I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Spiriva contains tiotropium bromide which is an anticholinergic bronchodilator. So, yes, both have action against acetylcholine recptors and both are efefctive bronchodilators. You can take any one of them.
Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist. So, it gives bronchodialation for a much longer time. It is a more recent drug so long term efficacy data are not available. However, available data does show a marked benefit in individuals with COPD.
If from the lungs, you could be experiencing Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) withdrawal symptoms, depending on what type of lung problem was being treated with the Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder). These 2 medications are in the class of amphetamines and serotonin modulators which can result in serotonin syndrome.

in 1998 had a bypass that did not work they put a defribilator in 2000 which has worked well up to august this year i was rushed in with a heartbeat of 161 they put me on amiodrone straight in the arm for three days my defib went off twice but did not bring me back into rythem they rushed me to Barts in London where they took the drip of amioderone straight out of my arm because it caused flebitis and put me on oral amioderone took me off warfarin and gave me enoxaparin injection till the warfar
First, your friendly nurse should have recommended he see a psychiatrist to discuss any medication changes. These two drugs won't have adverse interactions, benzos are not only often but usually used with antidepressants. However, the dose will depend on the individual, and so will the drug. Prozac is one of the easier drugs to stop taking -- the one he's taking and the way he's taking it will make it possibly very hard to stop taking.
