Because both agents have antiangiogenic properties, the combination of the two might be more effective than topotecan alone, Dr. Levi S. Downs Jr., of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and associates speculated.

Avatar m tn I had normal skin my whole life. Better then most as far as reacting to anything and fast healing. I developed a rash in the worst place imaginable. I initially thought it was jock itch but after nine months and four dermatologists. They said it's eczema. I went for allergy testing and found out I was allergic to animal dander and dust mites. My rash hasn't responded to any medication and burns but doesn't itch.
Avatar f tn I've been searching through the internet and can't really find anything about this specific topic. I have allergies to most animals; dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs birds(feathers) and I also have a mild allergy to red meat. If I'm allergic to an animal is it bad for me to have dairy products that come from the animal?
Avatar f tn Someone said that Topotecan worked better when combined with thalidomide -- don't know much more about it than that, although when I have chemo again (when the Arimidex doesn't hold my counts steady anymore) they are threatening me with topotecan next.

Avatar f tn It is very difficult to treat, but current therapies include steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. If staphylococcus or other infection is present, then antibiotics may be needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

In the event that staphylococcus or other infection is present, antibiotics have proven effective. A physician may administer a strong dose of prednisone, which will almost immediately stop the itch/scratch cycle. However, cessation of steroids allows relapse to occur, usually within a few weeks.
Avatar f tn The tests work by coating testing wells with antigen cells that have been produced by infecting animal organs with the virus; HSV1 or HSV2. The blood is cleansed and added to the testing well and antibodies as well as other proteins bind to the antigen with an enzyme that is colored. The ratio of the color intensity to the control color well is the index result. In theory, yes the more antibodies the deeper the color and higher the index result.
