Avatar n tn Boy Oh Boy...I just want to say that I was thinking of you. I can't be much help on your questions.. I imagine anything that stresses your body out could cause a relapse, including an overdose of your thyroid hormone, but this would be a simple guess on my part. It's a wonder your heart was not strained. By the sounds of it, the medication took you from Hypo to Hyper, instead of the level you should have been. Thank God your ok.
Avatar n tn What are your current thyroid hormone levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. You should be getting tested periodically for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have other symptoms of over medication, such as weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, etc. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar f tn If you have had RAI that many times and you are on no medication and your bloods are good , then the RAI you did have has basically got your thyroid into controlling the right amount of thyroid medication and your thyroid still has function. The RAI has basically put a 'brake' on your hyperthyroidism. This doesnt mean to say that the thyroid wont fire up again (which I hope it doesnt) but the same happened to my sister who has Graves.
Avatar n tn So it has nothing to do with my Thyroid? (it does work perfectly as mentioned) Could it be a throat infection / virus?
Avatar n tn It certainly sounds like hyper symptoms to me, but you should be monitored closely and tested with any dosage change. Call your doc and describe your symptoms and ask why you haven't been tested to check the effectiveness of your new dosage change. You should have been tested at 6 weeks!
10878355 tn?1425579171 I am 19 years old and last week on Friday I was rushed to the Emergency Room for symptoms I was experiencing from an overdose on espresso. When I arrived I was told I was experiencing "tachycardia". My heart rate was beating over 100. I was at bed-rest and given a pill. However I am still experiencing tachycardia symptoms (not currently at hospital). I was also told that I was underweight and that caffeine overdose will impact me harder than others.
Avatar m tn Anything is possible, but I think it would be accompanied by these symptoms # Hoarseness or difficulty swallowing -Hoarseness - Trouble breathing - Swollen lymph nodes, especially in your neck - Pain in your throat or neck, sometimes spreading up to your ears The fever, night sweats and lump could also be a sign of something not so serious like an infection or something more serious like cancer I would think that your symptoms could point toward lymphoma or thyroid cancer.
291885 tn?1404893207 It was actually the EBV that was causing all my hypothyroid symptoms to flare up. So, in the mean time I began dropping my thyroid meds back to my original dosage but over the course of being on that high dose I got many adverse symptoms such as high BP, high resting heart rate, pounding heart (I could feel my heart beating very hard much more than normal- not just fast but hard), breathing difficulty, and skipped heart beats.
Avatar f tn It sounded like a bit much to me, but I did it anyway, for 2 days. I came down with symptoms of an overdose of Levothyroxine, called a 24/7 nurse hotline, and was instructed to call Poison Control. My doctor won't be back in her office until Monday....
Avatar f tn The causes of tinnitus that need to be ruled out include - workplace exposure to loud noise, overdose of aspirin, overdose of aminoglycoside antibiotics or overdose of quinine. The other common causes are pregnancy , anemia, thyroid disorders. Discuss this in detail with your doctor and get the relevant investigations done to. Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts. Regards.
10286430 tn?1409048492 Hi Penny - Did you mean B6 overdose? As with any supplement it is possible to overdose B6. Symptoms of a B6 overdose can mimic MS symptoms.
Avatar f tn My (now former!) doctor started me on Armour Thyroid several years ago, although my lab work indicated there was no problem with my thyroid. About a year ago she increased my dosage from 30mg to 60mg, and wanted me to increase to 90mg and then 120mg. When I took 90mg, I started having heart palpitations and frequent sweats, so I went back to 60mg. For the last 4 months, I've had debilitating diarrhea, nausea, weakness, sweats, shakiness, sleeplessness, etc.
Avatar f tn Is she taking it for thyroid disorder, you usually notice a difference after 2 to 3 days and up to a week, she might need here stomach pumped, that's a major overdose
Avatar f tn I had a hemithyroidectomy in May for a lump I found. My sister had papillary carcinoma with uncommon metastasis to the lungs. My pathology came back and showed I had a small papillary carcinoma too. Because I still wanted to have a baby, the doctor decided to leave my other half of the thyroid and just place me on TSH supression. I didn't have any blood work done post surgery, he said that he would just guess the dosage of Synthroid based on my weight.
Avatar n tn TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that at best it is only an indicator to be considered along with more important indicators, such as symptoms and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. TSH is totally inadequate as the sole diagnostic for thyroid issues. Were any other thyroid tests done? If so, please post those results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar m tn Is this replacing something that the parathyroid or thyroid was producing. My wife says that 5000 units of Vit. D is considered an overdose. Is anyone else doing this kind of thing?
Avatar m tn Before I moved my primary MD wanted me to see an Endo, which I did and all he cared about was my FreeT4 and I either went overdose or allergic to the 100mcg of Levothyroxin since I have moved (Had some symtoms before moving, but didn't know at the time what there were from). I only had the primary MD about one year before I moved (My regular MD moved from the area).
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
Avatar f tn you might not get symptoms but still risky as high concentration of thyroid hormones can bring various kinds of unexplained symptoms which is bit hard to find and treat. if you went to a doctor with this result he say its all fine as its all in lab reference range but if went to doctor who is better trained to treat thyroid problems he will probably reduce your dosage. so if doctor is not ready to change dose get another opinion.
Avatar f tn causes for your hair loss could include allergies, irritants, toxins, and infections. sometimes, it can be caused by a vitamin A overdose, iron deficiency or a malfunctioning thyroid gland. i went to see the doctor when my hair was coming out in clumps; it was hypothyroidism. are you feeling sick in any other way?
Avatar m tn org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/Do-you-feel-any-different-skipping-just-1-dose-on-the-Synthroid--I-ask-bcz/show/17885 You should never double up on medication when you miss doses, due to the risk of overdose. Since synthroid takes a long time (weeks) get into/out of your blood, you should be okay for this time, but if it happens again, don't try to make up missed doses; just start taking your med daily, like you normally would.
