thumb pain after pregnancy

I know by now you may have resolved this issue, but after my first child, I had this kind of pain and it turned out to be pregnancy induced tendonitis. A hand doctor gave me a shot in each of the wrists and the pain went away in a few days.

Very helpful thank you, I did go see a doctor and shes 99% sure it's tendonitis and this is just the first time it has ever become inflamed. She has has sent me for X-rays I will be getting tomorrow and she wants me to see a physiotherapist. She wont tell me 100% till she runs more tests but between the ice and heat sand of course the Tylenol the pain is gone but now I'm feeling pain in my left thumb.

Hi ladies..ive been suffering with arm pain..right arm. It started monday and i thought id slept in it funny but today its back with a vengeance. I have no idea what ive done..but its painful to lift my arm i cant do my hair and getting dressed is so painful..is this possibly pregnancy related?only reason i ask is that i cant think what i could have done!im 19weeks btw..

I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.

My thumb is not bruised or swollen but I have shooting pain when I bend it. I can bend it all the way but it shoots pain and it hurts in between the two joints. I have tried icing and wrapping it but nothing has helped and it has been nine days. My hand is also very cold but like I said before it is not bruised or swollen.

My doctor says the stabbing pain I get in the base of my thumb on the fleshy palm part is probably osteoarthritis, This came on quite suddenly several months ago - I had on occasions put my hand out to stop my elderly husband from tripping over. The joint at the base of the thumb is also quite swollen in a boney sort of way. I mainly get a short sharp stabbing pain on the fleshy part but on resting the hand it does not hurt that much. Could this be a ligament problem?

for about a month now my rights thumb has been very cold all the time it never warms up,, on a part of my thumb where they hand meets it is very painful??? please tell me whats wrong??

I have had this pain for a month so I asked my ob/gyn & he took his thumb & first finger & pushed down on each side of my vagina & asked me if I felt it I said yeah so he told me it was her head, so it could be baby pushing down. that's what he said mine was from.

I have some pain in my right wrist where my wrist and thumb connect. When I pick up heavy things it hurts, not unbearable but not pleasant. I can pop the third thumb joint every now and then by pulling on the thumb or squeezing the wrist and it feels wonderful to do, usually in the morning when I wake up. The pain stops. I have no weakness at all, just pain. I skateborded as a kid and had my share of falls, I'm twenty six now.

A week after the fall I noticed that my left thumb would bend in the middle and I experienced very bad pain. It would get stuck in that position bent. I had to manually put it back. Since I was able to move it all around, I knew it was not broken. I started taking tylenol and massaged it with aspercream. small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. I wear a small brace on this hand during day hours to be able to do my job.

I have fibroid pain. It's a little different. ...but pain still involved. I deal with a chronic pain from it. If I run out of blood supply to it, it will be excruciating. When in doubt, check it out is a good rule of thumb. Follow your gut. My first pregnancy with the fibroid I felt like I was always in the dr or hospital because of issues. This is an easier pregnancy this time plus I know now what us what, and if I dont, I ask. Feel free to talk to your dr or whoever is on call.

I'm just saying Braxton hicks is not labor and this is the basic "rule of thumb" Google it! And this is ur basic pattern for labor! Seems docs r not going over this cause of all the questions about it!

I have been having pain in my right thumb for the last 2 years. The only way I can describe it is a constant soreness. I have been to numerous doctors including neurologists, orthopedists and hand surgeons. Tests done include 2 nerve conductions, nerve block, mri on thumb, wrist and spinal cord, x-ray on hand and a ultrasound. None of them have been able to diagnose what the problem is. Is there anything else that could be causing this pain?

It's actually pretty common in pregnancy & should be gone after pregnancy. I have it in both of my wrists this pregnancy. My OB told me that if I wanted he'd prescribe me the braces to wear to bed as that is when it is the worst for me.

The surgeon was apparently right because the pain went away after I had my neck surgery.

The pain radiates into my elbow area and even seems to be triggered by certain positions. This morning I awoke with pain and clicking in my right thumb. Additionally, there is swelling in the thumb and a soreness into the heel of my hand (where thumb connects to hand). I am taking meds for migraine/stroke (Plavix, verapamil, lasix, lisinopril, along with thyroid replacement therapy and some allergy prescriptions.

I injured my thumb right after Thanksgiving and was initially diagnosed with a sprain. The worst pain was at the joint farthest from my wrist. New Year's Eve I was diagnosed with trigger thumb and prescribed 8 physical therapy sessions. (The tendon at the base of the thumb is noticeably thick) I had little to no improvement after the PT (over a 4 week period) and sought a second opinion.
