Avatar m tn Everyone looks at lab values rather than combining symptoms, lab values, and family history. My grandfather and two of his siblings also had thyroid problems. Thank you again for the extremely helpful response and great write up!
Avatar n tn I will try again with this one!, Some of the symptoms you stated are thyroid symptoms, such as Insomnia, fatigue/Energy Loss, Muscle Joint pain, stiff, achy neck, Depression, weight gain , Anxiety and dry skin. The others you mentioned could be side affects of the Anxiety medication you are taking are symptoms of Diabetes, those are Frequent Urination and Odor It is difficult to advise or give opinions without lab results and the ranges provided with each result.
391834 tn?1229342874 my doctor says im suffering from hypothyroidism, according to my test results and this could be causing the generalized anxious feeling, i am suffering from fatigue as a result of these symptoms. the problem is that i seem to have certain symptoms of hyperthyroidism ie sweating easily and slightly swallon thyroid gland. Please help!
Avatar m tn Of much more importance is symptoms, and also the levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4. FT3 is the most important because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. Studies have shown that it correlated best with hypo symptoms, while FT4 and TSH did not correlate. So you need to get a FT3 test done. I expect that it will also show in the low end of the range, consistent with being hypo.
Avatar n tn Hard to have any suggestions without more info from you. What dosage of Armour Thyroid daily? What are these severe symptoms? Please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar f tn It comes and goes, and happens daily. After the blood test I looked up the symptoms of hypothyroidism and I've had a lot of them at some point or another (some I currently have), all varying in severity: severe cold intolerance, fatigue, dry skin and hair, having touble remembering things, etc. But I also looked under hyperthyroidism and I've had some of those symptoms at different times as well: insomnia, heart palpitations, trembling hands, muscle weakness, etc.
Avatar f tn Is this all related to the thyroid or something else. Usually my blood tests come back normal but I take .1 mg of generic synthroid.
Avatar f tn Saying that you cannot do anything about your hypo symptoms until your thyroid gland "dies" is ridiculous. Please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report so that we can better assess your status and suggest what needs to be done.
Avatar m tn i am a man of 42 years old first had thyroid problems when i was 25 the last 12 months have been horrible feel a lot better now. is there any men who have had thyroid problems or is it just women.
Avatar f tn Exactly. I've been trying to get help for her for 4 years and people don't listen to want I'm saying at all. She was a thin child, no eating very much, almost under weight. Now, in the last 2-3 years she's put on so much weight and she often doesn't eat more then 1200 calories a day. She seems to have all of the symptoms of thyroid problems. The difficulty here is to find a doctor. I'm from Quebec, Canada and there's a shortage of doctors. We are you from?
Avatar f tn this can cause you to swing between hyper and hypo, which is what your symptoms indicate. Remember, fatigue and lack of energy can be symptoms of either, while headaches or dizzy spells might indicate hyper. Do you have any current lab results you could post for us? These might include, but not be limited to: TSH, Free T3, Free T4, antibodies (TPOab, TGab, and TSI), as well as other parameters.
2033435 tn?1329943508 Fatigue, lack of motivation, lack of interest are all symptoms of hypo...perhaps the most common of all the symptoms. I doubt there's anyone here on this forum who wasn't fatigued or drowsy when hypo. Other symptoms vary person to person, but this one seems universal just about.
454221 tn?1259445739 I have this feeling of tightness close to and below the collar bone. I sometimes get the feeling of something stuck in my throat or swollen. I sometimes feel the right tonsil maybe swollen or enlarged, but no sore throat. I did have wheezing a week ago and that only lasted for a few minutes. I sometimes get neck pain and upper back pain right below my neck. Does anyone know what I'm feeling?
Avatar f tn That does not mean that you have become hyper, unless you also have hyper symptoms due to excessive levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Have those been tested? If not, then your testing is inadequate. A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.
Avatar f tn I have to stay on a higher than normal dose of thyroid medication to keep the cancer away. I have always struggled with different side effects of a higher dose. Constipation, night blindness, moodiness, weight gain (yes gain), insomnia, fatigue and cold sensitivity. My doctor has recently increased my dose to help me relieve some of my symptoms. I currently am 41years old, 5.2” and weight 147. I am now taking Levothyroxine 0.2mg a day, and have been on this for 6 months.
Avatar f tn Even more important than lab tests, are symptoms. Following is a list of symptoms typical of hypothyroidism. Which others do you have beside the ones you mentioned?
Avatar n tn about 8mths ago, I found 2 bold patches on my scalp, totally freaked me out, so I went to see my doctor and he said it was nothing to worry about, my hair will eventually grow back, at the time I was very stressed, so he said it could be the cause of it, I did mention that my family has a history of thyroid problems, so he suggested a blood test, when my results came back my thyroid levels were high 14.8..!! so they said i shouldn't worry it's probably caused by stress!!
Avatar f tn my daughter is having the same symptoms as me and has had blood tests a couple of times for checking her thyroid and it always comes back stating that her thyroid is in normal range and there is nothing wrong with it. is there another way to test or check your thyroid?
Avatar f tn your question with so many more questions, but, sometimes, symptoms of being hyper and hypo, can overlap, so the more information you can give, the better. Have you had your vitamin B12 and D levels tested? Deficiency in either can cause your symptoms....
Avatar f tn Your last TSH is creeping on up, and your T4 is quite low in the range... Do you symptoms of hypothyroidism? If so, which ones?
Avatar n tn I had my thyroid radiated and destroyed about 25 years ago, and the only times I have had problems with fatigue, pain and strange body sensations is when my levels are off.... I do strongly suggest you do see a doctor....The test is so cheap and quick and the levothyroxin is so inexpensive, about 2 dollars a month ,it is a shame today to see anyone suffer if they don't have to....
Avatar f tn t have a thyroid condition. You should request a songogram of the thyroid and also ask your gp for a referral to an Endocrinologist for further testing. Keep in mind that, most people who have a thyroid goiter (swelling at the site of the thyroid), will have normal lab results.
Avatar m tn d suggest testing antibodies as well. Autoimmune thyroid disease is by far the most prevalent cause of thyroid dysfunction. However, since cost is a factor, I'd suggest getting those done first, which might limit the antibody testing.
