Epithelial ovarian cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissue that covers the ovary.
Avatar f tn The only thing I can think of would be nerve ending damage which can happen while having treatment. Ask your doctor about that. I had it and it is not nice.

167426 tn?1254086235 t want to start a new thread NEW YORK FEB 28, 2008 (Reuters Health) - The addition of thalidomide to topotecan appears to improve treatment response rates of recurrent epithelial ovarian carcinoma, according to the results of a phase II trial. Because both agents have antiangiogenic properties, the combination of the two might be more effective than topotecan alone, Dr. Levi S. Downs Jr., of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and associates speculated.
Avatar f tn What I am saying is that inadvertant exposure to these medications during pregnancy has never been shown to cause birth defects. One notable exception to this rule is Thalidomide which is a medication that should NEVER be used, and probably NEVER is used. I suspect that your doctor has valid reasons for his/her recommendation and I would encourage you to discuss your concerns with him/her if possible. I hope all goes very well for you!
Avatar f tn When I was nauseated early in pregnancy, I didn't know about zofran, I took (OTC) motion sickness tablets, and b-vitamin supplements and both methods helped. When I saw those ads about the lawsuits I was happy I hadn't taken zofran.

As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
Avatar f tn Someone said that Topotecan worked better when combined with thalidomide -- don't know much more about it than that, although when I have chemo again (when the Arimidex doesn't hold my counts steady anymore) they are threatening me with topotecan next.
1770925 tn?1365618522 Peripheral neuropathy has been seen in association with the following antibiotics metronidazole, nitrofurantoin, thalidomide and isoniazid. What are your neurological symptoms and has a physician correctly attributed them to sulfa drugs? There is no known peripheral neuropathy with the use of cephalexim, particularly short-term use. You can also check with the pharmacist.
Avatar f tn thalidomide used in the past was thought safe.
Avatar f tn Has anyone found anything else that lessons the symtoms of this? I recently started the Topotecan/Thalidomide course which could add to this problem.
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to treat, but current therapies include steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. If staphylococcus or other infection is present, then antibiotics may be needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

764257 tn?1234724152 I agree with the above. Talk to your doctor about whether you should try Atkins or not. I was on Atkins for approximately 5 months (something happened and I completely stopped eating, but it isn't related to the diet). The results were fantastic. By the end of the second week I (a carb lover) didn't want to eat carbs although I was still eating fruits and veggies. I lost weight and I felt good.
Avatar f tn I actually had some foot/feet burning prior to treatment and it happened mainly at night. During treatment I had it worse for a few weeks, but then it let up and I actually no longer have it at all (so it is now better than before treatment). I never consulted the doc before treatment and only mentioned it a couple of times during to my case manager (who ignored it), but your symptoms sound worse than mine (plus I have a tendency not to go to docs unless I am dying, LOL).
Avatar f tn Hi, Prurigo nodularis is very hard to treat, but current therapies include steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. In the event that staphylococcus or other infection is present, antibiotics have proven effective. A physician may administer a strong dose of prednisone, which will almost immediately stop the itch/scratch cycle. However, cessation of steroids allows relapse to occur, usually within a few weeks.
Avatar f tn Thalidomide was also the most common morning sickness medicine in the 1950's have you read up about that?
Avatar n tn I have been treated with several meds, including, but not limited to Iodine drops, Thalidomide, Prednisone, and topical steroids. I am now on 10 mg of Prednisone. I have been on that dosage for 6 years now, and the medication is not treating my body very nicely with weakened joints that ache, bad bruising on my arms and legs, weight gain, and a host of other problems that go with the steroid use. One of the best things for the E/N is the application of a topical steroid, Lydex cream.

Avatar f tn Anytime you heavily bleed during pregnancy it needs to be seen, in early pregnancy it could be a miscarriage, or it could be something much less serious, but it needs to get checked into! Good luck!
