Avatar m tn I play a lot of golf and am now experiecing the loss of flexability in the last joint of my left thumb, this thumb supports the golf club during the swing. Also, there was slight tingling sensation above the elbow in the left arm, it has since subsided. What can be the cause of this loss of flexability and what can be done to help prevent it from reoccuring?
Avatar f tn I am a female who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 21 (13 years ago). I'm otherwise pretty active and healthy. For the last 5 years I have suffered with the most horrendous boils on my buttocks very close to the anus, and high upper inner thigh and groin-one last Christmas was the size and length of a thumb, had three heads at times and came up and down for 6 weeks. I can't even begin to describe the pain.
Avatar m tn with a high pressure thumb or golf ball on the floor, then moving the muscle/tendon to its elongated position and hold for 5-10 seconds. You will feel it burn and after about five tries, it should release. Then nutrients can get into the fiber and healing begins. Works on all soft tissue.
Avatar m tn I am 69 & play 18 holes of golf 3 to 5 times a week & shoot in the low 90s...While bending over to rake the sand or put my tee in the ground or pick up clubs, I find myself trying to catch my breath. What causes this with such little exertion...I can still do 3 miles on my treadmill at 3 miles per hr. w/o having this shortness of breath problem.?
903476 tn?1242237037 Very helpful thank you, I did go see a doctor and shes 99% sure it's tendonitis and this is just the first time it has ever become inflamed. She has has sent me for X-rays I will be getting tomorrow and she wants me to see a physiotherapist. She wont tell me 100% till she runs more tests but between the ice and heat sand of course the Tylenol the pain is gone but now I'm feeling pain in my left thumb.
Avatar f tn I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.
Avatar m tn My thumb is not bruised or swollen but I have shooting pain when I bend it. I can bend it all the way but it shoots pain and it hurts in between the two joints. I have tried icing and wrapping it but nothing has helped and it has been nine days. My hand is also very cold but like I said before it is not bruised or swollen.
Avatar m tn To find this area you will have to poke around, as it is not the same location where you feel the tennis elbow pain. Its called refereed pain. Then sleep with it strait, put some sports elbow guard on backwards, then you can bend at night. Also feel for a trigger point in your bicept or tricept, push in deep, it will hurt at first but instant relief will occur in the elbow pain. been there done that!

Avatar n tn Hello Eve, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry that your husband is experiencing hip pain. It's so stressful when our husbands are hurting or ill and refuse to seek medical care. I too have one just like that. The hip contains the largest bursae in the human body. When it becomes inflamed the pain can be excruciating. I'm wondering if he has hip bursitis. If he does, often a simply (not painful) injection of a steroid into the hip can clear it up like magic.

630615 tn?1223249725 I got my D&C done on Monday morning, after miscarrying a couple weeks ago. Tuesday I was back in the hospital for severe pain. I wasnt bleeding at all though after the procedure. They found nothing. Gave me pain meds and antibiotic just in case. All wednesday night I couldnt sleep because of severe cramping. I had started to bleed that night. In the morning I passed a clot the size of a golf ball. Then yesterday, the same.
Avatar f tn Sweetie, you need to go to the doctor as soon as possible. Personally, I would go to the er if I were having 'can' size clots. My doctors rule of thumb is anything larger than a golf ball is an immediate visit to her. Call your doctor and see if you can be seen today or tomorrow and let us know what they say.
Avatar f tn I have the same thing but I havnt gone to a doctor or anything, mine too came after I had a child and I play video games on my pc and after a while when ever I get off I realize my wrist locked up the bent position it was when I was typing i pop it back with out pain but when I do experience pain is when I try to lift myself up with my palm down I have to make fist to push off of.

Avatar f tn My daughter has been in the Jr Golf out at the golf course that her grandparents belong to. She has done so well. She has been playing since age 6..She"s 12 now. So last night, she had a tournament called "Glow Ball".They play 5 holes then it gets dark and they play with glowing golf balls... They take the really skilled 18-hole players, the 9-hole players and the 4-hole players and put the 3 on a team. There was about 20 teams.. So, I had PT yesterday which really kicked my butt.
Avatar f tn now for over 5 years new symptoms have started my neck hurts to even hold my own head up and swells on the left side like a golf ball sends pain through my back if touched when swollen.

Avatar n tn It's been about 10wks, had therapy and there has been no improvement at all in my thumb, still can not get it to bend on it's own. Orthopedic wants to give it 3 more wks and is considering sugery. EMG showed median nerve damage and anterior nerve damage as well. What are your thoughts on having surgery. It's become quite a problem for me to grab large things or grasp a ball too without having that thumb to bend.
Avatar n tn I have been having pain in my right thumb for the last 2 years. The only way I can describe it is a constant soreness. I have been to numerous doctors including neurologists, orthopedists and hand surgeons. Tests done include 2 nerve conductions, nerve block, mri on thumb, wrist and spinal cord, x-ray on hand and a ultrasound. None of them have been able to diagnose what the problem is. Is there anything else that could be causing this pain?
Avatar f tn My doctor says the stabbing pain I get in the base of my thumb on the fleshy palm part is probably osteoarthritis, This came on quite suddenly several months ago - I had on occasions put my hand out to stop my elderly husband from tripping over. The joint at the base of the thumb is also quite swollen in a boney sort of way. I mainly get a short sharp stabbing pain on the fleshy part but on resting the hand it does not hurt that much. Could this be a ligament problem?
