teens and a disabled husband, lol. Here's my question. If a person has say diabetes, their meds are based on their blood sugars.
Avatar f tn Apparently 200 mcg of Synthroid is a large dose, have you heard of higher doses this early in the game? I am starting to make some improvements, like I was able to go to the gym, but had puny work outs and can fall asleep at 8pm, and I sleep horribly. I see the doctor on the 22nd of this month after more bloodwork. Glad to see I am not alone.
Avatar n tn My husband had been on a 200mcg dose of Synthroid for 6 months. Blood work in Aug 2008 was normal. Three months later his TSH was 10 and the doctor increased his dose to 300mcg. I questioned increasing it this much and am worried about this dose. He's been on it for about a week. Should I see another doctor?
Avatar n tn I have only been taking it for two weeks so far, but I absolutely hate the perspiring. I wake up several times in the night completely soaking, and I feel so tired, and my eyesight has also gone a bit blurry. Not good ,generally.
2202729 tn?1377551205 Interferon weekend, good one.
Avatar m tn I have found that sometimes I get both symptoms with hyper and hypo and in the early stages was confused as i could swear I was Hyper when in actual fact bloods showed Hypo. Anxiety is one of the symptoms I get both ends of the scale. The only difference now is ....when Hyper I get mouth ulcers and sore throat. I have no thyroid function as was hypo 5 weeks after RAI in June this year.
