A physician may administer a strong dose of prednisone, which will almost immediately stop the itch/scratch cycle. However, cessation of steroids allows relapse to occur, usually within a few weeks.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if Quest Diagnostic uses 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation HIV screens? I recently had an HIV screen done and on the test results, it does not indicate this, all it says is "HIV SCREEN". I am assuming they use the latest technology but after calling them, they were unable to tell me what generation they used and said they had about 20 different HIV antibody tests.

Avatar n tn Have you heard of alternate uses for Armidex? I have endometriosis stage 4, I had 2 surgeries in 2006, and my surgeon is putting me on Armidex to try to control the pain. Is this a common use for this medicine?
Avatar n tn I have been treated with several meds, including, but not limited to Iodine drops, Thalidomide, Prednisone, and topical steroids. I am now on 10 mg of Prednisone. I have been on that dosage for 6 years now, and the medication is not treating my body very nicely with weakened joints that ache, bad bruising on my arms and legs, weight gain, and a host of other problems that go with the steroid use. One of the best things for the E/N is the application of a topical steroid, Lydex cream.
