Avatar f tn Everyone is different, I did not do well on Levo,my levels did not move much in 6 months, then when I went to Synthroid I did better, but some do well on Levo also, its just trial and error, Has or does your MD tested for Free T3 and Free T4? or is he/she a "TSH" nut?
Avatar n tn I have low thyroid and I am taking Armour 30MG,can I take Alli for weight loss while taking Armour?
Avatar n tn has upped her Thyroid meds to what we think may be getting close to the sweet spot she is doing weight watchers again. She is down about 6 lbs so far. We'll see if this time having the proper thyroid levels if she will be able to continue to lose weight to her goal. I think others here have reported the inability to lose weight despite aggressive calorie counting and exercise routines. But had more success when the thyroid levels were near the sweet spot.
Avatar n tn I also had my thyroid removed and am having trouble losing weight. My dr. has me on 125mcg of synthroid and also 112. I alternate every other day. All of my bloodwork comes back good and my cancer markers are good but I cannot seem to lose more than 2-4 pounds. I have tried weight watchers where I had success before my cancer but now nothing works. I also would appreciate any advice. My job is very stressful and I know that doesn't help but I don't have control over that.
Avatar f tn I do consider my thyroid treatment a success, although my recovery is not dramatic at all. It's taken me a couple of years, and a doctor, who like Stella, I thought was going to kill me; but THANKS to Stella -- I was able to put a stop to it and get the tests I really needed. I'm currently doing much better with the thyroid issue, but getting one thing under control brought up other issues.............symptoms that *I* thought were thyroid related, I'm now finding are NOT.
Avatar m tn I am extremly underweight and have been trying to gain weight my whole life. I do have times of success but whenever i get close to where i want to be my body starts to reject what i eat.It is random but sometimes a eat, say cereal, i will immediatly throw it back up after i ate it. 5817529 tn?1374797908 Hi,,,,I had weight increase as well and no, no success yet...but I wondered if u like myself might have another underlying heath issue that is more to blame at this point..... Motility, or absorption....how our body breaks down and uses the foods we eat will affect weight... I know I have an absorption issue and I need to take supplements as my body does not absorb them, and it is part of my issue,.
Avatar f tn I started taking 37.5mg of effexor tablet (not the XR) 2x a day. Since then I have slowly gained about 15 lbs. I work out regularly, eat a mostly healthy diet, get plenty of sleep. I have tried being more strick with both diet and exercise with no success in loosing any weight. It seems like I'm holding at a steady weight for the last month/month and a half. But I really want to get the extra weight off.
Avatar f tn I have been on Methimazole for almost two years and am slowly weaning off it- down to 30mg per week (I started at 20-30 mg per day) I resisted RAI since I have Thyroid Eye disease, but my symptoms made me so anxious to get better I wanted surgery desperately for the first six months. Now that I have been euthyroid for three months and counting I am hoping to wean off the meds even more. It's a long road, but when you have thyroid issues- you are in for quite a trip anyway.

Avatar m tn I have been dealing with hypothyroidism for over two years after removal of my right thyroid. I had a follicular adenoma removed along with the right thyroid. I have been on various combinations of T4 only and T3 plus T4 medications without success in relieving my symptoms. Can T3 (specificaly Cytomel) be taken alone to treat Hypothyroidism? Is this better for some patients in terms of relieving fatigue and other symptoms?
Avatar f tn Hello all, For the last 2 weeks I have been reading blogs here everyday regarding issues all thyroid related. In December I had an US for a 4cm nodule on the right side of my thyroid. The FNA results showed definitive diagnosis hyperplastic nodule and Follicular neoplasm. This means it could either be the former or the latter. Anyway, the Endo gave me a choice between removing half or all of the gland.
Avatar n tn It's been over a year since I have had my thyroid removed. My weight during that time have increased to 60lbs above my normal level of 180lbs. The dosage of medication prescribed is .75mg og thyroxine. What can I do to reduce my weight?

I have not been on meds long enough to tell any difference in energy or hunger, but I am hopeing there will be some difference in the future.

219363 tn?1189755821 Should not be a problem from a thyroid standpoint. The key to weight loss is long-term efforts -- would only do this kind of diet if you can eat this way long-term. It seems leaner than Atkins, but usually will be very difficult to maintain a diet that avoids starches entirely.
Avatar f tn Hi I have Hep C, stage 4 liver damage, chirossis, spenomegaly. No acsites, varices or pain. I was diagnosed in 2001 with hep c geno 1a. I started researching alternative therapies which kept my liver functioning and maintained for the past 15 years taking herbs and supplements. Last year was the first time I was treated with Triple Therapy - Interferon, Riba and Sovaldi ~ failed it ~ made me sick as a dog! Now I'm on the 6 month Harvoni only.
